We hired Michigan's handyman to help us with moving a gutter run off. I had reached out to 10 other companies who didn't want to take such a small job but it meant a lot to us to get this fixed. Several no shows, one ridiculously over priced quote and terrible communication. The handyman first sent cancelled several times, but did a good job, he himself would be worth the 5 stars alone - I tipped him in cash since he couldn't take my payment onsite - said the company would contact me in a week to collect full payment. A week passed I left town, 3 weeks later I get a threatening voice message about having to pay extraordinary amounts of interest on an "unpaid bill." Then they wanted to charge me an 11% fee to pay with a card over the phone when I said I would settle up promptly. Overlooked all of this and tried them a second time. They wanted $1000!!! To replace my broken door frame after someone tried to break in my house. I called Gallery Doors and they did an amazingly professional job for $197.00 and collected payment on the spot. I'd do your homework and weigh heavy on the negative reviews on here: it's a gamble with these guys. read more

I have been using this company for a few years for gutter cleanings. I had a company come out for another project and they informed me all the gutters were not cleaned. I contacted the company and expressed my concern and was told they will send someone out to look but will not clean the gutters for free. What's the purpose of sending someone out to look and not clean the gutter properly. Needless to say, I told them I will go with a another company! Poor customer service! read more

Needed a little drainage problem solved and some repairs to brick and balcony. Chuck came out and offered up some good solutions to the problem and having been impressed by him I decided to pay his above average rate and go with him. In the quote he writes replace wood railing with similar and paint to match owners preference. Which was the same color as before. I come back to find the cheapest wood railing anyone can buy and it's stained instead of painted (because that's what he had). When told I wanted it painted to match the old one he said he would have to special order it and it would take a few days. Apperently he's never heard of Home Depot. Then he could not match the old paint because he threw out the old railing. So he took a small paint sample from the trim. Then came back with wrong paint and said they could not match such a small sample. Hum how about going back and getting a bigger sample. Not for Chuck. On the other thing he was working on. he said the work was done and I was shocked. The drainage was mounted about 3/4 inch higher than the roof meaning that it would have to pool up 3/4 inch before draning. then he never put down the rubber roof so that it would have fallen apart in a year tops. When confronted with this he got very defensive. He put down the rubber roof and said he buit it up so that it would not be 3/4 inch. I won't be using them again. read more

We used Michigan's Handyman for snow removal this year and they did a great job. We have used other snow removal companies in the past and they were awful. Michigan's Handyman came out on time every time and would send emails about their progress after some of the heavy snow storms this year. We also just had them paint our living room and hallway. They did a great job and everything looks wonderful. They even did a great job on the trim. They told us the job would be done within 3 days and they finished in 1.5 days and cleaned up very nicely. The first I spoke with gave me a initial estimate that I thought was way to high, but said he would call me back after he talks with his formen. He called me back that day. If you're looking for a painter, keep looking. I hired Michigan's Handyman because the same team would be repairing our house trim as well as paint the entire exterior, and Jason seemed like a good guy who really knew his stuff. They also offer 0% financing, which is great. Jason and his team worked very hard under extreme weather conditions. Unfortunately, I felt I had to constantly micromanage the job. I had to ask them to paint the spot they missed behind a tree and redo many areas that were painted very sloppily. Jason obviously thought I was being too picky and stated accusatorily, "It's always something." I do expect professional painters to use painters' tape so that the edges are straight. I also don't expect there to be blotches of paint left on the brick or a huge paint spill left on our grass for several months that he still has not come back to clean up despite repeated requests to do so. I also had to ask him to redo a trim replacement since he put the seam over the window, when he himself originally told me you're not supposed to do that. I was willing to overlook all that. But what's prompting this review at this time is that I just learned, when moving the extra paint from the garage to the basement, that the wrong sheen was used for the trim. After spending $400 on a color consultant, and Jason recommended that low lustre would be best for the trim, I noticed the leftover brown paint for the trim was actually flat paint. While the job was being done, I repeatedly asked him for reassurance that the brown paint was the low lustre, and he assured me that it was. So he was either lying to my face or didn't know the kind of paint he bought. Either way, it's not good. Keep looking and hire painters that do handywork rather than handymen that do painting. read more

I contacted them in order to have my backyard deck powerwashed and stained. I called and had 3 separate quotes and Michigan's Handyman was around the same price range as all of the estimates provided, so I feel their pricing is fair and competitive. I'm also 100% satisfied with their work and will use them again. They fully stand behind their work and will make sure everything is done right. Let me tell you some of the details of my experience with them They came out and pressure washed my deck and had it looking brand new, then obviously they had to wait a few days for it to fully dry in order to come back out and stain. When they came back out, they started to stain my deck and had it looking very good. They came out around noon and at about 6pm, were close to being finished but noticed they were going to just barely not have enough stain to finish. Nevertheless, they still went out, got more stain, and returned to finish and were here stained my deck until 9pm! It was hard to tell as it was dark out, but the deck looked wonderful. Then, after 24 hours and allowing time for it to dry, after the sun had come up (and now there was light) I had noticed that were they used the second batch of stain, the color was just slightly off. I called them and asked what they thought and sent them pictures, and they came out and verified that the 2nd stain did not indeed not fully match the 1st stain. (no one could tell, including myself, the night they originally did it, because it was so late in the day). So without any fuss or hassle, they went back, got brand new stain and REDID the entire deck at no extra charge or cost on the same day I informed them of the problem. They truly care about their customers, and are priced fairly and they will do whatever within reason to make sure they are satisfied. read more

I was given a quote for the services I requested and was informed that the person doing the work would contact me. I promptly received a phone call and scheduled the service for the following Saturday. I received a call Saturday morning stating that they would be at my home at our agreed upon time. Dennis showed up on time and quickly and professionally completed the work. I enjoyed the fact that they worked with me to provide cost effective solutions that looked great and was within my budget. Hired Michigan's Handyman in Sterling Heights, MI to clean out my second story gutters. They did a great job and cleaned up the job site when they finished. I hired them because they were willing to seal a gutter end cap that was leaking and other gutter cleaning companies wouldn't do that. They also noticed one gutter was pulling away from the house and had a robust screw / bracket to repair that too. Definitely will use them again. read more

His work was exactly as estimated and looked good as new. Also gave me a fair (lowest out of 3 so far) estimate for install of new gutter system. I wish I could give them more stars. They cleaned out my gutters and did a good and timely job. I have to give them 1 star, however, because they constantly don't return my calls and have no-shows. After receiving their awesome gutter cleaning service, I thought Michigan's Handyman would always be timely and do an efficient job. That was not the case, however. I called a few weeks later so I could get an estimate on some jobs inside my house, as well as a downspout install that they had recommended. We set up an appointment at 1pm for a few days later. I waited until 2pm and the Michigan's Handyman employee did not show up. I called the office and the receptionist told me she would get a hold of the employee and call me back. She never called back. He never showed up. I was extremely frustrated. I tried again about a month after that. I called to get an estimate on some bathroom work. The receptionist said she would call an employee and have him call me back to set up a time. Once again, she never called back. I wouldn't count on Michigan's Handyman. They are unreliable. Due to the continuous lack of returned calls, I have a feeling they will only value your phone call if you're a big, money-making job for them. read more

Disappointed. I had tried to get this company to do a few things for my rental. I called Jim, who informed me he was driving up north (it was a Friday afternoon, no big deal). I asked him for a call back to discuss the repairs when he returned the next week. At my suggestion, I texted a summary with my needs and my contact information. That was July 24th. I had a rotted fascia board under my gutter, so an opossum was able to get in and started living in the wall of my house! After having critter control remove the animal, I quickly contacted MI Handyman in order to fix the issue. The day after I called, Curtis came out to quote me. It was a good and fair quote. A week after I had originally called, Curtis came out to fix the gutters/fascia board. He even cleaned out the rest of my gutters, which desperately needed it! The whole process was very smooth, the job was well done, and the price was very fair. Will definitely call again if I have any other issues for them to tackle. read more

Judging from my experience and the reviews of about half the respondents here, you have about a 50% chance that this company will return your call or follow up to complete your job after your initial consultation. I called upon the recommendation of a neighbor. Jim came out to my house and spend about 45 minutes reviewing my minor repairs, including some drywall repairs and installation of a new basement handrail. He took measurements and notes, and told me that he would be able to come back to do the job later the following week. I did not hear from him again, so I tried texting and calling him, but he went completely radio silent. He never responded to any point of contact again. So, I called the main number at the office to ask if anyone knew about my job, in case something had happened to Jim and he was off the job for a while for some reason. No one from the office ever returned my call either. Why would you want to start a relationship with a company that only has about a 50% job performance rating? I'm gonna go elsewhere and I recommend you do the same. read more

YOU WANT TO READ THIS REVIEW ON MICHIGAN'S HANDYMAN! I had Dennis come out to my home in Macomb Township to give me a quote on painting 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a hallway, put oak molding down on 2 carpet edges, put up a Rosette over a kitchen light fixture, regrout a master bath shower floor, and plug up a basement foundation hole with hydraulic cement. One of their worker's Craftsmanship was so bad, that Dennis had to redo all of his work! What is unbelievable, is that Dennis actually admitted to me that this wasn't the first time he has had to redo all of this worker's work! This company is hiring incompetent workers that do Shotty Craftsmanship! The worker mixed the shower grout wrong, so the color of the grout was 2 different colors! Looked really bad. When this worker put down the oak molding on the carpet edges, he did not stretch the carpet, so the carpet was left all bunched up, and had 2 rolls! He actually said to me when he finished the molding, this needs to be stretched??? This worker also zapped himself with electricity when he was installing the rosette in the kitchen over the light fixture. Another worker was called in to finish the job. Dennis did redo the shower grout, and it is still 2 different colors, and the front edge is now cracking, and grout is falling out! Since the molding had to be ripped up and redone, there are too many holes in the wood. It should have been done right the first time! The upper bathroom was painted a darker blue, and I find it unbelievable they didn't paint behind the toilet! So, if you stand at the mirror, you can see these huge patch of light cream color( the original color) that wasn't painted!! The lower Hallway was only painted with one coat, and was not rolled good, cause you can see shadows. I will now have to touch that up, as well the toilet paint! To top it all off, a finial on one of my curtain rods was broken and left for me to see on the dining room table, and someone hit a closet door in my laundry room with a piece of equiptment or lumbar! It is cracked at the top of the door. I did text Dennis about the Finial, and the closet door, and his response was that they didn't do that???? I also sent a text about the cracking tile grout, and there was no response. So, apparently, the whole give us a call, and let us make things right, before you right a bad review isn't happening! I will BE filing a complaint with the Attorney General's office, The Better Business Bureau, and LARA. This type of Shotty Craftsmanship, and unaccountability shouldn't happen to any homeowner! My advice to you....... DON'T HIRE MICHIGAN'S HANDYMAN!!! read more
