Although I had a fantastic time, I was hesitant to give 5 stars because the staff were very friendly, however didn't make me feel particularly safe. I've spent some time as a hiking guide up in Denali Alaska, so I suppose I may be a bit biased, but when I choose to go out on a trip with a guide, it's because I would like for them to share expertise and keep me safe; both of which fell a bit short for me on this particular trip. I also recognize it was very early in the season, so some of the staff were training and brand new. However, the whole experience felt a bit unorganized, honestly, and like we were just being rushed in and out. Luckily I am a decently experienced kayaker and it's so hard to have a horrible time out on the water with gorgeous weather and good company!

We are very luck in the Seattle area to have NWOC! I just learned about a Meetup group that does a monthly paddle from NWOC combined with having Swedish pancakes at the nearby (about 4 blocks away) Swedish center. Apparently this happens the first Sunday of each month. Several of us from PTCC plan to try that out.

I think one extra tip that would be good to know is just pointers on how to find the entrance when we come back since we did get a bit lost, the lake is huge! There are also cubbies to store your personal belongings and changing rooms/restroom. Overall I would recommend and come back.

I had considerable difficulty understanding the teacher. More surprising, however, was my discovery of a YouTube video that clearly explained all the elements that apparently were covered in the class. That video took only 15 minutes.
