I do this stuff a lot, and for many years. Today, my casual shooting buddies came along, they had never experienced run-and-gun type courses, they had never yet shot steel gong plates. We did the 1st Level course and they're all ready to go back.
I have myself run such events for law enforcement, I've seen a lot of this type of course. John & John presented a good day of fun and learning, explaining the why of their practices and ideas. I was dreading the standard high speed low drag instructors wearing 5-11 everything, but instead we found the Trigger Farm staff to be anything but typical.
Their range safety protocols were well explained, made perfect sense, and aligned well with current industry standards. I am getting wobbly in my old age, they facilitated my positive experience by offering close physical support, which I certainly approved of and accepted. They not only offered a hand, but picked up my empty mags, followed me around with a chair, and so much more.
In that you are likely young and able, this may not seem to be important, but think about it in a wider perspective. These guys are caring and respectful of individual needs- a rare thing nowadays. I saw this exhibited as they worked with newer shooters and those of lesser abilities.
In the middle of nowhere, nothing is nearby, the only thing they provide is a clean port a potty, targets, picnic tables, and some shade. Bring food, water and lots of bullets.
Very impressive. read more
