On a local recommendation, we went to 3-Kroneren which had been making for what is touted as "Bergen's best sausages" since 1946. We were not disappointed. There are a variety of sausages available from just a regular cheese sausage to the more adventurous Jagdwurst (Wild Game sausage). At 60 NOK (almost $9.25 Cdn) for 150 grams of meat, it's not a cheap hot dog but totally worth especially when you consider the cost of living here. We ended up getting the Lamb sausage, Smoked Bratwurst sausage, Frankfurter sausage, and Reindeer Meat sausage. All the sausages were delicious. The skin of the sausage was light and crispy and the inside of the sausage was soft and tender. None of the sausages tasted gamey I would describe the reindeer sausage as more like a regular sausage but with a stronger flavour profile. Likewise, the lamb sausage had a faint flavour of lamb but again, wasn't gamey in the least. We topped off each hotdog with lots of fried onion bits. Excellent street food in the Bryggen area. I would make it a stop if you're ever there. read more

As a sausage-maker/shop operator from Wisconsin, USA, I sought out as many pølser stands/shops/restaurants as I could during my 2-week vacation through Norway. I told this story to the attendant when ordering and he assured me that I "wouldn't find a better sausage in Norway than right here in Bergen." He was totally correct! I visited twice during my visit. The first time I tried the jumbo Reindeer sausage while I engulfed the jumbo Wild Game sausage the second trip. Each time I topped my selection with crispy onions, pølser mustard, and the ubiquitous "hot dog sauce" (remoulade?). [OVERALL] This hot dog stand is very close to city center and SUPER cheap relative to the ridiculous prices of Norway. I don't know the opening hours, but I came at around 6:30 PM, and it was still open. With every order you get, you're offered a free cup of lemonade; the lemonade is very sweet and fruity, so I can see why some people would or wouldn't like it. Anyway, it's a nice gesture. [FOOD] Reindeer Hotdog: Costs 70 NOK for a pretty big hotdog. I got it with mustard and fried onions, and it tasted really good. The meat itself didn't really taste different from other hot dogs I've had. The taste is a little more gamey, but it's nothing super exotic. Trekroneren is a very good sausage stand in Bergen. No dining in, just the stand. They serve a large variety of sausages in 3 different sizes, with a variety of toppings to boot. There was no line when I went (at around 8 PM on a weekday), which was a welcome surprise. I had the lamb and the reindeer. The lamb was good, but not great (a little dry). The reindeer was phenomenal, and came with lingonberry sauce that I didn't love, but my friend was a big fan of. This stand is also in a great location in Bergen. I love this place. If you're in Bergen and are vaguely interested in hot dog sausages at all, you MUST come here. It's simple, it's fast, it's cheap (ok, a little expensive if you think too hard about buying what is essentially a hot dog, so why put yourself through that misery?), and most importantly, it's TASTY. Like all the other reviews said, get the reindeer sausage with all of the toppings (two types of onions, lingonberry sauce) and eat the living daylights out of it. I am a huge fan of hot dogs in general (even the pretty nasty ones that you can get in the US), so these are well worth the extra $$ for me. A little stand in Bergen that was (to me) a bit overhyped. Not a bad sausage that's for sure, and definitely not a bad price. I had the reindeer sausage with the ligonberry sauce and fried onions. It's not too different from your typical pork sausage in terms of taste to be honest. But a large generous portion for a very good price. Nice and filling and no frills. Not a huge fan of hot dogs and the like to begin with. Might've been better if they toasted the bun or something a bit more -- but a fan nonetheless and something to try while in Norway because the country loves its sausage. read more

So many choices! They offer sausages from 4 different countries and all dolled up the way you like it. They are open late (till 4 am) which is great when most closes at 6 pm in Bergen.
