For novices, everyone here creates a welcoming environment with no aggressive upselling or scoffing. Every question is thoughtfully answered and they take their time. This is a humble bike shop in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma, packed full of some new and…read moremostly used parts with friendly, efficient staff. I recently bought a used bike with a flat rear tire, and brought it in to get repaired. 15 minutes later I had a new tube installed and he even cleaned off my chain for me. Flat fixes are free according to their website. Tire change was $10. They have new tubes for $8 and used ones for $2! I will be back for any other work on my bike! It rides great now thanks to Second Cycle. They also help the community by keeping their prices low and paying it forward. Awesome shop!

When checking out, we signed up for a membership. I didn't get a good look at the snowboards but I am looking for one to customize in pink with the word Hawaii at the bottom.

They start off with a half hour introduction that includes each of their backgrounds regarding kayaking experience and some of the knowledge they have gained that pertains to the kayaking tour. Then they give a brief lesson about the bioluminescent plankton, then the safety talk. By the end of the talk you can tell how much they all love what they do and how committed they are to making sure you are safe and that you have a wonderful experience. The kayaking was easy, nothing strenuous, making it easy to watch the bioluminescence. And the bioluminescence was absolutely magical! They look like fireflies in the water! You can light them up with your paddle or even your hands. If you stir the water and scoop it up you can even get some lit-up plankton in your hand.. I would highly recommend Olympic Outdoor Center for this tour and we plan on returning again!

Neither my dad or I had ever kayaked before and honestly we were terrible at it initially but one of the guides came over by us with words of encouragement and eventually we were able to pick it up and get into a rhythm. It ended up being quite a fun and memorable experience! The bioluminescent plankton was subtle but still quite magical looking and just being out on the water under the night sky was breathtakingly beautiful. My dad and I agreed that we would absolutely come back and do this again!
