Dr. Vidal, although extememly nice and caring, was concerned when she saw that asthma and diving do not play well and put the kibash on my lessons. I could tell that she wasn't happy about it, but since it didn't sit well with her, I repsected the fact that she didn't just roll over. A lawsuit probably factored into the whole thing, but I choose to ignore that. All in all, she was very nice. She saw I was upset and went out of her way to talk to a pulmonologist about her reccomenation and followed up with me quickly. Although I wasn't her biggest fan due to the no SCUBA diving rule, I will def use her for my PCP. Their office is right at the end of the 73 line out of Harvard.

Seven months later, I had the same symptoms and was told I now needed lab testing before treatment would even be considered. The "standard of care" seems to change depending on the day, which makes it very hard to trust the guidance you're getting. The overall experience feels slow, rigid, and impractical. Messaging takes 30-45 minutes per response, and conversations often get cut off at the end of the day, forcing simple issues to drag into the next day. What's most frustrating is being told to go to urgent care for issues that should reasonably be handled by a primary care provider. That defeats the entire purpose of having a PCP and often results in additional out-of-pocket costs. Even routine care felt limited. During a scheduled physical, I was told I couldn't discuss basic health concerns and had to book (and pay for) a separate visit as a physical was just to "cover the basics". Huh???? Not to mention the NP was cold and short throughout the entire interaction. Overall, this does not feel like accessible or effective primary care. It feels like a fragmented system that adds extra steps, delays, and costs for very basic issues. 0/10 would not recommend.

The other day, I had a question about over the counter medication, so I send an email to her and she called me back within 15 min or so after I send an email. It was actually Dr. Wagner who called me back instead of N.P. I thought that was very nice of her and I was glad with her quick response. I also just had my annual check up and she spend good 45min with me and all the exam was done very professionally. She asked many questions about my health. Beside, we also had few personal conversation here and there. I thought that was very nice too. If you are looking for a primary doctor who can be personal, she is the one!

However, she spent most of the session concerned with my BMI (mostly ignoring my poor mental health, the pandemic, and despite acknowledging my active lifestyle including lifting). She relies on outdated science, telling me to not eat eggs because of the cholesterol, even though that has been debunked for several years now. After body shaming me, she THEN asked if I had a history of eating disorders. If you're completely healthy she's probably fine, but overall it was the worst experience I've had at Harvard Vanguard. She is an older doctor, which unfortunately should have been the first sign despite the ethical obligation to remain updated on new science.

I have had 3 different, sub-par NPs for my last 3 physicals, and am off to see yet another new NP tomorrow. I have to book a year (or more) in advance to NOT get my own doctor. Forget about seeing my primary doctor or NP when I'm actually ill ...then I'm sent to urgent care. There is NO CONTINUITY OF CARE. Disgusting.
