Triassic is really cute. With plenty of patio space and grassy areas this is definitely a gorgeous little property that would make a fun spring or fall destination. Just make sure they are open and serving before you make the adventure out here. They are often closed early for private events and don't always post about it on social media or otherwise. In addition, they weren't pouring wines because the recent power outage from PG&E. I imagine it has to do with not having running water (their pump wasn't working) and health code stuff. We ended up buying several wines and have tried so far just the Big Bang which was a good easy drinking red wine. Prices are a little on the higher side - but comparable with all other wineries in the Central California area. read more

This has become a stable every time we visit our friends in Tehachapi, its a beautiful location both in the summer and in winter. There is music in the weekends and other events but we only come for a couple of glasses of wine, their Zinfandel usually is great, now forget about the tastings just because the pours are so small, but go here and get a glass on Zin and a Cheese plate and enjoy, you can always get one more. The ladies here are super sweet and you feel welcome every time, and with that your forget that it is a little on the expensive side. I recommend! read more

This is a great place to bring out of town guest. I came here in the autumn and their enclosed patio and patio heaters were perfect. They have a beautiful lawn area with lots of seating. Our order was brought to our table in a timely manner and, though there was only one person working, he was very courteous and attentive. The Zinfandel and almond wine were our favorites. I'm considering joining their wine club because we liked so many of the wines. read more

This is one of those little out-of-the-way gems that is soooo worth looking for. The staff is friendly, the wines are lovely, and the scenery from the patio is breathtaking. They source their grapes from Paso Robles, but do have a small working vinyard around the tasting room. TLV hasn't made any wine from these grapes yet, but the owner, Chuck, says it is just a matter of time. If you are a serious wine drinker, by all means, SKIP the almond champagne and port, as thy are coyingly sweet and not up to the quality of the rest of their selections. This review is a little more on behalf of my girlfriend, a wine lover. To be taken with a grain of salt, she considers herself to be a bit of a wine snob and has high expectations. While she enjoyed some of the wines, she found most of them to be merely ok. They were also a bit overpriced, and the fact that you had to buy 3 wines as opposed to the normal two at most wineries seemed a bit stingy. However, perhaps the bulk of their profits come from the wine tastings as opposed to branding. What I did love was the set-up of the place. A dart board outside makes it a welcoming place to spend the afternoon, as does the patio with sweeping valley views. The barbecues available for personal use also make it an inviting spot to enjoy a bottle and some food. The staff was nice though and it had a scenic setting. Overall, it would probably sit between a 3 and 4 stars. read more

As we were wrapping up our RV trip we decided to stop here. It was a GREAT decision. The wines were good, beautiful place and great service. We did the basic tasting and ended up ordering a bottle of the Zin. It was a smooth, silky wine! A bit on the expensive side but worth it. We ended up talking to the owner which is a complete pleasure to talk to and he is so eager to share the story of the winery and answer questions. While we were there they were serving a catered dinner and sadly it was by reservation only and they had sold out. It looked and smelled good though! Not only does Triassic have wonderful wine but the atmosphere is delightful! The woman who poured our sampler was related to the current owner. She explained how the winery was founded and what the original owner had done to open it. Fascinating story by the way! I've visited here a few times and always have a great time! But yesterday took the cake! My twin sister and her family are currently moving to Monterey from Colorado. They asked us if we would be willing to meet in Tehachapi so we could see my niece and nephew. I instantly suggested meeting at Triassic. We knew after three days stuck in a car, they wouldn't want to sit in a restaurant with their 5 year old and 7 month old and expect them to sit quietly. Triassic has gas grills so we brought hot dogs to BBQ. We were worried that it was going to be hot (we live in Rosamond and it was 100 degrees). It was 90 degrees and you couldn't even tell. They have a beautiful grassy area that my niece was able to run around on. We laid a blanket down on the grass and relaxed with my nephew. Jim, the owner, instantly greeted us and sat us on the side of the grassy area, where there was a grill. He got us all set up and the woman who was working brought out wine glasses for those of us who were enjoying a wine tasting. Since we knew we had to drive 40 mins away, we asked for a tastings to be spread out. We just wanted to sit, relax, eat and savor our wine. I liked the fact that they didn't rush us through our tasting. We really enjoyed that the owner and staff came out and hung out with us. They'd bring a glass of wine, sit and ask us questions. They told us the history of Triassic, which was so interesting. My Dad, who doesn't drink and honestly didn't want to go, signed my Mom up for the Wine Club because he was so impressed by the attentiveness and care they showed us. He thought the place was absolutely beautiful. We were just so impressed. We felt like family. I made some homemade chocolate cake which we enjoyed with their red blend called the Big Bang. That was amazing! I thanked the owner and staff by sharing some cake with them. Next time we go back, we will be BBQing again and sharing food with all of them. They're hard workers and make sure you have a great time! OH! And the cutest part was at 630pm they had Goat Yoga. We got to watch people take a yoga class with goats playing all around them. They were head butting, going underneath everyone and jumping on people's backs. It was hilarious! And my niece loved it. We all couldn't stop saying how perfect it was. They also had juice boxes for niece and crayons and coloring books. She kicked a soccer ball and played catch with all of us. They really do all they can to make sure everyone is happy. What a fun venue. After a day full of driving we decided to pop into this winery to unwind for the first time. We were immediately greeted, given menus and informed of the wines and pours. We tried the full tasting and couldn't decide which wine was our favorite, they were all very good. We became wine members and now enjoy visiting as often as we can for the Friday night dinners, relaxed Saturdays or the music on Sundays. This is a great place to come and enjoy great wines and beautiful scenery. The atmosphere is relaxed yet fun. read more

I always like finding great wines that aren't from a large commercial winery and I can brag about to friends. There are plenty out there, but few are brag worthy. First, owner Sally is a gem. She has great stories to share and the love for her vineyard is very apparent. Second, the wine. The Zinfandel is spectacular and very brag worthy. This has just become my go to wine -- only if I had easier access to it. Regardless, it is worth a little more effort to get. I have shared this with a friend and he too is hooked. The tasting room is at this site, but not the winery. The wine is made in Paso Robles where most of the grapes are sourced. The vineyard around the tasting room isn't just for show, but they haven't released any wines using those grapes. Although the tasting room is next to the highway, getting there is tougher. After getting off the highway, most of the drive is on dirt roads. This is good wine. I could have skipped the almond Champagne and the Port, but liked the $22 Zinfandel enough to buy a bottle and the Syrah was a solid wine. Wonderful vineyard & wine tasting... we took the five wine flight. I called ahead to make sure they were pet-friendly, and they told me dogs were welcome on the patio. That did not prepare me for the FANTASTIC reception we received from these super-friendly people. They brought water out for Sophie, gave her tons of loving, & of course everyone showed pictures of their own pets. My husband and I visited here on a rainy day. Absolutely gorgeous view of the mountains and vineyard. The owner Jim came to greet us in the outdoor heated patio and gave us a rundown on his wine and the triassic dirt the vines are grown on; hence the name. Second time trying this little gem. I love the Sparkling Almond Wine bought some for gifts. The flight is $15 but if you buy wine they wave the fee. The wine prices are very reasonable for a winery. There is only one flight but it really gives you a chance to taste their specialties. I also really like the merlot, it is 'oaky' and rich and I will splurge on a bottle next time. Sitting outside we brought our own sandwiches and made a wonderful picnic in 72 degrees with a light breeze. Great escape from Bakersfield heat. It really is a wonderful location and not to far (5 miles) from Tehachapi. There are others in the Cummings Valley I need to explore but I have not been able to drive by this winery yet. Came here on a chocolate and wine pairing event. The wine tasting usually costs $2 for each taste. The wine club is free, but needs a commitment of 12 bottles a year. The average bottle of wine here costs about $30~50, but does not have free tastings. Only have discount of 15% for wines and can go to 3 events per year. The view here at the patio is breathtaking with view of Laguna lake and the snow capped mountain. The GPS direction here is a detour. Better route is directly fome from 202.
