After spending three years in Grad School for two degrees, I decided they both needed a nice frame to preserve and display them. Knowing nothing about framing or the Modesto area I spent a lot of time on Google/Yelp reading reviews of large chain stores, I found Norm's Frame Shop on the list and the reviews raves about his extensive knowledge and attention to detail. On my first visit, Norm was extremely welcoming and not pretentious about his work- he explained to me what he thought I needed and how he would choose materials that would ensure the longevity of my documents. He was extremely communicative and found ways to work within my budget. Norm is such a great business man, who cares a lot about his work and about his customers. We never were able to finish my second diploma because time got away from me and I was moved to Memphis for work. Still, Norm shares notes with me to give to my next framer so they can complete the Job. I don't know if I'll find another framer as good as Norm, but I'm so happy I own one of his pieces. read more

Best experience hands down. I had a vintage piece fall off the wall and damage the frame. When I called, Norm took the time to ask many questions and had me send pictures. He ended up doing way more than I expected. He not only repaired the frame, but he also hand painted the frame and gold trim. He put new paper on the back and new hangars and wire. I brought in a rather rare photo of Ava Gardener from the 50's and Norm created something I will always cherish. I came in with an irreplaceable poster that happen water damaged. I didn't expect much could be done I thought I should try anyway. I came across some pretty good reviews for a hole-in-the-wall framing store (it's literally located within a larger flooring store) so I decided to give it a try. The old "quality or quantity" adage could not fit this business any better. Norman Ham (owner) has over 30+ years experience and I never would have imagined all that goes into a single framing job. And it's not just the physical work, he has an extremely keen artistic eye. With a majority of our conversations we saw eye-to-eye (no pun intended) with regards to color, composition and style. His years of experience can offer up suggestions or recommendations you would have thought of. There are A LOT of high end lithographs, prints & photos in his shop awaiting their frame. He takes immense pride in the work he does as he understands that every single person that walks into your home is going to see his work. You can go to a "big store" and pay less to frame a picture but all you have to do is simply pick up and hold one of Norm's framing jobs and you can immediately tell it is quality work. I brought in two original pieces to be framed and, when all was done, left the framery truly satisfied with the product and my overall experience. My sister bought this Korean wall art for my daughter's nursery. Unfortunately, my cat ruined the mat board while it was in storage. I took them to him to get glass that was shattered from the frames replaced. He did a very good job on fixing the glass and also repaired some chips on the wood frame. He picked up a rather large (10' x 8') piece of original art from our home and placed it on a hand made stretcher bar then hand painted it at his gallery to compensate for the artist's out of square painting. He was so patient with his communication and willingness to hold our hand and wade us through the process. Then he delivered it with special care right back to our house and helped us hang and center it on our big wall.
