If you want real Ethiopian or Eritrean food, you're going to have to drive southwest to Decatur,…read moreClarkston, or Atlanta. This isn't ethiopian food. the authentic flavors simply are not here. Once you taste the real thing, this place won't even cross your mind again -- and that's no disrespect to the very kind owner and staff, but the food speaks for itself. I'm honestly shocked this restaurant has so many high reviews. I'm assuming the owner wants to accomodate the flavor palate of the type of clientelle in the area. I know for sure most people reviewing have never had actual East African food before. Authentic Ethiopian cuisine has bold, unmistakable spices and deep, layered flavor. This food was extremely mild, bland, and nowhere near authentic. It tasted like the dishes were made with basic black pepper, paprika, and turmeric instead of traditional spices like real berbere, mitmita, korerima (black cardamom), or mekelesha. These spices are what make Ethiopian food taste like Ethiopian food. Without them, it's just another stew. If you're truly looking for authentic Ethiopian food, go to a restaurant in the city. You will not regret it.

We were immediately seated an enjoyed cocktails -- I had their version of a margarita. It was smokey but not overpowering. My friend enjoyed the sangria. We split the potatoes, cheese board and the gluten free chicken shawarma pizzette. The potatoes were the best and I really liked the cheeseboard too. The jam made the cheese flavors pop! For our entree we split the short rib which was perfect since it normally comes with two pieces. It was so flavorful and delicious. We didn't sty for dessert since we had a GymDawgs meet to get to and they seemingly didn't have a chocolate option. Great service. Great food and great drinks.

It took me a while to get a drink. Started with some tapas, the mushrooms, the potato's and the dates. The mushrooms were good but over battered. Could even tell you were eating mushrooms. The potatoes were not fully soft and lacked salt and flavor. The tomato spread on top also lacked flavor. The dates and manchengo cheese was just werid in presentation and hard to eat. We had to order bread, not something I'm used to especially with the tapas. Ordered the branzino for 2. Others ordered the steak and pork chops. The steak came out cold and the pork chop was overcooked. The branzino was nice, but the sides were cold. One of our party ordered another beer which he did not get until I summoned the manger over. All in all- overrated Food-1.5 Ambiance-meh Service-1

First time here and recommended by a colleague. I was a little concerned about dining out in Athens…read moreduring a busy Saturday afternoon but fortunately the N Chase location is perfectly tucked away, distant enough from the downtown area. I was 3rd in line and pleasantly surprised + pleased. Think Chipotle meets Chopt (the salad bar ). Fresh ingredients. LOTS of mix and match options OR preset menu items. And just as many drink options, including locally made kombucha. I ordered the winter salad and low country plates. With the exception of the turmeric ginger dressing (a little too zesty for me) and the hoppin John salad (hoppin John OR salad ... not both ) EVERYTHING was delicious. I enjoyed the salad way more than I thought I would. The spicy avocado dressing is YUMMY! The greens were cooked to perfection - another shocker. The edamame crunch, tofu and crunchies were just as delicious. I will visit the Atlanta location just to try the fritters! A wonderfully healthy and scrumptious delight !

Flavor however, is lacking. I was underwhelmed. That's the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars. I didn't realize the broccoli would be cold. That also threw me off. It was empty when we arrived and we were served immediately. The environment was a bit stale but only because the place was empty. If you enjoy minimal seasoning, you will love it here. I liked it, but I didn't love it.

That said, fight the traffic and construction weirdness and get your butt in here. I had the georgia peach French toast plate with eggs and bacon. Definitely the best French toast I've had in a long time. One (albeit minor) issue - they said they do "soft scrambled" eggs, but they came out pretty much regular. This is a common issue with pretty much every breakfast restaurant I go to, so no removal of a star. But I'd recommend you tell waitstaff that you don't do soft scrambled if you really don't. This place is inviting and warm, and the service was great.

Thus is my pain when recounting our visit to Mama's Boy. We stopped here for breakfast before heading out of town on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in September. Prior to visiting, I read that the wait here can be a bit intimidating but we lucked out coming on a day when there was an away football game which I think took some folks out of town as we only had to wait about 20-25 minutes. It's a casual joint where you order at the counter (but only after you've been given a table) and the food is bangin'. I was not playing it healthy here, going for the Truck Stop Biscuits & Gravy which was a biscuit topped with sausage gravy, sweet tea brined fried chicken, and topped with scrambled eggs. For my side I went with grits (because when in the south!) and of course I had a refreshing strawberry lemonade to wash it all down with. Everything was excellent. The biscuit was fluffy, the chicken was juicy, the gravy was flavorful...and it was all perfect together. And the grits were so rich and smooth and so very tasty! It was casual service but everyone who we encountered was really lovely. Bless the mama's boys of the world for bringing us such a delicious dining experience!
