The previous owner, Dave, retired in 2019 and Dan now runs the company. It's been a while since I had an A1 need but alas, we broke part of a kitchen window last week and couldn't close it. I had my wife email A1 and they got right back to her. They confirmed how dang old our windows were, looked for a part to fix it and set up an appointment with us a few days later to take a look. Fortunately, Dan did have a part and was able to fix the window in a jiffy. It did cost us for a "service call" but it was worth the $160. Nice guy, too. I will continue to use this company in the future. They've replaced over 30 windows for me, installed some old school screens on my porch and have replaced my back door. Great service, give them a shot.

As the reviews of A-1 on Yelp are all older, I wanted to add something current. We used A-1 to…read morereplace over 100 windows, as well as a couple of doors, starting in 2021. Daniel acquired the business from the previous owner around that time after working there as the lead installer (so consider that when reading some of the older reviews) and every experience we've had with Daniel, Don, and the rest of their team has been exceptional. They do great work, have given excellent advice, and have treated our house and windows as if they were working on their own homes. Their prices are competitive--but I appreciate the value--explaining the difference in glass size between a replacement and new window, ensuring proper flashing/insulation, working with me to address any unforeseen issues once the old windows are out, and taking into account my desire to replace exterior trim, all of which impact a project -- vs. just "selling the window that's on the truck". Let's face it, it's a lot less fun to buy windows than a new car or a TV -- but the windows look great, I'm no longer constantly addressing dry rot on 25-year-old windows and trim, and the team at A-1 has really been a partner along the way. Could not be happier with our local installer (and local windows -- shout out to Mercury Excellum, as well)...and highly recommend A-1.

Andersen Window PAIN…read more Imagine a 12" x 12" pane of glass being heated with a high-powered sun lamp on one side. On the same side, a thermometer gun points at the glass, showing the temperature rapidly increasing. Then, the thermometer is switched to the opposing side, showing a rapidly decreasing temperature. It would seem that the glass effectively blocks the heat? Such was the sales pitch by Renewal by Andersen. Convincing as it was, the thought of getting swindled by Renewal by Andersen in Cromwell was the furthest from my mind when we agreed to have our Bay window and the adjacent dining room window replaced by them, despite the $10K plus cost for both windows installations. Although the $10K price tag was prohibitive, the idea that it would generate savings over the years by decreasing our heating and air-conditioning expenses was appealing. And so, influenced by the persuasive demonstration their salespeople had earlier made, we proceeded. You get what you pay for. Isn't that how the adage goes? And yet we didn't get what we paid for. On the day of the appointed installation, the crew supervisor knocked on our door to inform us that a terrible mistake had been made: the delivered windows were the wrong dimensions and consequently would not fit, necessitating a new order to the factory that would delay the installation for a couple more weeks. Where the error occurred, in the measuring process or at the factory, they wouldn't say, except that back in Aug 3, 2017 at 12:36 PM, I received the email below, "Thank you so much for choosing Renewal by Andersen as your partner in this project of replacing your windows/doors. We are committed to doing an extraordinary job for you. This email is confirmation of your appointment with our construction manager SW CT- Dennis Edgeworth for a Pre Install Inspection of your windows on Tuesday, 8/8/2017 at 3:00 PM. We look forward to seeing you then". Best regards, Stephanie Secino Director of Operations Did Dennis Edgeworth, the construction manager incorrectly measured the windows? On the day of the second installation attempt, I observed the crew reusing the old insulation materials on the "new" bay window which made me wonder. IS the so-called "new" bay window they installed not really new but is a reject, which Andersen is trying to get rid of, stealthily? Later that same day, my wife and I were once again subjected to another disappointing incident when one of the crew members knocked on our door that early morning asking if he could use our bathroom explaining with a sense of urgency. We never anticipated that, but it led us to wonder if the company standards Andersen Windows purportedly embrace are mere marketing hypes comparable to a magician's 3 card trick? Unsure whether it would be best to question their slipshod methods then or there, I ultimately decided that a letter to the CEO of Renewal by Andersen's parent company, Jay Lund, would be a better approach. It, disappointingly, was not. When the Fall season arrived, it became obvious to us that both windows Andersen had replaced were not effectively blocking the outside temperature from radiating inside. Unlike the sales team's demonstration, which showed a window pane demonstrating great efficiency, the cold was pouring in. Could Renewal by Andersen be that crooked? Did Jay Lund, its CEO, have any idea about the crummy work and the crummy product he was peddling? A good reputation takes a lifetime to build but a second to destroy. Surely he must know that. Seeing their television commercial this past January prompted me to renew my effort for a redress. Since that time, I have met with their representative from their Cromwell office twice and in between have received text messages from their installation department pressing me to agree to a repair, repairing what exactly and how, they were unwilling to say, despite my repeated request (3 times). Having little to no confidence in the quality of their work, it doesn't make much sense to agree to a repair job, the function and usefulness of which, the company can't even explain. It would just mean more workmen in our house, doing their "best work" in our bathroom, while doing little to improve our very expensive inferior windows. We were fooled once, and we certainly won't be fooled again, which begs the question if we were the only ones victimized by Andersen Windows company? Oni Sioson East Haven, CT. 06512

Door was ordered June 26 and was told it would be installed within 90 days. on day 97 I called to be told and I said wife the answer was I don't know it just says we don't have it yet but the person stated they were unable to find out. I asked for a supervisor and I was told the supervisor will tell me exactly what she has just told me and they have failed to pick up the phone every single time I have called. The salesman has always reached out back to me but can only do so much. this company is unable to deliver the door the door and unable to install it and as of this point continues to provide indefinite information. Due to the deplorable customer service this entire company has provided in finding a resolution or even a proper appropriate justification for not having contacted me before I reached out to them then makes me weary of what to expect in the event of an issue with my door. I have clearly told customer service salesman corporate etc and that I do not wish to continue my relationship with this company and therefore requested the funds be returned to me immediately. I will update in further datails my continuos fiasco as it continues. They may have had good reviews before but apparently somebody has fallen off the wagon and the customer service and or product is absolutely disgusting! feel free if you have any questions But don't fall prey to the hype,!

This is how all my windows were measured. See pictures. There is at least a 3/8 - 1/2 inch gap on either side of all the windows, and some have a like gap at the top of the window. This is called An "acceptable gap", (acceptable to who I don't know) they fill it with spray in insulation and trim the window with wood trim on the inside and aluminum on the outside. The method of measuring they use is far from professional, or accurate. And the gaps in the windows are proof of that. and to reach a supervisor? You may as well want to talk to the king of England. Because of this "modern technology " in measuring windows, and the communication, I would NOT recommend Anderson Windows. They are also The most expensive replacement window on the market. So you would expect a little more professionalism, but no. We spent $55,000 on 30 windows and do not feel as if Anderson Windows are worth the money. In fact I truly regret going with them instead of a cheaper company. Installers were great but Anderson Windows? Not so much. Definitely not worth double the cost. So I called Anderson for the 4th time. On hold listening to the recording say "are sashes are smaller so the windows are bigger". Look at the basement windows. Those are big sashes and small windows, quite a bit smaller.

Very personable, respectful, worked efficiently, and explained how to take care of the glass so the film (I upgraded for a protective coating to help reduce water spots) would not be ruined.
