Their mobile app & website are constantly down. It seems to happen at least once a month. Today, I have been trying to simply get my account balance since 4 am. It is now 12:30 & their system is still down. I called their phone number to speak to a banker & they can't access it either. Also, it take up to 3 business days for a check you deposit through the mobile app to show up in your account so if you need money immediately you're forced to go to the bank to get it deposited. Of course they're only open a ridiculously short number of hours Monday through Friday so I have to miss class or my internship just to deposit a damn check. I hate them! read more

I managed to fix this by calling in and answering a bunch of security questions - but the fix only lasted about a day. It's doing it again, and of course it's a Sunday - so it'll be the voicemail again if I try to call in. My sister was visiting and said that she has the same problem; her online log in just stops working for no reason. She'd call it random, but it's too consistent. She says she was forced into a TriCounty account when her bank, Six Rivers/North Valley Bank, was bought out. I just want the management to know that we had a girly moment of comparing our grievances against TriCounty in a tone of, "Oh. My. GOD" in relation to how disappointing and frustrating our experience has been. The only plus has been that the girl I spoke with on the phone was very pleasant and funny. At least dealing with her was moment of stress relief. I only got to log in successfully with the new password once though. It no longer works, and I've gone through my security questions to change it again twice; it just doesn't process, or something. If you're ambitious enough to go on a conquest, acquiring other banks like North Valley and Bank of America, you might consider directing some of that ambition towards having the best online customer service experience in the area as well --- or at LEAST an interface that works consistently at all. read more

Used to be Bank of America but they screwed everyone and left Humboldt. Nothing has changed since Tri County has taken over still the same rude old tellers who couldn't count their fingers and get the same number twice. Keep away from Gloria and Sherri they are the worst of the worst. To be fair Rachel is a great employee it is just a shame all the other crappy employees drag her down. Long lines are standard here prepare to be in line at least 20+ minutes. Bank is full of homeless and crazy people cashing state checks so if you are a female do not go here alone it is not safe anymore. Half the time the ATM'S are broken and don't work. Trash all over the place and rude ass idiots smoking at the ATM'S. A few weeks ago the power was out in Chico that's like what over 200 miles away so none of the computers would work and they could not give out any money. My wife and I have banked here for years when it was BofA and they talked us into staying for the switch but enough is enough Coast Central credit Union here we come. read more

Worst bank in the county, avoid at all costs. They treated me like shit and closed all 4 of my accounts after being a customer for 20 years. Without even a phone call. Transition from BofA to tricounties was not smooth. My husbands debit card works sometimes, sometimes not... no rhyme or reason. The mobile app sucks! Worked for the first couple weeks and never again after that. I can only log in on a computer some of the time because the "system encountered a problem"... my very favorite, however, is when I got my yearly bonus from work the bank called my office to make sure it was real. They claimed it was "unusual"... how would they know? 1. I had the crap bank for a month. 2. It's a yearly thing! Only for the last 11 years. I tried with them, but they don't compare to BofA. man Am i Torn. Recently i Had a mix up with my direct deposit and The manager of the back Alec was So help ful and nice and fixed my Problem right away!! How ever the Branch in the shopping center by Winco Is awful! I am a single mother and i had multiple accounts there. I never banked on line so i was a regular for cashing and depositing in person! One day i went to get money in large bills to walk to winco to get a money order to pay my rent . Upon trying to get a money order Winco Clerk told me one of the Hundreds was Fake. I couldnt Believe it . There was a police officer already at winco for another insident (unrelated ) who took my information and the hundred and said he would be in contact. I walked back ti the bank and told them and they asked for the one hundred. When i told them the police man had taken it and tried reminding them that i always am here and they know me and i would lie about this the manager Chris told me she would look into possible reimbursement for me. I recieved a message from Chris about a week later who said unfortunitly it was like this, They couldnt reimburse me because its basically who ever is last with the bill is really the one who is stuck with it and she said there was no evidence i got it from the bank and she was sorry but thats just how it has to be. so Three stars for Alec, =] read more

Similarly to other reviews, my account was transferred from the BOA sell off. Immediately I knew it would be a very different experience with Tri counties. I was never able to activate my online banking account for the small business account I had there. Trying to deal with their customer service by phone was very frustrating and often not helpful. I had my card stolen, funds drained, then told my funds would not be re credited though it was clearly fraud. The local employees were as helpful and kind for the most part, but working with the bank itself was not pleasent. I no longer hold any accounts there and would not recommend them to a friend. read more

A REAL horror show that place is after all below they now deny me access to the account online for my complaints beautiful when they charge us 30$ to close account we put 5$ in because it looked overdrawn the week before the last straw when I cursed them for idiots (guess I hurt the idiot's feelings so they closed accounts and boy are they LUCKY the gov of Maine doesn't have accounts there)( add president of phillipines to list) because of the not big bank software problem the manager explained to me about the random balances... oh then a few days later they returned the service charge they REPEATEDLY charged me (after telling me it would never be charged again) for which is why we deposited to keep balance positive... so you close the account and overdraw it again and I doubt it legal this time ... wish me luck in prosecuting bank as I am contacting Federal Reserve Consumer Help department. Did the president and top officers get convicted of that whole sexual harassment thing? https://www.newsreview.com/chico/tri-counties-slapped-with-sexual-harassment/content?oid=29233 The manager told me the reason my account balance has 3 different numbers is they are not a big bank like Bank America like they replaced (against BOA customers will) they are a small bank and do not have the fancy software like the big banks however it does not seem they have the personal customer service level of a decent business either as when I lost atm card after making deposit of payroll check they wrote a check for me to sign so I would have money over the weekend because it would be close to a MONTH for a new atm card... perhaps when there was SOME problem w the deposit they could have called but no they just charged me 148$ for overdrafts and closed my account... the one I was so happy with as bank of america acct then i got screwed into having an account with these idiots IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY STAY AWAY!!!!! ps the top part about the second account (in my wife's name) that got closed cuz I complain they have no idea what they are doing and now even calls emails etc are hopeless because it me...AND NOW I found out they closed the account with bitll pay checks out *more returned check charges and if I wrote a check and was going to close the account I would be smart enough to make sure everything was cleared before I did the final close...that and after the precedent of all other payroll checks cashed and in not even trying to come to a settlement I see as an act of bad faith... I used to live in Los Angeles and worked for Bank of America. I moved to Humboldt county four years ago. When BofA closed I opted to keep Tri Counties for convenience. The worst mistake I made. I deposited my state check through the atm because I keep the same banking hours......They held it for three days because it was done through the atm! The same atm that BofA would make available the next day if you did it by eight pm. Then I had fraud through google on my check card. They came to the conclusion that they was valid charges, though I have never charged anything with google. They did not give me my money back and then closed my account due to 'undesirable activity' and said that they would mail the money left in my account back to me in five days. I have three kids home out of school for the summer....really? Who protects the customer? I thought that would be the banking institution.
