im being generous with 2 stars. wanted to try out a new rink than the one i usually go to and it was a horrible experience and complete waste of money sadly. the ice was jagged and difficult to skate on. the rental boots were absolute garbage, they were bent and i had to trade for a new pair a few times because i quite literally couldn't skate. the place was packed and extremely chaotic, ive never seen a place as chaotic as this one. there was no order on the rink nor outside of the rink where parents were standing. it was an absolute jungle. people were chipping ice off the rink and throwing it at people. i will never return to this rink again. read more

First time visit during a hockey jamboree. The facility is set up to where spectators can only view the game from one end of the rink. (See diagram I uploaded under Photos) This resulted in a sea of humanity attempting to get a decent view of the games which was challenging. Ice condition was poor. Kids had to push the puck along with zero glide on its own. Zamboni made no difference as they hardly laid any water down during their ice cut. The one positive feedback I can provide is the smaller rink size fits well for 8U hockey. But they should avoid hosting future tournaments and stick to public skatings and team practices. But that ice needs to be fixed. read more

So sorry to give a low rating but here we go: 1. Place is quite run down 2. No music ( but not that big of a deal ) 3. The shoe laces......we had to lace up the skates ourselves and the ends of the lace is all fizzled so we spent a good 8 to 10 minutes trying our best to lace up the skates from start to end . We asked if they had a diff. pair but they didn't. 4. We signed waivers but the people in front of us didn't need to sign waivers....not sure why. 5. Place is a lot ....and I mean, a lot smaller than the rink in Dublin. CA What sold me to go here in the first place was that there are buckets for the little ones to hold on to since my 5 yr old can't skate. Basically they are utility buckets turned upside down and you just stack them up to fit your right height. It's not the proper ones to help you skate around. One good thing was that it wasn't crowded on a Sat night.....but the overall experience wasn't the best. read more

I came with my friends for one of the special summer events and got free skate rentals from dressing in patriotic colours that day :) I'm no pro-skater, while my best friend had taken lessons years before (so basically pro in my book), and the fact that both of us really had a lot of fun shows that Tri Valley Ice is good for the novice and seasoned skater out there. The ice is pretty sturdy, and the railing around the side is safe for all the beginner skaters out there (like myself) who spend the first ten minutes stubbornly clinging to the edge from fear. There's also a lot of bucket towers provided that beginner skaters can use to lean on while they skate. I liked that there were two medium-sized rinks, so you could easily transfer from one to the other if the rink you're on had too many people zooming around. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and overall it was a great experience! (Skate rentals are $5 and entry is $10) read more

We were introduced to Tri Valley Ice by a friend. We are so glad that are our kids are involved in their hockey program. Both our daughter and son are in their travel and in-house teams, respectively. The sport of hockey has brought a lot of physical and social growth to both our kids. They learn new skills in skating and puck handling. At the same time, they learn the value of team sport. Where every person is playing for the team, not for him/herself. The coaches are great at Tri Valley Ice. There is good coordination and a healthy family-like atmosphere. The hockey program is managed by different stakeholders depending on the group or program. But each one has its own unique way of encouraging the kids to learn and be part of a community. I especially love their learn to play hockey program. For $0.00 (Yes, it's free), girls get to try out ice hockey to learn basic skating and stick handling skills. To top it off, they provide fee uniforms to the participants. We've been coming to Tri-Valley Ice since they first opened and love what they have to offer. Started off just taking advantage of their open ice times. My daughter took their ice skating classes for a few years and my sons been involved with their hockey program for five years now. The rinks here are a bit on the smaller side but it's cool that they have two which allows for way more activities than what Dublin Iceland offers. Seating to watch games/practice is probably their biggest downfall here. But on the flip side they have ample locker rooms, a pro shop (that also sharpens and molds skates), and a snack bar which also serves alcohol for those really long days at the rink. read more

DGD the Elder had her birthday party here. She is very athletic, and this suited here perfectly. The staff was helpful and friendly. The kids had a blast. Remember to dress warmly. Love the buckets for the learners! They did not have those when I tried ... long ago. Large Party was scheduled just as we were supposed to finish, so we had to exit the ice 15 minutes early for the Zamboni to groom the ice. This group also made it very difficult to exit the room. Me and my son have been here a bunch of times before COVID.. very friendly and helpful employees.. Today (March 21,2021) we signed our son up for hockey camp, first time on the ice in a couple months cause other places closed down. My son is 5 years old and after we paid and everything, we get here and are told that we (parents) can't go inside. Basically drop your kids off at the door like it's school. I have seen kids come out of the building looking for their parents (while their schedule camp is going on) and also kids younger than 5 years old. An employee has to help locate the parents They should allow at least 1 parent/guardian just in cause something happens and/or if a child has a little melt down. read more

My daughter plays ice hockey here. We are there 3-4 times a week. Everyone is nice, the place is always clean. The joyful laughter, playful screaming, and the chilling temps remind me of my childhood activities having fun playing at an ice rink. Employees are not good, and place is not as well. They don't respond at all during business hours and after making 1 hr trip each way, only to learn after wasted trip public session is not available. The guy at the reception (sat 26th 1130am) does not even slightest concern about failure to pick up the phone, much less returning calls, wasted trip as a result. read more

Came to play Broom Ball for a work event. I was not involved in the reservation process so I cannot speak to that. Our team had a blast on the ice. I had never even heard of Broom Ball before. Definitely recommend for a team building activity or birthday. We had one of the two rinks to ourselves for about 2 hours. There were 18 of us. You're able to order beers on tap at any point - walking to the drink area. Since we wore regular sneakers this made it easy. Our event was during the week and it was not crowded. The rink next to us had some hockey players training. The facility is small so I can imagine it being very crowded on weekends. Clean bathrooms. read more

Came here today with my 2 young daughters age 7 and 10. The Yelp reviews guided my decision to try this place because my kids have never skated before and I'm not much better than them. It was everything I was hoping it would be. 2 rinks help keep the craziness to a minimum which i really appreciated as supervising my kids AND not falling on my #$$ was adding enough anxiety. Checking in was super easy, the gentleman behind the snack bar actually helped us get checked in AND helped us with our skates which was in a different part of the facility. Friendly and accommodating. Then we got our skates, and surprisingly they were in ridiculously nice condition. Mine looked like they had been worn maybe ONCE, the blades looked brand new. My kids' were also in nice condition. So kudos to Tri Valley for properly rotating and maintaining their skate inventory! We arrived at 2:50 for a 2:45 Public Skate Session and we're on the ice by 3pm which gave us an hour and 45 mins to skate. That was plenty of time for us beginners. They had large stackable orange buckets to use as balancing aids, we needed those. It was a Sunday and not super crowded so it was PERFECT for my kids. Another plus is they have a snack bar and sell adult beverages for those so inclined. Sports were on their 2 flat screens which I'm sure are also appreciated. No lockers but cubbies under benches are available for use. I think I read that in a review so I made sure to use my smaller bag that I could keep with me while skating. The vibe was positive and it felt like a safe environment for my kids. The ONLY negative was actually outside of the facility. When we were driving into the lot there were about 10 young kids that looked like they had just finished and they were playing BALL in the middle of the lot. They didn't seem too concerned about other cars needing to park so didn't really get out of the way when cars approached. Not sure if the adults present were their supervision but they also seemed pretty lackadaisical about parking lot safety. But not really a fault of the rink operators, just not a great first impression. I'm glad it was totally the opposite inside. We will definitely return. My younger daughter wants to have her birthday here. They have party packages as well! Our visit was $12.50 a person (kids and adults ) for rink entrance and skate rental. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The only thing this place has going for it is that the Fremont and San Jose ice rinks are too far for me. Don't get me wrong, some folks who work there are great but the place is poorly run. No organization, no communication about classes, no one picks up the phone. If you leave messages, good luck getting a call back (other than Coach Phil who is very responsive). After I enrolled my daughter in a learn to skate class, I got hung up on when I asked about class start date. When we went to buy skates, no one was at the pro shop when it was supposed to be open. This evening, I called to make sure it's open before trekking over (its website says it is open) and no one answered. The worst part? No one cares. I left a message for the General Manager but no response. It's a shame. Update: kudos to the nice gentleman at the pro shop for his knowledge and help in selecting skates. Like I said, some of the people at trivalley ice are great. The place is run incompetently. That's the problem. read more

Love this skating rink. I'm a huge believer in customer service and I feel as though tri valley ice does a great job with that. Last year I came here and we only had 30 minutes left and the staff gave us a deal so we could still have fun at the rink. This year the same thing happened with my cousins. They arrived with 15 min left until closing, and the staff gave them a deal as well. Overall, this rink is never too crowded (of the times I've been) and of course their customer service is great! read more

I really wanted to like this place but I am disappointed. Employees don't have a clue of anything if you ask them, instructors are rude and never smile even to their own students. So...honestly, after reading the reviews, I was super excited to bring my kids ice-skating here. But as soon as I walked in the door, I was full of disappointment. The place looks great from the outside, but is super run down in my opinion. On the upside, employees at the snack bar were extremely friendly/helpful, I'll give it that. But there is very limited seating, and what is there is totally falling apart. If I were the business owner, I would be embarrassed to have seating like this. My son and I went in today to look in the pro shop. Guys at the counter were standing around and chatting to each other. My son asked where the pro shop was and the three employees at registration all looked at him and acted like jerks, one said that the guy hadn't come in yet. My son, as curious and kind as he is, asked when he may be there. The same guy at registration replied saying he doesn't have a clue, in a rude manner. Bad employees at this establishment. The Tri Valley Ice team put together our end of season party for our hockey team and Boy did they make it AMAZING for us! We had a breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, waffles, donuts (a hockey staple) and more! They had a juice bar for the kids and a coffee bar for the adults. We had the best time and felt like it was a wonderful end to our season! If you have something in mind for your party that is not on the website-definitelygive them a call! They were so accommodating to our weird requests and made it a custom experience. We enjoyed the open ice for families and the coach vs kid scrimmages as well. Has 2 ice rinks. One for hockey and one for lessons. Compared to Dublin Ice Land, their ice skating lessons are relatively new. With the hockey players nearby, it can get a little noisy. Pricing is fair for kids lessons. Their selection of skates is limited and have seen kids go home since they didn't have their size. They have two very small ice rings. Keep in mind both ice rings are not open during the public sessions so it gets super crowded. The public skate sessions are ideal for kids since they allow all the kids to push around buckets (see picture). The venue was extremely hot, not cold like most iceskating venues. We went here on a Sunday , during their public skate session from 2-4:30pm for two adults and two children it was $48.00 for 2.5 hours. We got here at 1:40 pm to give ourselves an ample amount of time to start skating at 2pm. When we arrived the reception desk had a note saying go to the cafe to check in. We paid at the cafe. When we went to go get our skates the girl told us we had to wait because she had to help with a birthday party. By the time we got our skates and got to the ice ring it was after 2:20pm . This place is poorly managed when it comes to public sessions. All the buckets were on the other ring and none were on the ring that was open to the public. Finally an employee came and got us buckets for my nieces , we didn't start skating until about 230pm because of how the place is managed. It was a disaster, you had kids pushing buckets everywhere . Kids falling and tripping because of the buckets. It's a small ring itself . It was overcrowded with a TON of kids from 230 to about 3:15 ish when they had another party start. We enjoyed skating with my nieces for 30 mins when it got less crowded. If you have kids and they are learning how to skate then this is an ideal place because they have buckets for the kids to push. This really isn't place where adults can enjoy ice skating, it's really geared towards kids. I was not impressed nor would I go back here. Public Session started at 2 pm, they should have been well staffed, and ready to accommodate paying customers at 2pm. Clearly birthday parties are more important , I am sure they are generating more revenue from a birthday party than two adults / two kids who paid almost $50 bucks to skate. read more

I just moved up here and was looking to find a rink (or combination of rinks) where I could get lots of ice time, as I'm an avid hockey player. Tri Valley Ice has proven to be the PERFECT solution. The rink itself is small, as are the sheets of ice -- but for stick time / etc, it is beyond sufficient. I think the best aspect is how many different stick time (or "Pucks on a Pond", as they refer to it) sessions they offer; there's one practically every day, and the online schedule is super easy to access and constantly updated. No, the ice isn't the best, nor is the rink all that nice (I would refer to it as "quaint"). But for my purposes it's great. I visit here multiple times each week and will continue to do so as long as they continue to offer the awesome service they do. read more

I can't say enough about this rink. It has two sheets of ice which are both 3/4 size I believe. They have a small snack bar, skate rentals, and although they don't have a pro shop, they do have a couple necessities like laces and tape to keep the hockey players skating. The also do skate sharpening. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We found this rink when looking for a program for my daughter to play hockey. The Lady Blue Devils call this rink home and we couldn't be happier with the program. Awesome girls hockey from the barely skating to the high schooler. In theory, this place is a good idea but it is ran very poorly. The adult league is extremely unprofessional and have a hard time supplying referees (which a service they promise when paying the fee) and for half the games they do not even cut the ice. The director of the league is not very fair nor ethical, choosing to employ referees who play for teams in the league and then allowing to referee games for their team. When the league first began, it was a fun time, but the rise in prices and lack of fairness and promised services has me looking elsewhere to spend my ice time. Also, the ice is bad. There are many divots and major depressions along the boards that can be dangerous. On the plus side, there's alcohol if you are so inclined. read more

This place is not only run down, poorly managed and a safety hazard. 1. About three weeks ago a little girl ended up in the ER due to an instructor who was showing off his spinning skills in the middle of a free skate session with little children all around. The girl laid there in pool of blood from her cut, which was caused by the skate of the instructor. All of this happened in front of other children, who watched this horrific accident. This was totally fault of the instructor as the director herself admitted via email to the parents. This makes me wonder the safety training of instructors. 2. Two weeks in a row, I had to drive my child from Dublin to Livermore, only to not able to attend her class as there were not enough skates for her size. I keep hearing that they have ordered skates, but, yet to see them. 3.Some of the employees are simply rude and have no sense of customer service. 3. The facility is dark, dingy and in need of major fixing up. This facility should be closed down! read more

Absolutely love Tri Valley Ice!! My 9yr old (4th grade) son wasn't interested in any sports. I signed him up for a beginners ice hockey session with 6 lessons. They provided ALL gear with lessons which is really nice and it was brand new equipment (even a bag to carry it all in)! My son wasn't too thrilled that I signed him up without asking...but after first class he was thanking me. :-) He felt a little defeated after 2nd class because it is tough to pick up skating skills along with trying to handle stick/puck on top of wearing all that gear. But he stuck with it...The coaches are all awesome and make it fun for the kids!! Teaching skills along with playing games. I am so amazed at the progress he's made in just 6 weeks. He's even asking to go skate to practice outside practice!! Highly recommend if you are looking to get your child into skating/ice hockey that you come check out this place! read more

Pond hockey and fun on two rinks. There is always open ice for hockey and usually a few hours per day you can just go out and skate. I appreciate TVI, it brought hockey to the area and allows those of us who are playing competitively to train and hone our skills more frequently and less costly than all of the other local sheets of ice. One sheet is 126' x 50', the other is about 115' x 50' and are a great size for midgets, mites and children. We are fortunate to have this place, I encourage you to patronise it via skating or giving hockey a try as it is the coolest game on earth. read more

I recently started playing in a beginner/novice 3 on 3 adult hockey league. I'm having a blast and loving having ice in my home town. Everyone I've had the pleasure of meeting (with the exception of some blind refs) have been helpful and friendly. It seems like they're still trying to figure things out, but they're asking for feedback and making changes as they grow to accommodate the needs and desires of their patrons. This is by far the WORST ice skating rink i have ever visited. The place is run down, the bathrooms are disgusting, and the ice itself is terrible. The rinks are tiny and there are too many skaters. Place is awesome! Brought my two kids and we had a great time! It also didn't leave a hole in my wallet, very reasonable as far as cost.

My son and I both get our hockey instruction and team play here. Great people and no attitude
