Stopped by with some of my friends for a coffee before brunch! The atmosphere was nice, the people were friendly, and the menu was also explained to us! I ordered a Honey Lavender Latte, and I can't lie, it might've been one of the best coffees of my life!! It was super refreshing and the perfect sweetness. The lavender flavor was bright but not too strong, and I think the bee pollen on top was a fun touch. Even as the ice melted in my drink over time, the coffee didn't lose its flavor and I enjoyed every sip til my cup was empty :) GAH I can't wait to go back for more!!

Service was incredible. The young man who helped me was super hospitable and went above and beyond. Since it was my first time, he walked me through the menu, recommended their most popular drink which was the Son of a Sailor and even told me about their protein pastries and donuts. I ended up getting the protein coffee cake and a burrito. The coffee was great, the burrito was stuffed and actually nutritious, and the coffee cake was packed with nutrients too... maybe a little hard to swallow but still tasty overall. Awesome first experience I'll definitely be back

Sona T.

Very good coffee and a great spot to take a break. They have gluten free pastries and a nice selection of unique cold brew drinks that are definitely worth trying. The protein bar was also delicious.

Mirei K.

The coffee was very good! I usually don't like coffee too much but their horchata drink was perfectly sweet. The drink did take a lot longer to make than I expected but it's a small shop with minimal staff so it makes sense. Cute interior and small seating area

My family and I were staying at the Hotel del Coronado for the week and we wanted to find a local coffee shop for breakfast. Trident Coffee came highly recommended, but sadly it did not hit the mark for us. We ended up going to Better Buzz the following days for our coffee and breakfast fix. This place is not cheap for a quick brekkie and coffee. I ordered the Daily Rations Cold Brew with Cold Foam ($7.70) and a Breakfast Burrito ($13.95) which came out piping hot. The burrito is not hefty by any means, but this is Coronado and not San Diego proper so I don't hold that against them. Think of it as more of a wrap. My one complaint about the burrito is that the filing is chopped up and coated in sauce so it's just a mushy experience (see picture). I was stoked when I read that it included hash brown, but since it wasn't a whole crispy hash brown, you couldn't tell the hash brown from the egg or the sausage coated in the cheesy sauce. I hate to say it, but it just tasted sloppy. The 2 gentlemen working are passionate about their craft and very friendly. This place is popular with the locals and military community and I respect that. They do offer a military discount for those eligible. Thank you to all who have served and are currently serving. I'm glad I visited and supported a local business, but this place just wasn't for me.

The nicest barista ever giving Cali her pup cup

Eliko S.

My pittie, Cali, and I popped into this adorable coffee spot on Friday afternoon. I'd just gotten some gelato down the street & Cali was feeling a little left out of treat time, so we were in search of a pup cup! We bopped into Trident Coffee which is one of the cutest coffee shops I've ever seen! Cool nautical looking light fixtures, an Octopus mascot keeping watch over the place & lots of interesting coffee, tea & nibbles options. There are a few chairs inside & few tables/chairs outside as well. The kindest barista ever was so excited to see us, especially Cali, and he made us feel so welcome. He kindly offered her a pup cup and he delightedly gave it to her. Cali loved every aspect of this interaction & I really appreciated how nice he was to my pup. This interaction really warmed my heart so much and I will definitely stop by again the next time I'm in Coronado! Mahalo!

Solid choice for a coffee fix. We tried the salted caramel cold brew and hazelnut latte. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the cold brew coffee was. Usually I'm not a fan of cold brew because I like my coffee a little more on the creamier side. Very unique flavors. Service was also good. They have military discount as well. We didn't see the sign until after we've already paid. But good to know!

Honey Lavender Latte, Blackberry Cobbler Latte

Sarah C.

super cool store known for their specialty cold brews! we tried the Honey Lavender Latte and Blackberry Cobbler Latte, and they certainly add enough cream/ flavor that they taste more like lattes, but with the cold brew bases. drinks weren't insanely sweet, definitely recommend if you want to be adventurous!

The lavender latte and the Bourbon latte

We absolutely loved this local coffee spot! Not only was the coffee a great taste but the service was amazing. We took a stroll while on vacation and found this great gem.

My friend wanted to go for a birthday run in Coronado. I wanted coffee right after the run which was something I looked forward to as I pushed myself to finish the run LOL. I found this shop with a variety of cold brew options which also included nitro cold brews on the tap! As a coffee drinker, I definitely had to check it out. The location that we went to is located next to some local shops on Orange Ave in "downtown" Coronado. There's a lot of free street parking around the area but could get very hectic and almost impossible to find during holiday season, dinner hours, and weekends. My boyfriend and I wanted to try their cold brew flight, however, they only had 2 sets for the flights which was already taken by another couple. Whaaat sad. Instead, I got their New Orleans Cold Foam, one of the cold brews, annnnd it was kind of sour. It was kind of confusing, giving sweetish taste but with the sourness kept overcoming the coffee bitterness that I was looking for. I personally don't like sour cold brews but that's my own preference. Some people might enjoy them sour, but I don't think they should be sour... However, my friend and boyfriend both liked it though. My boyfriend got their Mexican Mocha, not sweet at all surprisingly! It was quite good, and the aesthetics of the drink were beautiful! Definitely a lot better than the one I got. I was bummed that I couldn't try their cold brew flight but after trying the New Orleans Cold Foam, I was a bit glad that we didn't. Maybe it was a one off day where their cold brew was steeping too long... I definitely will give it another go in the future to try their flight in the future though.

Whitney T.

I got the trident cold brew with oat milk and my bf got the turmeric latte with oat milk. Usually i am a fan of sweeter milky coffee drinks but i was pleasantly surprised with my cold brew drink! It was very smooth and didn't taste bitter at all. Normally I add sweetness to my drinks but the cold brew was super refreshing on its own without any sweetness. The turmeric latte was sweet and had a cinnamon taste and my bf loved it as well. Would love to come back the next time I am visiting Coronado!!

Kristy W.

Best cold brew i have ever had! It was so smooth with no bitterness. I usually drink oat milk iced lattes but i would have Trident cold brew everyday if i could.

Jason L.

I'm a cold brew kind of guy. Trident is a big W for me because they offer several varieties of cold brew, fancied up versions with added flavors and sweeteners and even cold brew flights. Swoooooon. Quaint little shop right in the thick of it on Orange Ave in Coronado. Close to the beach, tons of people watching and very walkable. Clean establishment and friendly service.

Great cold brew with unique flavors in each. Son of a son of a sailor (cinnamon) is my favorite, but all are good. The keto bakery items are tasty and filling. They are cake style donuts in consistency. Leslie (barista) gave excellent customer service, allowing me to try the different flavors and explaining the notes in each. Thank you! read more

On a quick getaway with the wife for an early Valentines Day date. Found this place on Yelp and walked past Better Buzz and Starbucks to get here in the rain. Great choice! The honey lavender latte and americano that we got were super delicious. The branding in this place is insane! The art director who created their merch did a great job. I was so excited to try some coffee from an independent shop. Because of the latish hour, I got 3/4 decaf and a quarter regular cold brew-- delicious and still had plenty of caffeine. I haven't had a donut since high school---because it is perhaps one of the worst thing you could eat. When I saw that they not only had keto donuts but were infused with protein, I HAD to try one. I was hesitant about trying the coconut one with a chocolate drizzle, because I thought it would taste too sweet. Much to my pleasant surprise-- it wasn't! Yay! Wow-- it was so delicious! Now I can't wait to try a keto bagel when available! The staff are so lovely too! Cherry and Ashley are so sweet-- pun intended! read more

There are a lot of options for coffee shops in Coronado but from the moment I stepped into this cute little spot I knew I'd never have to look any further. Trident is officially my go to spot in Coronado. Their nitro cold brew has me hooked but it's the coffee combined with the amazing service I receive anytime I go there is what has me coming back for more. I was blessed by the coffee Gods and have had Yesenia as my barista. She always knows what to recommend to wake me up & bring me back to life!! Really disappointed in this spot after multiple attempts to give them the benefit of the doubt. The overall atmosphere and attitude of the workers are Awsome but there coffees are not Good! I tried the cans from fridge and they lack flavor. Their peanut butter and banana keto, I was so stoked for only to be let down had tasted very bitter and nasty not even one sip of peanut butter and banana flavor in my mouth such a let down i had to toss it in trash . Tried their taps. Same thing and their keto bagles. Got the jalapeño chedder. Ewww it tasted spongey and grosss. I know they mean good but I'm sorry I rather stick to Dark Horse or hawthorn coffee at least their cold brews are on point :). read more

Since it was my first time with so many cold brew choices on tap, I spoke to the girl ( I'm sorry I didn't get her name ) and answered her questions about the type of coffee and taste I like. Cool little coffee house with cold brews on tap, but I came in for a cappuccino as I prefer traditional hot coffee in the morning. I didn't expect the cappuccino to have a prominent chocolate flavor from the beans. Truly a remarkable cappuccino. I ended up buying a few bags of coffee to go and a cool cap to sport around. And the barista was very cool and knowledgeable. He gave a sample of cold brew from tap. Really cool you can try before you buy. Crafting America’s Finest Cold Brew.

Meet the Business Owner: Eric J.

Serving as a Naval Officer, Eric Johnson started brewing his own cold brew coffee during his final tour of duty in Iraq. He noticed how coffee and tea act as a bridge between cultural differences. All of the chaos of conflict would pause between him and village elders for a brief moment while enjoying a nice cup of coffee or tea together. Two cultures born a world apart were communicating on so many levels without saying a word- that was it! Eric had found his calling and thus set out to create Trident Coffee Roasters.

Seeing flies inside a closed food display is already unpleasant, but the casual response from the employee made the experience even more disappointing. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses the sanitation issue, as well as how concerns like this are handled with customers.

We added the Spicy Tuna & Crispy Rice appetizer, and this dessert, Molten Butter Cake. Well, we definitely made the right decision by splitting the club sando as half portion was more than enough. The appetizer Spicy Tuna was absolutely delicious, and the dessert was simply heavenly! Lastly, that Pina Colada Cocktail just couldn't be better!! If there's just one thing that could be improved was the speed of service. We weren't sure if the foods were just late in getting cooked and prepped, or if there's just a delay in getting them delivered...but it took quite awhile. Again, the place was bustling as well. It's supposedly made with ceremonial grade matcha, but I couldn't taste it in the drink. The strawberry syrup was bland. The service was excellent so that's all I'm going off of. The menu did look pretty fire though, so I'd be willing to give it another shot cause for all intents and purposes, the other people in the restaurant seemed to be really enjoying the food! But anyways... I'm a skillet cookie connoisseur. Any place that has a skillet cookie, I'm going there SOLEY to order it. If I ever get married, instead of having cake, my guests will be having skillet cookies for dessert instead. Some might say I love skillet cookies even more than Scottie Scheffler. My love for skillet cookies runs deeper than the Mariana trench and I've been to more than (at least) 11 restaurants to exclusively try them out. With that out of the way... I'm horrified to report this is the worst skillet cookie I've ever had in my entire life. It somehow felt overcooked, yet undercooked at the same time. It was also like they cooked it at an angle. Because it awkwardly occupied 3/4ths of the skillet. It had the consistency of a cake but the taste of a cookie? It was like they couldn't decide whether or not they wanted to make a cake or a cookie. So instead, they decided to half bake something that was in between. I couldn't believe it. It was also completely lacking in the chocolate chip department. All in all, this skillet cookie had a worse performance than Michael Jordan during his high school varsity tryouts. I'll admit it too... I completely lied to the waitress when she came over and asked me how the cookie was. Instead of telling her the truth, I gave her two thumbs up and said, " it's good!".... It was not good. It was terrible! I'm a coward.

Our server was sweet and somewhat attentive. She checked in right after bringing our food and then we didn't see her again until we were done eating and out of drinks. Before I get started on the hundreds of amazing things to say about this place, let's start off with one "annoying" thing. It was hard to find. There were absolutely no signs in the hotel pointing you to where the restaurants would be. We also asked several hotel staff members and got even more confused. Once we found the little strip of several restaurants, we accidentally walked right past it thinking it was apart of the NoBu restaurant. Now that I know where it is, I'll know exactly where to go. Let's talk about all the GOOD! The view was beautiful. There were lots of kids playing on the grass in front of the restaurant but the way they set up the place, it wasn't loud at all and cute to see. The staff members were on top of their game. Nothing went unnoticed! They all worked as a team. The Knowledge about the restaurant, the food, and the drinks was very impressive. Even if you couldn't decide, they would happily guide you to make the right choices. - I want to give a shoutout to Mark our waiter. He was an absolute delight. He was witty, knowledgeable, lead us in the right direction, and spoiled us for our birthday celebration dinner. He made the experience 10x better. About the food...I'm still thinking about the delicious food they served and it's been weeks since I was there. I want to put extra attention on the halibut ceviche, WOW! That needs to be a staple is you visit, it's a must try. Also please don't ever take this off the menu! I would solely travel out here just for the alone and buy 5 at a time (yes it was that good). The sauce they put it in makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Everything here is very unique and worth it. There wasn't one bad food item at all. Plus the drinks, were so smooth. If for whatever reason you wanted to alter your drink (like someone at my party did) they were happy to accommodate and then they also executed perfectly. It is a little bit on the pricier side, but once you experience the service, the extra care, and the delicious food you can confidently say it's worth it. I hope more people experience this place, they deserve more than five stars.

The focaccia was good, although I didn't care for the chicken-like flavor of the butter served with it. The Greek chicken was bland. I couldn't tell what made it "Greek," since the seasoning added little flavor, and the chicken was simply cut into chunks. The whole fish of the day tasted good, but I was shocked to find out it cost $200. When I asked what the fish of the day was, our server told me what it was but didn't mention the market price. I would never have ordered it had I known. I was also left unsure what the preparation was supposed to be. At the table, the server squeezed lemon over the fish, and that was the extent of the presentation I saw. I understand that "market price" can vary, but $200 is a price I would have expected the server to disclose before we ordered. Between that surprise, the slow and messy service, and food that was mostly underwhelming, the views were not enough to make up for the experience. I won't be back, ever.

I was so impressed with the food and drink options available at Trident Coffee, especially as someone with dietary restrictions. I ordered the horchata coffee and carrot coffee cake, and both exceeded my expectations.
