The best place to shoot in Illinois. Amazing facilities, amazing leadership. A place truly by and…read morefor its members. What you put into the club is what you get out of it.

I'm a member - I have been for a few years…read more The emphasis on safety and education at this club is impressive. The club maintains a schedule of events for just about any focus in shooting sports you may be interested in (just check the calendar at http://www.aurorasc.org/). The facilities are still pretty basic but the club has a budget and a project plan to continue development (to cover the firing lines on the ranges, for example). There aren't many (any?) ranges in the Chicagoland area where you can shoot beyond 100 yards, so this club is definitely the place for safe, long range shooting. The membership fees, even the assessments are easily justified if you add up the visits and one-time costs to use other local ranges - oh, and no waiting to shoot like some local indoor ranges (weekends). I'd give the club 5 stars if the leadership could find a more sensible way to maintain the condition of some of the ranges. They do schedule "work parties" where members can come out and get some volunteer hours (volunteering time is a requirement of membership, 5-10 hours per year). Unfortunately, I'd prefer spending what little time I have there pulling triggers and NOT swinging hammers! Otherwise, good facilities, GREAT people, and if you like to pull triggers, come out to a public event (check the calendar) and learn about membership opportunities!

This weekend I took the CCL class with Joe and Terry, and I honestly can't recommend them enough…read more I've been shooting for a few years now, but I walked away from the class feeling much more confident in my knowledge and aware of how much more there is to learn and stay sharp on. My parents took this class last year and had been nudging me to sign up. I kept putting it off because sitting in a classroom for 8 hours over a weekend sounded like a nightmare. But wow, was I wrong. Joe and Terry made the time fly. The class was engaging, informative, filled with real-life examples that tied directly into their experience, all while tying in their great senses of humor. It was clear this wasn't just a dull PowerPoint read-along like I feared I'd get elsewhere. Their team is equally amazing: super personable and helpful, both in the classroom and out on the range. I didn't catch everyone's names, but every single staff member made the environment feel comfortable and judgment-free, which I really appreciated. I can only imagine how much that meant to the people shooting for the first time. If you're on the fence about taking this class don't be. It was an insightful, empowering weekend and I'm so glad I finally did it. Thank you again, Joe and Terry!

Joe is knowledgeable, professional, and makes the renewal process smooth and informative. The whole team is welcoming and helpful--I wouldn't go anywhere else for my conceal carry needs!
