Hosted travel trip review: Just returned from a week in Montana with Gig Harbor and loved it! Initially I made contact with Gig Harbor thru a YouTube video they posted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkL0rKtKdkA There was space as a last minute booking for this trip. As it is a hosted trip to Craig, MT for fly fishing the Missouri river in the fall, I met Blake at the destination. Location: We met Blake at the house in a rural part of Montana - town of Craig (population 37). Note that this part of Montana does not have internet, cable TV, local TV, or cell phone service... It's a great way to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life here in Craig... Blake and Doug from the shop were the ambassadors & hosts at the beautiful Craig Trout House where a group stayed for the trip. Accommodations: The house is very large, clean and is fully equipped with all modern amenities. Just remember no internet and no cell phone service. The house did have satellite TV. All rooms are super modern and very new. 2 anglers per room, 2 rooms share one bathroom. Food and wine: Blake knows how to cook and whips up fantastic dishes for the entire group - breakfast, appetizers w/ wine & beer, and dinner every day! I don't know how he does it but he manages to fish all day, return to the house whip up a huge appetizer spread and then cooks a full dinner for all us! Wine and beer included which is awesome because there are no grocery stores in Craig. Blake also cooks a fresh hot breakfast every morning which is perfect when you have to face below freezing weather in the fall mornings. Guiding: Blake also sets us up with the guides provided by Headhunters Fly Shop which have been "filtered" for the best guides. He filters the guides after years of using Headhunters for their guides - a list of "approved" guides only get to guide us. Fishing: Awesome! Most fish I have ever fished in my lifetime! You can do any type of fly fishing: dry, nymph, streamer, swinging, trout spey.... I fished with a trout spey (2 hander) and loved how I caught lots of fish every day. The guides are super pros and will get you onto fish. My guide: Whitney Gould (IFFF THCI & Spey O Rama champion) was a perfect instructor and guide on the water. She taught me all the places I can return to walk and wade to catch monster fish. A big thank you to Blake, Doug, and shop team for hosting this trip and allowing anglers to enjoy the art of catching fish instead of worrying about the logistics. If you want to unplug and get away from the world for a while and enjoy fishing, try this group for a wonderful and memorable trip.

I decided to join the club to work on my skills regularly. There are a lot of reviews griping about strict rules and oversight. I find that bizarre. I want to use my deadly weapons in the safest and most responsible way possible, and having an acquaintance with the stupidity rampant in this world, I welcome strict rules in a dangerous atmosphere. I go to GHSC to keep my skills sharp and have fun, not to get shot by some yahoo. I have found the range officers to be consistently helpful and courteous. They have had to correct me a couple of times - once when I forgot the 5-round limit, and once when I placed my firearm in the wrong position to show all clear during a cease fire. They were polite both times. These people are volunteers who love the sport and want to keep everyone safe, and they deserve respect and cooperation. Bottom line: this club is outstanding, and I feel safe there. I would not hesitate to take a brand new shooter there (I have), or even a child. I hope to have enough free time to eventually volunteer as an RO myself.

Gig Harbor Sportsman's Club is a sad excuse of a sportsmen's club…read more First off, the day that you show up determines your experience. If you show up on a Wednesday, you will get a polite staff. They are knowledgeable, respectful and make the experience enjoyable. If you show up on a Friday it's an entirely different environment first. Let me say I've been in the 2 a community for 20+ years for law-enforcement, military, etc. I am also a firearms instructor and probably spent at least 10 years of my life as a firearms range safety. If you show up on Friday, you will be met with a group of three men that their whole job is to make sure that your time spent at Gig Harbor range is filled with anxiety, creating the most unpleasant feeling. They spent nearly every second staring at me with an angry, aggressive demeanor, perhaps trying to be intimidating. It was as if the employees sat there waiting for my friend and I to do something wrong. If you know anything about firearms, when people make mistakes, on the spot corrections need to be made for safety. I totally understand and respect that to the highest degree, and understand that even the most experienced people can still make mistakes. However, when range safeties decide to target one individual, giving no oversight to other individuals on the range, negligence has the potential to cause massive issues with safety. The entire time I was there, I guess the employees decided that I was the only one who needed any oversight, rather than any of the other people on the range. They spent the entire time staring me down, even though i was shooting groups at 100 meters. I felt totally disrespected and furthermore, I felt like I was not welcome at the Gig Harbor range. It's a beautiful range. It's well kept. I've spent a lot of time here since it's local. But if the people working there are rude, disrespectful, and try to intimidate customers, then people will stop showing up. I'm extremely disappointed with the experience today, and I will most likely not return to this range.

If Bass Pro Shops represents the worst possible gun store experience, MKR Tactical is the best. At…read moreBass Pro, you are literally just a number, there purely to be exploited in every imaginable way. I've had better customer service (and less waiting) at any given DMV. At MKR, however, it's like talking to a friend--or at least to people that treat you (even when you're ignorant and don't know everything about guns) with respect. If they carried the firearm I wanted, I would've bought it from them, not the bassholes at Bass Pro. But I wanted a budget firearm, and MKR carries only the best. When I went in yesterday, I needed help figuring out how to use a magazine loader. I literally just walked through their door with a box of my stuff, asking for help. Matthew not only demonstrated how to use the device using dummy rounds, he gave me invaluable advice about safety, gun cleaning tips, classes. Since I was not making a purchase that day, I wanted to tip him. Peoples' time, care and good advice are valuable and deserve recognition, particularly when folks go above and beyond. My tip was politely declined. Unlike Bass, where customers are nothing more than walking money bags, MKR treats people...well, like people. I believe that ignorance is not a crime, especially when you admit to it and actively seek to increase your knowledge base. That can't always be done on your own. Youtube videos and books, while helpful, cannot give you all that you need to know about guns. Yet, in some gun stores, the so-called gun experts can be extremely condescending towards anyone who doesn't know as much as they do. ...Or anyone they THINK doesn't know as much as they do. That's why I so appreciate the attitude of Matthew and everyone else at MKR Tactical. They aren't there to lord their knowledge over you, but to share it with you. It's the first place I felt safe enough to ask questions because I realized pretty quickly that they wouldn't humiliate me or treat me like an annoyance. That means EVERYTHING. Honestly, it's not that hard to treat people with basic respect, but it is hard to find places that do. Increasingly, I'm finding that you really need to go to a smaller mom n' pop, locally and independently owned business like MKR Tactical, if you want to be treated like a human being, and avoid corporate monstrosities like Big Five, Cabellas, Dick's or Bass Pro--all of whom seem to have their tentacles wrapped around every urban area. The great news is that there are still good alternatives. I'm grateful for MKR Tactical and I hope they thrive for many more years to come.

My boyfriend was able to score the Lorwyn commander decks for $80 which is a steal! The staff here seem very friendly and helpful. They always checked to see if any customers, including us, needed any help looking for anything. They also give kids a booster pack as one of their regulars will come in and buy a booster box for the staff members to hand out a Pokemon booster to any young child that walks in. They also told me that the store is dog friendly as long as they are well behaved and on a leash. The store seems to be divided for those looking for sports cards and memorabilia and the other section focusing on TCGs such as Pokemon, Lorcana, Magic, and more. They have great stock of sleeves, mats, and other TCG needs. Additionally, they have plenty of tables and chairs for their TCG events.
