Not the cheapest nor the most expensive, but the only company to provide an in-home demo of the actual windows we were purchasing. With such a big home improvement project, you want to feel confident that you made the right choice. Shortly after signing the paperwork, they sent someone out to measure. Then we waited quite a while for the job to be scheduled. Unfortunately, installation occurred during a weeklong heat wave. Yet the guys rarely complained, and spent four full days installing our windows. If I have any complaints, it's about their after sale customer service. The day our installation wrapped up, I noticed a slash in one of the screens, and was assured they'd order a replacement and have it sent to us. Three months later we still had no screen, so my husband and I started calling. Every call was treated as a brand new sales call and no one seemed to know anything about our replacement screen. Finally, someone came out and made us a new screen onsite. However, he re-screened it too tightly, and the frame warped. More phone calls and more confusion on their part made us feel like we were in the twilight zone. Ultimately, we took the frame to their office and they fixed it there, which was an additional inconvenience. Other than these few snafus, we're happy with the work.

With that said, the rest of this review will be largely negative for a variety of reasons that I will describe below. Let's get the positives out of the way. The person who took the initial measurements of the property was personable and professional. In addition, as mentioned above, the actual outcome (a walkway) ended up being pretty nice. Now for the negatives, which make up the majority of my experience with this company. 1) scheduling: when I made the decision to go with them, I asked them when the work would be started. Their response - call us back in 3 weeks or so and we'll see if you're on the calendar yet... What good looks like to me is that they tell me a target, and then get in touch with me regularly as we get closer to the date. In addition, even though they eventually told me the date, they showed up unannounced two weeks early (no joke - they just showed up, assuming it was ok to get started...). To add to that, they didn't finish the first day, and said they'd be back the next day. Well, they didn't show up, so I had to call the office...again... They ended up coming the following day. 2) the job site: there are too many problems to list here, but I'll do my best. First, they dug up a bunch of dirt for the walkway, and they just threw it on the grass surrounding the area. So much that I had to replant grass seed in the area. Second, for a company with "garden" in their name, they sure do seem clueless in terms of how to work a garden. Specifically, they dug up parts of our garden, and, instead of putting it back, they just placed the dug-up plants on top of the dirt (vs. replanting them). In addition, they tossed a bunch of dirt on top of the newly mulched garden area... Third, when digging, they cut an exposed root to a tree in the yard. I guess we'll see in about 7-9 months if the tree survived... Finally, they went in my fenced-in back yard for some reason. Well, instead of closing the gate when they left, they left it wide open, which would be fine if I didn't have kids and several animals who roam the backyard... 3) communication: last but not least, their communication was quite subpar. Aside from the scheduling mishaps, they were unresponsive to email, and messed up my final invoice (added a line item for a $750 project they didn't do...). Overall, this was a poor experience. I would strongly recommend against anyone doing business with this company. Keep looking - you can thank me later.

It was still covered under the Husqvarna warranty, and when I left it with them, I explicitly agreed to pay for diagnostics if the repair wasn't covered. About a month later, they called to tell me the carburetor needed replacement and that they had already ordered the part from Husqvarna. They never mentioned that the repair wasn't covered under warranty. I was told the repair would be done within a couple of weeks, so naturally, I assumed it was covered since they proceeded with ordering the part without informing me otherwise. Two months passed without any updates, so I called to check the status. They claimed there was a delay in getting parts, so I waited. Finally, after nearly 6 months, they called to say my blower was ready for pickup. When I arrived, I was blindsided -- they told me the repair wasn't covered by the warranty, and I was expected to pay out of pocket. I spoke with the Sales and Repair Manager, Gene Conley, who insisted that I had authorized the repair, citing a note in their system. The only call I ever received, though, was to inform me the part had been ordered -- nothing about the warranty status or potential costs. To make matters worse, when I expressed my frustration, Gene's response was shockingly unprofessional. He told me he didn't care if I left a bad review because they have "thousands of customers." I hope this review serves as a warning to others. Communication and customer service matter, and unfortunately, Johnson's Hardware completely failed on both fronts. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere for your repairs.
