It's convenient that when I was asked what my budget was, that was what turned out to be the exact cost of the service plus a $70 haircut. There were also comments made that if I were to have spent more money, there were better odds that I could've achieved the result I was desiring which I found disrespectful. The first image was my hair prior to my appointment. The second image was the inspiration. The rest are what remain after going in for 'touch up.' I think it is blatantly obvious what the issue is far from just a 'tone' discrepancy. The Salon refuses to refund me and it's easy to fathom that I would not be comfortable getting seen for the third time to fix what has been broken. Extremely discouraging when I value the integrity of my hair more than anything else and how multiple individuals are not willing to make it right. I will never recommend this Salon to anyone in this city. I hate when smart people pretend to not see the issue at hand.

Soothing feet soak, very soothing massage chair, and exceptionally pain-free nail trims and clean-up, heel calluses removal, and leg and foot massage with lotions. This spot is run by Tony and his wife, plus one or two extra workers if the shop is busy. Because of our test schedule, my friends and I were only able to do Monday afternoon (which is the day they are closed) BUT I gave Tony a call and he squeezed in our mani/pedis. YASHHH! Parking: a little tight lot shared with other businesses, there's a small street behind the shop and you might be able to park there too. Pricing: pretty affordable! They were offering us water/ soda/ coffee through out. I speak Vietnamese, so I usually watch out for nails salons who trash talk their customers. Even knowing this, I was scared to get my hair cut again. I have had many really terrible hair cuts, so coming here was a big deal. I had read about Spirals and Tanja online while at home in California. I was heading over to visit my best friend in Tucson, and she said she would come with me. I was not prepared at all for what a wonderful experience this would turn out to be!! Tanja was very calm and soothing, fully understanding what it is to have bad haircuts as a curly girl, being one herself. As she shampooed my hair, she gave me a neck massage which felt so relaxing, and extremely helpful. Then, she led me back to her chair, and we talked about what I wanted and hoped for in a good style. I told her I just wanted a simple, layered cut that would look graceful on a now 60 year old lady, that would be easy to take care of. I was nervous not to have any style photos to pick from, but she studied my face, etc, and seemed to intuitively know what I needed. The style is just perfect!! Not only that, and this is huge, I learned, gently, that I have been taking care of my hair all wrong....for decades!! No one had ever told me you don't comb curly hair while it is dry!!! She put 2 products in my hair: a leave-in moisturizer and a clear finishing gel. And then gave me further instructions to spritz my hair daily, in between shampoos or co-washes, then comb it through. This has been a huge change in my daily routine, it is quick, easy, and still looks marvelous after a month now!!I can easily find these 2 products online, and they are not expensive. I wish I could have Tanja cut my hair all the time, I have to hope I can find someone here to do it. I highly recommend Spirals and their very nice staff, and I will go there again next time I am in Tucson!!

I'm someone who isn't very good at visualizing or describing what she wants but definitely knows what she hates, which is terrible when you are getting your haircut. But if I bring in a bunch of screengrabs from Insta or Naturally Curly, I can run them by her and she'll be honest about whether she thinks a particular cut will look good on me--and, based on how much she knows about how much time (very little) I will spend styling it in the morning, whether it's worth doing. She's also amazing at mixing color, so you can be sure you'll get the exact same one every time. I've had some nail and skin treatments here as well, and I have nothing to complain about there, either. The staff are all friendly, and even if they are not the ones specifically doing your hair, they'll probably chat with you, give you product recommendations, and throw a compliment your way anyway. The only bad things about this place are a) it's maybe too popular, and that means noisy, so if you're someone who is prone to sensory overload, this is not your joint; and b) time is more of a relative concept than a hard and fast rule, so don't plan anything more complicated than a trim if you have somewhere to be that day. Otherwise, definitely show up. You won't regret it.

One of the things that drew me to them is that they were willing to use only products that contained plant ingredients. I'm unable to use products with synthetic chemicals because my body is very sensitive to them. Many skincare businesses have a problem with this because so many products that are out there are not actually clean and non-toxic. This was not a problem at Beauty Republic though. Not only did my skin feel fantastic post-facial, they sell products that I can buy to use at home, and there are so many options to choose from that meet my criteria of being clean and non-toxic! They make sure to provide you with instructions via text message the day of your appointment, which is very helpful. The studio is now officially a team of two, lead by founder Marissa Duarte and her sister in law Vanessa. The services no longer include nails services. Their focus is entirely on skincare. Vanessa does offer waxing and lash lift/tinting services though! So, if you are looking for a place that is entirely dedicated to facials of various kinds with a holistic approach, this is it! And it's LOVELY. The studio is cozy and super well appointed. I was super relaxed the entire time. I went in for a facial that included gua sha with Vanessa. Vanessa is incredibly sweet and fun to talk to before and after your session. She keeps the session chat free so that you can indulge in all the relaxation possible and I loved it! Another nice aspect to their business is that it is a gratuity free zone, meaning that the pricing on their website is what you pay for and that's it. So you can think of it as the gratuity is included. I've never experienced that before and I must say it's a really nice way to enjoy a treatment. After my facial, Vanessa was gracious with her time and gave me some tips on how to use my gua sha stone at home. Her energy is wonderful and both she and Marissa seem to be super dedicated to continuing their education and developing all the skills they need to be the best! I will definitely we returning again for another facial and plan on booking one for my husband as well.
