He suggested we try youtube videos to make it work. YOUTUBE VIDEOS He charged full price. A few days later, and many attempts by many people, I called and asked if Mr. B would be willing to try programming it again, since we paid full price. He said no. I asked if he would be willing to make a new key. He said no. I went to another locksmith who said the key was done wrong, and would have to be redone from scratch. I went to a different locksmith who estimated cheaper, and they fixed the problem in under a minute. Mr. B used a remote for a Honda civic, when I had an accord. When the back of the remote was inspected, it was found to be a bootleg FC code. This is a SCAM. Dude is out here plugging temp remotes for civics in Honda accord fobs and charging full price. He knew exactly what he was doing, that's exactly why he refused to try again or replace. BEWARE

So, when I needed a locksmith to rekey and otherwise de-jank the portals to my mother's new home, I called Brian, the owner of Ace Hardware in Clifton (see my review on Yelp). "I don't have a locksmith on staff. Call Gary Leach; he does all of my work." Gary responded to my voicemail quickly, and made scheduling a breeze--"just call me when you have possession of the home." We called the day after the closing, and he arrived within a couple of hours. Gary immediately assessed that the janky front door had actually been kicked in and repaired with something akin to Lincoln logs at some point in the past. "I'll be back," he said, after taking some measurements. He returned in hour or so and Fort-Knoxed the door with custom metal plates. He otherwise installed deadbolt locks on all three exterior doors, worked out minor kinks in the existing hardware, and rekeyed all, including the storm doors, to one key. The bill was a bit higher than we expected, but is a fraction of the worth of the persons and possessions now secured. Thank you, Gary! P.S. The greeting I received was far from warm and the stare I got made me feel like my business was an inconvenience. The woman behind the counter informed me that they did not have a blank that they could use for me key. I definitely don't hold that against them - no other businesses in the area did either... that's not my issue. I would definitely love to come to a business like this rather than going to a big chain like Ace hardware, but honestly... the customer service was warm and friendly at Ace. Even when I said "thank you for your help" at the end, I was answered with a cold and short "yep." Maybe this was just an off-day, we all have those. It's wild to me that I am here writing a review about a bad experience from 10 months ago that I…read morethought was handled, but has actually come back to haunt me. In June of 2023 I called a contacted Acme through Yelp because I had filled out a "project" request. The request was to unlock a residential doorknob of a basement for a property that I managed. I spoke with Acme on the phone to set up a time for them to come out, at which time they gave me a quote for changing the lock. When the person arrived to change it (Mike), he was unable to get the lock opened and said it would have to be completely removed and replaced with a new lock (after, we were able to contact another locksmith who came out and successfully unlocked the doorknob). This was going to take the visit up to over $300 if they provided a lock. I consulted with the person I managed the property for and they wanted me to buy a lock instead of the using one Acme offered due to the price and inability to complete the job. When I informed Mike of this, he became very short and irritated, asking how long it was going to take, and was very inflexible. I once again consulted with the property manager, and due to the unprofessionalism of Mike, and how much the cost had gone up from the initial quote, he decided not to continue the service with Acme. The property owner contacted Acme, who were apologetic, stated we would not have to pay for the service, said they were "grateful" that I did not write a review of my experience. Now here we are, 10 months later and this week I receive a call from Acme. They said they were "clearing some files," found my invoice and were going to send it to me. This invoice was a $175 charge for a visit and labor fee. They also charge an additional 3% processing fee for payments after 10 days of the invoice. I was never informed of a trip fee that would be charged prior to the visit, or that it was expected to be cash on delivery of service. This is something I assumed would have been established when they gave me the quote. I can adamantly say I do not recommend Acme for locksmith services. The inflexibility of the person who came out to complete the work, the lack of transparency with the charges prior to the visit, and the fact that 10 months later they are now trying to charge me $175 speaks to the lack of integrity within the company.

They always call when the specialty part I ordered arrives. They have a parking lot adjacent to their building--a convenience for their customers. My only complaint? They should tow all of the knuckleheads that do not read their signs stating "Parking Klinge Lock & Safe Only"
