If Bass Pro Shops represents the worst possible gun store experience, MKR Tactical is the best. At Bass Pro, you are literally just a number, there purely to be exploited in every imaginable way. I've had better customer service (and less waiting) at any given DMV. At MKR, however, it's like talking to a friend--or at least to people that treat you (even when you're ignorant and don't know everything about guns) with respect. If they carried the firearm I wanted, I would've bought it from them, not the bassholes at Bass Pro. But I wanted a budget firearm, and MKR carries only the best. When I went in yesterday, I needed help figuring out how to use a magazine loader. I literally just walked through their door with a box of my stuff, asking for help. Matthew not only demonstrated how to use the device using dummy rounds, he gave me invaluable advice about safety, gun cleaning tips, classes. Since I was not making a purchase that day, I wanted to tip him. Peoples' time, care and good advice are valuable and deserve recognition, particularly when folks go above and beyond. My tip was politely declined. Unlike Bass, where customers are nothing more than walking money bags, MKR treats people...well, like people. I believe that ignorance is not a crime, especially when you admit to it and actively seek to increase your knowledge base. That can't always be done on your own. Youtube videos and books, while helpful, cannot give you all that you need to know about guns. Yet, in some gun stores, the so-called gun experts can be extremely condescending towards anyone who doesn't know as much as they do. ...Or anyone they THINK doesn't know as much as they do. That's why I so appreciate the attitude of Matthew and everyone else at MKR Tactical. They aren't there to lord their knowledge over you, but to share it with you. It's the first place I felt safe enough to ask questions because I realized pretty quickly that they wouldn't humiliate me or treat me like an annoyance. That means EVERYTHING. Honestly, it's not that hard to treat people with basic respect, but it is hard to find places that do. Increasingly, I'm finding that you really need to go to a smaller mom n' pop, locally and independently owned business like MKR Tactical, if you want to be treated like a human being, and avoid corporate monstrosities like Big Five, Cabellas, Dick's or Bass Pro--all of whom seem to have their tentacles wrapped around every urban area. The great news is that there are still good alternatives. I'm grateful for MKR Tactical and I hope they thrive for many more years to come. read more

By far the "Best Experience" **Hands Down**purchasing my New FN Five-Seven Handgun. This is all I wanted for Christmas, and my wife called MKR and they found the exact gun I wanted. In fact they called my wife back 5 minutes later after she called and found it for her. Based on the number of five-star reviews I was surprised and disappointed by my experience. I had expected to pay a little more from a small dealer but wanted to keep my money in the local economy and, frankly, expected to receive more personalized attention. Unfortunately, in the 20 days the process took, I never felt valued or respected as a customer. To the contrary, it was almost as though I was considered an imposition or interruption during both personal contacts and one phone call that took place subsequent to money changing hands. Had it not been for their no refunds-no exchange policy, I would have rescinded my purchase the day I returned to the store to complete the background investigation paperwork. Note: Within minutes of posting this review I received a call from Mark, the owner, who was apparently not in the store during any of my dealings with his staff. I believe he was sincere in his concern to make things right. Obviously, it cannot change my experience, but has made me rethink taking my business elsewhere. As a woman I'm gonna say the shop left a little bit to be desired in the customer service department. But maybe it wasn't the fact that I was a woman maybe they just are generally unimpressed by their new customers? Over the course of a few visits, I bought what I needed, I really can't say that anything was above and beyond or made the place feel as if you're part of a community or needed to go back. As a veteran I stopped by because I wanted to support a veteran owned business. I did. Maybe this place is for male veterans. Conversely when looking for ammo I stopped by several Sporting goods locations after receiving almost no information on ammunition by this location (Such as when ammo would be due to their shelves again, or any tips on the subject) And although they didn't have the ammo either, they did have lots of customer service that at least made you feel like i was welcome. The owner "Mark" makes it a point to personally introduce himself to every new customer that walks into his shop. That shows a lot of integrity. It's a small shop with a good selection of tactical rifles, and pistols. I noticed mostly SIGs, Glocks, and some CZ's...If they don't have it, they'll get it for you! Each time I've been there I've noticed customers working in the shop area using MKR's tools and working on their own stuff. Very nice of them to allow people the use of their tools and expertise! Went into MKR tactical with my father yesterday. He was interested in purchasing a very compact pistol to carry. I failed to ask the name of the gentleman that helped us. He was a previous LEO (thank you for your service!) and was extremely knowledgeable, respectful, friendly and answered all our questions in an unhurried manner. There were 2 other staff working at the time and they were friendly and helpful as well. I had called the store before my visit and Mark, the owner, personally answered the phone even though it was early in the morning before they were open. I was impressed. I chose this business as it is veteran owned and was not disappointed. This is an all around 5 star gun shop and my dad will definitely be going back. I live too far to shop there unfortunately, but wanted to give a shout out to the wonderful staff there and give them a high five for the excellent service we received. I really wanted to support a local business - what I got was a nightmare. I purchased a scope and mount, but upon returning home I discovered that the mount would not work for my purposes after I fit it to my rifle. I called Mark that night to let him know, and he asked me to bring it in and said he'd take care of it - so far so good. I wasn't able to get back to the shop for another week due to my work schedule. When I did, I informed him that I'd like to return the scope also, as it didn't turn out to be what I was looking for - both were in new condition. He then informed me that he doesn't accept returns, but he'd be happy to exchange it - ok, not a problem, I'd likely upgrade. He took the items back and asked me to let him know what I wanted to exchange for so he could order it if not in stock. I called the next day and we discussed some options, we then agreed that I'd send him an e-mail with part numbers and he'd let me know the cost, then we'd proceed. Two days later I e-mailed him the part numbers, but he never responded. I called twice and left messages - nothing. A week after the first e-mail, I sent another - nothing. I went to the store during posted hours - it was closed. I followed up with an e-mail - no response. I went to store again during business hours - closed. I followed up with a phone call and left a voice message - no response. Finally, after three weeks, I received a voicemail from him asking me to call or e-mail him my phone number. I returned the call that day during business hours and left a message - again no response. Another week passed (four weeks total) and I sent a final e-mail demanding resolution. It read, in part: "At this point I am beyond frustrated with the lack of communication, service, and commitment to make good on your exchange policy (which was not made known prior to the sale) despite my efforts to do so over the past four weeks. I returned the items to you, they are in your possession. I am without [amount] and have nothing to show for it. I have spent several hours of my time going to your location of business, calling, and drafting correspondence to no effect. I have made more than a good-faith effort to resolve this issue within your conditions; failure to resolve this is no fault of my own. Consider the statements enclosed ... as part of this message, and in full force and effect. I no longer wish to do business with you and seek the return of my funds by any means." I never received a response. Resolution was finally achieved by contesting the charge through my credit card company. This review has been delayed to ensure he did not contest the charge back. Even though he is friendly, will greet you with a handshake, is a fellow veteran, has coffee, and good décor - the real proof of customer service is standing by your policies and making things right for your customer. Needless to say, I will never do business with Mark again, nor do I recommend him. read more

I`d rate a zero if it was an option. Mark Roy and crew took $740 in cash from me two months ago and have been silent since. Each time I try to contact and discern why my request is taking so long, I receive the same lip service I always do. I bought a brand new H&K VP9B November 8th, and they tried pinning their own ineptitude on the agency handling the request! For a shop as supposedly professional and well run, this isn`t the first horror story I`ve heard about this place. What about the time your employees failed to understand, multiple times, that the gun I was shipping was being sold directly to another FFL, not to an individual buying it through them? Or the time your Keystone Kop employees made sure to completely screw my friends paperwork on a suppressor? I thought if I bought from you I could keep Boerners from getting any money.
