I am often disappointed, since they seem unprepared for a busy day. Many times there are just a few people working there, and they had to stop each time a new customer entered, to greet them and sign them in. This time was different. There were 6, and it could have been 7, people stationed at the chairs. There was an assistant signing people in and sweeping up between customers. This was the very first time I saw the place running at peak efficiency and it was a welcome sight. I was told that it would probably be 11 minutes until they got to me, a far cry from the hour or more I had experienced previously. I can't say what the exact time was, but I was probably in and out in less that 30 minutes. The previous guy had screwed up my hair, leaving a whole section uncut. When it grew out, one side was excessively long while the other was short. The stylist explained to me that it had been combed over rather than cut. She fixed it efficiently and quickly. A buzz of satisfaction surged through the place. It was a very good experience.

One of the wonderful ladies that cut my sons hair was Ali, she was amazing with him and his hair. Talked to him like a human and not a baby, which I much appreciated. She was very attentive to getting all of his wild hairs and blending his fade. Oh my gosh I don't think I have ever seen his hair cut so wonderfully. My little guy beamed the whole time he was in the chair. I truly appreciated her attention to detail and not just giving him a basic cut! We also had a wonderful experience with another worker there who cut my other toddlers hair. He is a bit finicky with capes and is quite young, but she had amIng patience with him. His hair looks fantastic, I also think this is the best cut he has received. It was very clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend them!

I had been going to Birch Beauty Bar for approximately six months and had been seeing Mia for my nails. About two months ago, my appointment was cancelled only 30 minutes before I was scheduled to arrive because Mia wasn't feeling well. I understand that people get sick, but the salon was unable to accommodate me for another two days. I had my nails to be done for an event that weekend, so I had no choice but to find another salon and have a different service done. Two months later, I decided to give Birch Beauty Bar another chance and booked with Mia again. Looking back, I wish I hadn't. My appointment was at 2:00 PM, and she didn't even come to her station until approximately 2:05 PM. Given the attitude I received from the moment I arrived, it honestly felt like she was already annoyed with me for not coming back for two months -- despite the fact that she was the one who cancelled my previous appointment at the last minute. When I finally sat down, her tone was extremely rude and unwelcoming. She asked what I had on my nails, and I explained that I had builder gel because the service I normally get wasn't available at the other salon. She immediately told me she didn't have time to soak it off because I hadn't specifically booked a soak-off. She then told me that I needed to leave because she had another client afterward. I completely understand that appointments need to be booked correctly and that technicians have schedules. However, there is a professional way to communicate that to a client. Instead, I was essentially turned away from my appointment after arriving, and the way she spoke to me was incredibly disrespectful. What makes this even more frustrating is that there was zero attempt to find a solution or even communicate with me politely. After already having my previous appointment cancelled at the last minute, I came back two months later and was treated as though I was an inconvenience. The salon itself also has a very limited color selection, which I find disappointing. The overall atmosphere is not relaxing or professional either. There is often very loud talking and personal conversations happening throughout the salon, including the hairdresser loudly discussing personal stories, which takes away from the relaxing spa experience. At this point, it's not about one bad appointment. It's the combination of the last-minute cancellation, the lack of accommodation, the attitude, and the way I was treated when I finally returned. I have never experienced this level of poor customer service at a salon. I will absolutely not be returning to Birch Beauty Bar, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of other salons where you can spend your money and be treated with basic courtesy and respect.
