Months later, after the kitchen had already been demolished and the countertop had been measured, Atlantic reversed its position and said the agreed upon configuration could no longer be done. At that point, I was offered what Atlantic representedjas an 'essentially identical' replacement countertop-but at approximately 40% higher cost. I wasn't allowed to inspect the actual slab before committing, only a small sample and photo, and I was told I would face a 30% restocking fee if I rejected it after ordering. With the kitchen already torn apart, I had no practical choice but to move forward. Atlantic then promised the replacement would arrive in about two weeks. Instead, it was delayed by roughly another month due to what I was told was a "shipping issue", leaving my family without a usable kitchen even longer. When the countertop finally arrived, it was materially different from what I had originally selected and what I had been told I was purchasing. The appearance was nothing like the sample I relied on when agreeing to spend thousands of dollars more.

My mother has been a loyal customer of Stewart's Ace Hardware in Clinton for over 7 years. She…read morerecently purchased a $900 Weber natural gas grill (Spirit S-425), believing it was fully stainless steel like her previous Genesis model. There was no floor model to inspect, and she trusted the store's description and history. When the grill arrived, it had only stainless trim, no wheels, and was clearly not the heavy-duty model she expected. She declined delivery politely and even offered to pay the price difference or use gift cards to upgrade to the better model. They refused. Instead of working with her, they issued a refund--and then left her a voicemail telling her never to shop there again. Their own voicemail admitted it was a "snafu" and they "don't normally sell natural gas grills," but punished her for not accepting a downgrade. This wasn't about being difficult. It was about being fair. After over 7 years of loyalty, this was their response. If this is how they treat long-time customers, I encourage others to think twice before shopping here.
