She wishes she had found Dr. Scurria years ago. Because of her experience with Dr. Scurria, I transferred to his practice. My "routine" cleanings are very thorough. The staff I have worked with (Daniela, Jacie, Sandy, Mimi, and Jill) are some of the kindest and most professional people I have ever dealt with. I give Dr. Scurria & his team an A+!

Angie's List has Dr. Leech top-rated, so I had planned on visiting there "sometime." Sometime became now when a molar fractured; calling the office I was able to be seen quickly even without an appointment. Dr. Leech and his entire staff are incredible; courtesy and a warm welcome do much to alleviate the nervousness I always feel when entering any dentist's office; their professional demeanor and efficiency are the best I've found. The options for treatment are explained by Dr. Leech clearly and he involves the patient in the decision regarding what to do (rather than telling you what he is going to do). I tend to get pretty anxious about dental visits, but Amy, my hygienist, was so friendly and made me feel completely at ease. She was really patient and took the time to explain everything she was doing, which helped calm my nerves a lot. My only feedback would be about the cost clarity. I went in thinking I was just getting a routine cleaning, but ended up needing a deeper cleaning, which added an extra $93 to the bill. I was also told I'd need to come back in six weeks for the routine cleaning, which would be covered by my insurance. I wish I'd been made aware of this at the start so I could have been prepared for the additional charge. Aside from that, everything went really well. The staff was professional and friendly, and I'll be back for my next visit. Amy really made the whole experience much less stressful, and I'm grateful for that!

I would like to give a special acknowledgment to my hygienist Amy. I have lost count regarding how many times I have moved as well as how many hygienists have treated me. In addition to her superior dental skills she is also a truly wonderful person. Immediately upon meeting Amy it like she's been your best friend forever. She is genuinely warm and always is a highly interesting conversationalist. My family and myself always look forward to seeing Amy. Without any reservations, I highly recommend Dr. Shepard and his practice at Modern Dental of Durham.

As someone who REALLY loves his soda, they know me quite well... Appointments are getting a little harder to come by lately - obviously word has gotten out about Dr. Davis' practice! When you make an appointment, you rarely have to wait more than 5-10 minutes to be called back, and the services are performed quickly but thoroughly. I work close to the office and have even gone in for a couple of visits during a lunch hour. Since I have been a patient, Dr. Davis' staff has been growing, adding both new hygienists and new dentists. I have been seen by most everyone in the practice, and have always had just as good an experience as with Dr. Davis himself. The practice has just moved to a new, larger office, so I would imagine they are still accepting new patients. If you are looking for a dentist, particularly in the RTP/Southpoint area, I would definitely recommend calling Dr. Davis right away.

I've always been to a dentist where the assistant cleans your teeth, and the dentist comes in afterwards to check her work. This was definitely not the case with Dr. Allison. As soon as I finished x-rays, he came in and thoroughly cleaned my teeth, catching some areas of concern that my previous dentist had missed. My teeth look the best they've looked in years, even when I was going to the dentist regularly. I transferred dentists as part of a move from Raleigh to Durham and based on a referral from a…read moreneighbor. Unfortunately, we did not have a good (net) experience. We are a family with fairly healthy teeth, practice regular hygiene and dental cleanings, and had no significant issues 10 months (long stretch due to Covid) prior at our prior long-term dentist--upon seeing Dr. Gaddis, multiple cavities, root canals, and others services were promoted, many of questionable need. Pros: Good location, nice office, new equipment/technology, thorough hygienists, nice staff (for the most part), good bedside manner (for the most part) Cons: 1. Wife was referred for THREE root canals, ALL of which our endodontist told us he has no idea what Dr. Gaddis was referring to. Gaddis also referred us (like all her clients) to an endodontist that has many poor reviews, which was an early red flag, and why we ended up selecting our own (that is highly reviewed). It also raises the specter of potential quid pro quo between the two practices. 2. Gaddis told me my daughter needed sealant because of her baby teeth cavities being an indicator for her proclivity to cavities. When I said my prior dentist told us baby teeth are not a good indicator for cavities in permanent teeth (because they're weaker, less enamel, etc), she said "I don't recall hearing that in school". After a quick Internet search, I confirmed it is well known amongst professionals in the field that baby teeth cavities are NOT a good indicator for the health of adult teeth, leading me to conclude Gaddis either doesn't know some fundamental facts in dentistry or is intentionally discarding what she knows to promote more services (consistent with Con #1)...either of which is not good. 3. Front office staff can be a bit edgy/dry/cold...not outright mean, but not generally warm, like our prior practice. It's not a deal-breaker on its own, but coupled with the other issues not helpful. We were really hoping that we'd found a new dental home and allowed benefit of the doubt several times, but ultimately too many red flags have pushed us back to our prior practice until we can find a better local option.
