My friend described this to me as either grandmas/grandpas who've been coming here since the dawn of time, and then a bunch of vegans of our generation. It's that neighbourhood spot that people keep coming back to all the time, and the bartender knows exactly what they're drinking and has it at the ready as soon as they're sitting down. It's that spot where a bunch of punks with tattoos on their heads, and incendiary slogans on their t-shirts chow down on vegan pizza. It's the spot where that vegan college kid whose parents are in from out of town, and won't go to one of those "weird vegan places" so here we all are, with them ordering meat, and the vegan kid getting a meal that isn't French fries. It's both homey and inviting while being fun too. It's a huge spot, with lots of little alcoves and corners to tuck your group into, so that you can have privacy to hang out while still being part of the community. On a Sunday morning, the TV had Shrek playing on there. The Bloody Mary has pickle brine in it. The mimosas come from sparkling wine that's on tap. The water is served in those old school hard plastic red drinking glasses like you got at the Pizza Hut buffet back in the day. The fried food is served in those little plastic trays lined with parchment paper. Genuinely, this feels like finding buried treasure and I'm sad at all the time I've wasted not coming here before now. This place is absolutely awesome. Now the food. Polenta fries were creamy on the inside, and crisp on the outside, and not greasy at all. Vegan fried dough was piled high with cinnamon and sugar, and served with the side of maple syrup. The vegan sausage and peppers sandwich was piled high with both! Seriously guys, the portions here are generous, and the food is delicious. If something sounds good, it's probably going to be good. Service is friendly and the servers are knowledgeable about the food. Our waitress didn't have to go ask the kitchen or bar about anything we had questions on. She knew right off the top of her head, and got us sorted very quickly. You feel safe when you're in the hands of folk this good at their job. read more

I love triangle and come often. It's super chill inside and a very reasonable place for the Passyunk area. I'm not vegan but always get the seitan wings because they're so good. Basically my order is always half and half seitan wings, polenta fries, and a shot and a beer. I don't drink a lot of beer but they always have a sour so I love that and they have house prosecco and an orange adult slushie. The chicken parm and spaghetti, and the mussels are all great options here. Everyone is always really nice and accommodating when we sit outside with our dogs. read more

I have really tried to give them a chance, time and time again, however, their waitstaff has proven to be one of the most condescending groups of people I've ever encountered. One of their waiters was not only extremely rude to myself but the rest of the guests I had brought in. I could MAYBE understand if they were busy, but this was on a weeknight where the place was half empty.... I've worked in food service for many years and really try not to put a place on blast, but this establishment needs MAJOR customer service training. I don't even want to repeat the comments made by the staff. I most definitely will not be returning. Save yourself the wasted time and go to ANY other bar on Passyunk. Amazing vegan wings. Probably the second best I've ever had. The Seiten textures are spot on. The nooks and crannies of the Seiten gets tones of sauce on it and the thicker parts are super jucy while the thinner ones are chewy. We got the half and half option - spicy and BBQ. Both were good in their own way and if we had only gone with one option we might have gotten a little tired of it so the split was good. That's the other thing, there are tones of wings. Put that together with the amount of sauce and it filled up both of us even though we were pretty hungry. The outside seating is nice with good weather and much quieter as well. We stopped by to have a couple beers and watch a game on a Friday afternoon. There were many regulars sitting at the bar. The staff and bartenders are like family or super close friends because they had a very homely vibe. Lots of space at the back dedicated as a dining room. Even at an odd hour of 3:30 PM, there were quite a few people drinking and eating and their kitchen was super busy. Inspite of being busy, service was prompt. This place is awesome! With a local ambience and a solid beer/cocktail selection this place makes for a great spot to stop by and catch a game. However it stands out with its wide array of vegan/vegetarian offerings! I had the vegan cheesesteak which was great (though I'm not a native Philadelphian and this was my first ever cheesesteak so take that with a grain of salt). Staff was kind and attentive. Came from out of town. Tried the vegan Philly. Was highly disappointed. The meat was chewy like chewing on sheets of hard plastic. There was more meat on one side than the other half of the sandwich. The cheese sauce was alright, but salty. The entire sandwich was very salty. The bread was dry. It was a terrible experience. Eek, I have a new favorite in Philly! I visited Triangle for the first time a few weeks back, for the zucchini hoagie on special... and I've been back twice since for the same sandwich. It was incredible: savory fried and breaded zucchini, spicy broccoli rabe, roasted pepper sauce, fresh local tomatoes, and the best vegan mozzarella I've ever tried. My husband and I split the sandwich and a vegan Caeser. The salad is also incredible. The place has a very 60s vibe. It's kind of dark, super welcoming, somehow both always busy but we never have a wait for a table or the food. I also had the boozy wooder ice (frozen cocktail) and it was incredibly potent and tasty. Super fun that it comes with a pretzel rod. We'll be back again and I'm looking forward to trying out some other menu items (I'm stuck on that zucchini hoagie but I imagine it will be off the menu soon, since it's seasonal!) read more

Came here for the vegan menu, and it was very hit or miss. The mozzarella sticks could've been cooked better as it was hard, but also almost burnt. The wings are great as always, and although I did not have the pizza, it looked and smelled amazing. The service was quite slow for the amount of folks in the establishment. It feels weird giving a 5 to such a divey kind of spot but as far as dives go, this is a new favorite. The service was super friendly, the vibe is just simply a classic dive/tavern, and it's in a great location in East Passyunk. My boyfriend and I split the meatball sandwich and the chicken parm sandwich and omg both were so good, although I favored the chicky parmie. I would definitely order that one again. I can only share shot my experience with the vegan eats here and this place does not miss!! I had an espresso martini to start and my main course was the vegan wings - mixed the two flavor choices, a vegan cheesesteak and a side of fries which remind you of boardwalk fries. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious! Service was great and the menu is robust with choices for vegan, vegetarian and meatetraian options! I'll be back for sure to try out the vegan breakfast pizza, the dough vegan pastry plus the dinner selections like spaghetti and meat(less)balls. The place is a little divy looking but it's clean and has lots of pictures of what I assume is the history of the place. You can eat at the bar or in the dining area right off the bar. I witnessed some cool interactions with other patrons and bar/dining staff. So happy to have found this place. Triangle Tavern has been on my list for the last 2+ years ever since becoming more plant based. I absolutely loved my first visit! First off - BEST VEGAN SEITAN BUFFALO WINGS I've had to date, and I've had quite a bit! It's a pound of seitan that they hand tear and season. I really like how they fry it up and make it crispy, reminds me of actual wings when you get the crunchy bits - and very well seasoned. The vegan caesar was okay, it was a solid salad but didn't really taste like caesar to me. Bar vibe is local and divey, very friendly and helpful staff on my first visit. This bar is located in South Philly. While this bar looks like an average typical South Philly bar, it actually has a variety of vegan and vegetarian options which are pretty amazing. I had the spicy broccoli which was amazing. It was steamed perfectly and the spices they put on it really helped bring out the flavor of the broccoli. They also had a grilled pineapple and ham salad as a special. It was a really good salad. I like the originality of the salad (I've never heard of a pineapple/ham salad in my life). I like how they used big chunks of pineapple, and I also liked how the ham was processed in a jerky kind of manner. I tried a bite of my friends vegan cauliflower hoagie. I honestly really enjoyed the taste of it. I would definitely recommend it even to a meat eater. read more
