I met the owner of Meraki Styles Salon last year (2019) after trying to find a salon when moving to Pittsburgh. Usually I stay with a salon because of the location but in this rare occasion I decided to follow the stylist when she opened up on her own. Location: the space is very nice. Minimalistic, with four chairs and a google assistant to set the mood - when she wants to cooperate. Cut: It is hard to judge a cut for everybody to judge, because it's personal style. But Bri's been cutting my hair now for a year now and I keep going back. But seriously. I had it cut every six weeks and I'm happy that my layers grows in very evenly. So even if you're jot a pro, like I am not it still continues to look good. When I come for balayage the process takes about 2 hours and I came out with really cute curls. See picture. Also ps: I keep asking her to curl it when I go but I really like it straight I hope she chuckles when I admit this on yelp Price: this is pretty fabulous. I pay as much for my haircut as my boyfriend. Bri is very fair and is able to cut and/or in an efficient way with pleasant conversation while giving you a homey feeling. Overall quality: I want to give her a five star but I'm a bit worried about how many reviews that are good have been hidden by the yelp algorithm, which is a little concerning for me looking at a new business that opened during corona season. My stylist did a great job. The problem is that they are forced to use their own private label products. All the curl went out of my hair by the time my uber got me home. I tried re curling it but the glue they called hairspray was too heavy and just weighed it all down. So I tried brushing it straight. It looked more like clumps of straw. I recommend the place just bring your own products. I think the salon should allow the professional stylist to choose what products they use.
