I'd been to this salon three to four times in the past and had my hair cut and colored by owner Jimmy. I stopped going there because he was too expensive. The color I loved. The cuts were okay. After finally getting a raise at work and not having gotten my hair done in months due to Covid 19 shutting down all salons, I was desperate to get my hair done. I've been a platinum blond for over 20 years and had no intentions of not being one anymore. I ended up making an appointment with Brittany who could fit me in sooner than owner Jimmy. The girl who made the appointment said Brittany was good with blonds and recommended her. Having walked in with platinum hair, but large roots, I made it VERY clear that I wanted a very light blond color. Bright, light blond. I said no yellow and no orange. After getting home, taking my mask off and getting a good look in my bathroom mirror I was beyond shocked. I wasn't blond at all!! My hair was brown. And an ugly brown at that. I called immediately and asked the girl to please have Jimmy call me as soon as he could. I was in tears when I told the receptionist that my hair wasn't blond at all and looked brown. The owner Jimmy called back hours later and had a nasty attitude from the start. He refused to fix it or even let me come in so he could look at it. I was speechless. Then he told me to find another salon. He added that he saw it while I was there and it looked 'damn blond' to him. He then proceeded to tell me that it was my fault because my roots were huge (All salons were shut down for months due to Covid 19, so that was certainly out of my control). Then he told me to wash it a bunch of times over the next week and it would lighten up. Jimmy even said that I 'always had a problem' and complained about his coloring of my hair in the past. That was a complete lie. I never complained to him about a service. I had ALWAYS been super nice and cool when I had gone there and always tipped 30%. I even bought products there instead of going 100 feet up the street to Ulta and using a coupon for the same stuff. Jimmy had every excuse in the book to avoid accepting responsibility for what his stylist did. He even went as far to say that he and Brittany were the two best stylists in the city and Headspace was the best salon in the city. I took pictures of the mess Brittany created and sent them to the owner of another salon I know. Unfortunately, her salon was still closed or else I would have gone to her from the start. She agreed that my hair was not blond at all. She called it bronze. She advised me to file a dispute with my credit card since he refused to fix it. I filed the dispute and lost because the charge was found to be valid and PNC is powerless to continue to fight the salon because it's a 'quality' of service issue. They advised to file against the salon in small claims court. So the salon gets to keep $300 for a sloppy cut and orange brown color. Stay away from this salon. Any owner that is so cocky to talk to a client like they're garbage and refuse to fix a clients hair is not worth people's hard earned money. He can keep the $300. He obviously needs it more than I do. If you're looking for a great salon with a talented stylist, go to Lavish and ask for Amanda. She is the owner and fixed my hair the best she could do with out causing more damage to my hair. She said getting me back to platinum will take time to protect the integrity of my hair which I understand and appreciate She was incredibly cool and understanding and did a beautiful job. Update - It's a waste of my time to respond to the litany of excuses posted by owner. The pictures speak for themselves. Save your money an go elsewhere. read more

First time to this salon which was recommended to me by a friend and THRILLED I came here. I am pretty picky when it comes to my hair and tend to get bad luck when choosing salons. I came to Head Space and had my hair cut by Autumn and it is probably the best hair cut I have ever had!! The prices are a lot more reasonable than most salons in the North Hills, but the quality is a lot better! Autumn was as friendly as could be and really took her time. After she dried it she trimmed it up a bit more to a length and style I was comfortable with. I did not feel rushed and she did not push any products on me which I appreciated. Usually I don't leave reviews on pages, but I felt like I needed to share some things. First, the workers here are very kind, honest, and up front with their prices. I'm sure they're great at what they do, but I had a different experience so I decided to share. I was here for 7 hours, I spent over $300, and I came out looking practically identical to how I walked in. My hair was just slightly lighter. It was the biggest waste of money I've personally ever spent. The stylist was talking all day about how different my hair was going to look and how it was going to be such a big change and kept mentioning "violet", after the final dye was rinsed out the stylist look surprised. The stylist hesitantly said, "Do you like it?" because the stylist knew that it was not what it was supposed to be. But I was there for 7 HOURS so I was not about to say that I did not like it. I was just exhausted and ready to go home. I enjoyed my (partial) new look, but for as much money as I spent it was definitely not worth it. Edit: I also have a huge bruise on the back of my head from how uncomfortable my shampoo was, and the stylist continually ripped my hair out. One of my favorite places, which is weird seeing that I hate looking in the mirror and have spent most of my life looking like I'm coming off an eight day bender. Most places I go in, drop a US Grant or two and come out looking like Gen Sherman on his way to Atlanta. Not here. I always get my money's worth and more. It's a nice relaxed place where they're not trying to get you in and out of the chair quickly to run your card through the machine. And it's not a strip mall clip joint where you're afraid to ask any personal questions to the person cutting your hair, because you're afraid they'll tell you more than you want to know about their sordid backstory. I only make it in every few months, but if I had the time and my hair grew quick enough, I'd be there weekly. Hell, I'd be there daily. It's a great place and you'll look good when you walk out. I go in looking like a losing lottery ticket and come out looking pretty damned good for goofy dumb dope. Better yet, I stay that way for at least a few weeks, so it ain't just the way they're combing it or funhouse mirrors or dirt on the front window distorting my view. Call them now. I have been going to Jimmy at Head Space for many years even though I live near Monroeville and they are in the North Hills. Definitely worth the drive. Jimmy is great at making suggestions but also not pushing me too far out of my comfort zone. My hair has been below my shoulders for a couple of decades and today he gave me a long bob and warmed up the color which is a perfect change without being too shockingly different. All the staff I have interacted with have been friendly. You shouldn't hesitate booking with Jimmy or any of the crew at Head Space. read more

Jimmy is the man. He cuts both my hair and my husband's hair and does a fantastic job. I trusted him to cut off my super long hair into a short bob and holy cow did he deliver. He made sure the cut was right for me rather than just blindly cutting to mimic my inspirations. He even taught me how to curl my hair to best fit the style...seriously. He always takes his time to ensure things are "just right". I can't say enough good things about Jimmy and Head Space. My hair turned out ok but it turns out ok with box dye for over $200 cheaper. I was told when I arrived what i wanted wasn't possible. This was surprising to me because I've done way more extreme things to my hair at other salons. It seemed like she just wanted to do the easy thing and dye my hair dark brown, I could do that myself. I should of just left at this point instead of 5 hours later my hair looking the same as when I arrived. When I got home I had hair dye all over my face and ears, even across my check. Ooh..this is a little hard to do because my selfish side wants to keep him all to myself. But I cant do that because he's just too good and you need to know about Jimmy Norge. He gave me the most unbelievably beautiful balyage highlights yesterday. Finding a good stylist is like dating, you just know when it clicks right? It clicked. He took his time and did everything with so much care and energy and skill. I've never had balyage before, always had foiled highlights in the past. But my hair is short now and he knew that foils would give me the stripey look i did not want. So he asked me how much time I had and I had all night so he grabbed a palette and a brush and painted in my highlights by hand. Yes it took longer than normal because the painting in process and no-heat developing takes extra time. But I enjoyed the pampering and every day in a salon chair is a spa day in my book. Besides that the entire salon's energy and conversation is fun and friendly while you wait. Jimmy is simply awesome at doing hair and walking out the door you will know you've spent your hard earned beauty budget wisely on a great stylist who really deserves it. Drop that pricey salon that leaves you feeling ripped off and not reaaally happy with your hair. Make your appointment before he gets too booked up. But don't make me regret writing this-- six weeks from yesterday I'm going to need a touchup and he's mine. Deal? ;) read more
