Holsbeke Construction - discoloration months later

Holsbeke Construction

I regret ever hiring Holsbeke to tear out my old patio and pour a new one. The lack of care the…read moreowner (Chris Jr.) and the project manager (Tom) showed was unbelievable. The patio tear out should have been straightforward but resulted in damaged brick and a chipped foundation. What bothered me more than the damage was, instead of letting me know when it first happened, they left it up to me to find it when the tear out was completed. They eventually got around to patching up the area 2 months later when they poured the patio which is where the biggest disappointment came. The patio was scheduled a few days ahead of time and there was rain in the forecast (Sep-13). The day of the pour I asked Tom, the project manager, if the pour can be delayed or if the area will be protected. With his dismissive attitude he said rain is not in the forecast it's his job to track the weather not mine. No mention of what they plan to do if it rains. Second, Tom mentioned just before the pour that the area behind the patio steps cannot get troweled smooth like the rest of the patio. I figured it was an area that doesn't get traffic or much visibility so if it's not as smooth as the rest of the patio it shouldn't be a big deal. This concern was never brought up when I received a quote or when the old patio was torn out months earlier. What ended up happening is the pour started just as rain moved in. Tom ignored the forecast the entire morning and the crew was forced to work in the rain. The result? A poorly protected wet patio that was covered in rain, a race to complete a job with cut corners along the way with the result being an all-around botched job. The supposed 'less finished' area behind the patio steps was missing concrete and a perfect place for water to pool against the house. They left a wood form stuck in the concrete behind the step, and when they later went to remove the wood form, resulted in aggregate spewing out from the inside of the step. Yep, they packed aggregate against the wood form which didn't allow concrete to form against the wood. The wet surface resulted in large areas of discolored concrete that are still present months later. The patio failed initial inspection, obviously, and even the follow-up patch work was a mess but just enough to pass inspection since, according to the building inspector, workmanship was removed from the building code. In the end Holsbeke offered a "solution": remove my newly installed fence so they can bring in large machines to tear out the patio. Not much of a solution especially given the fact they already damaged by house the first time they tore out a patio. Did they offer a discount? No. I have not experienced such lack of care and shoddy work at this level before. The best I can do is show pictures of the patio and let others decide what to do with their hard-earned money.

Holsbeke did my driveway, patio, and walkway around the house. Top notch work and still looks good…read more3 years later. Don't hesitate to trust them. Their saw guy melted a piece of siding and it was fixed the next day.

C&C Finish Carpentry and Painting

Finding a skilled, honest, and trustworthy contractor these days can feel impossible, but we were…read morelucky enough to find Claudio. As first-time homeowners, we had a rough experience with another company that refinished our floors. After removing the carpeting from our stairs, they were left noticeably noisy, but the company went ahead and refinished them anyway without giving us a heads-up--leaving us no opportunity to explore other options for addressing the issue. On top of that, they left stain all over our trim, doors, and walls. We were frustrated and disappointed--until Claudio came in and made everything right. He meticulously added shoe molding throughout our entire upstairs, prepping, priming, and painting all the trim to perfection. On our staircase, he installed cove molding, carefully nailing it into place to help with the noise while also covering the gap between the treads and risers for a more seamless look. He then prepped, primed, and painted the risers and stringers, giving the staircase a beautifully finished appearance. He even went above and beyond, covering the stain left behind on our walls and doors, making everything look fresh and cohesive again. Claudio is not just incredibly skilled at his craft--he's also professional, hardworking, and truly cares about the quality of his work. He's fairly priced and willing to work with you if needed, which we really appreciated. He was so trustworthy that we felt completely comfortable giving him a key to our home while we were at work. Now, thanks to Claudio, we are proud to show off our home, and the results speak for themselves (check out the before & after photos attached!). Unfortunately, Google erased Claudio's well-earned reviews, so we're more than happy to share our experience and recommend him wholeheartedly. We look forward to using him again in the future for our carpentry and painting needs. If you need someone who is thorough, talented, and genuinely cares, Claudio is the one to call!

I highly recommend Complete Kitchen Design. Bill, Joe, and the rest of the team were great to work…read morewith. When we moved into our house, the kitchen was outdated. It had the original cabinets from the 1970s. The shelves weren't even, and there was barely any counter space to work with. We knew we wanted to replace all the cabinets, get quartz counterop, and upgrade the layout to be more functional. We called another competitor first, and they quoted us that the bare minimum of what we were asking for would be over $45,000, which was more than twice our budget. When we met Bill, he wasn't pushy or salesy. We told him our budget and what we were looking for, and he was able to meet every expectation. It took about 8 weeks for our cabinets to come in/be made. Immediately after that, Joe and the crew came and completed our kitchen renovation within 2 weeks. My partner and I work from home, and the renovation did not disturb our workflow at all. We'll definitely be working with them again in the future when we update our bathrooms!

Had our kitchen done 25 years before and it took months to be completed (a true nightmare). Joe Allen was so patient with us because we had no idea what we wanted plus he designed a perfect change that we needed. Every morning he showed up to check on the job and even helped with moving out all our old appliances. I enjoyed working with his son who also help in picking out backsplash and colors. We were so pleased with them that I would call them again and highly recommend them. Whats nice you can tell they love what they are doing and their work shows it. Another quick note CKD was so fast at coming to give us a quote and very reasonable. Eileen S.
