Updating my review during my "summer of Old Town." This shop is situated right across from a row of auto dealerships. Parking a car at this shop gives one a view of rows of expensive new automobiles. As Old Town Goleta becomes more cycle friendly due to #projectconnect, I hope folks will use the Trek store to buy and service bicycles. Ignore the auto dealerships, I say, allow Johnny and the other fine mechanics to keep you rolling on two wheels. I'm heading over now to get a rain shell for an upcoming cycling tour. read more

I drove up from Los Angeles because this shop had the specific bike model in stock that I was looking for. I was really surprised by how friendly and thorough James was over the phone. I can't say enough about this company! Bob and his staff are 100% professionals. Every single time we call, they are so kind, patient with our questions, and informative of our options, whatever our needs may be. We have never had a bad experience with ANY of their staff and feel equally taken care of with each of them! We have had two separate purchases most recently, that prompted my review. The first, two weeks ago, I called ahead to check about availability for new spin shoes that would fit our new Peloton bike. They were so nice and found the perfect pair for me before I even had to come down to officially try them on! They are the best shoes and my husband is super jealous of me, as he got the Peloton shoes. Today, my kids needed new helmets. We were greeted by the owner, Bob, who took such care and time with us, he made us feel like family. He checked out the kids current helmets and showed us what things to know and look out for. Check out the manufacture date, look for any breaks or damage to the the helmet, and always replace after 5 years, no matter what. For us, it was time for two new helmets for our 9 and 10 year old! He took us inside, tried on some helmets, and didn't try and up-sell us on anything unnecessarily. He was direct, open, and honest about our needs and adjusted our kids helmets perfectly for us. Ask anyone in town where to buy or repair a bike and they'll send you to Bicycle Bob's. Note: Not to be confused with the other stores in town owned and named by a Bob (i.e. Bob's Vacuums or Furniture Outlet). I had moved to town from Seattle with a Citizen fold-up bike that I had not taken out or touched in years. I brought it in here and they completed a tune-up quickly in two days while going over what they completed. The tires were both fairly flat and required new tubes. I discovered on my Axcess card that I would receive a discount off my first purchase, any clothing item, and a BOGO tire tube. Hooray! I saved a few bucks by getting one tire tube complimentary. A few months later I was out riding the same bike and the handlebar came loose from headtube/frame. I once again brought my bike back in and Bob himself was there. Instead of making me leave the bike to be repaired, he went to get a wrench, screwed the connection on tighter and even filled up my tires for me all for FREE. After being told at the other local bike store that they don't work on E bikes ,even though I told him it wasn't a E bike problem it was a simple fender problem. He sent me down the road! It was my most recent visit that prompted me to let the Internet know how good their customer service continues to be. I came in to browse locks and ask about an accessory fitment issue I was having. Luis C ushered me through the easiest shopping experience with plenty of listening to me combined with sharing a wealth of knowledge delivered in a simple and concise way. Rip-off. Had a simple broke spoke so I thought I'd get it fixed. $35 and 3 days wait was a bit much but I bit the bullet and took their offer. Came back in 4 days later and they said they couldn't even find my bike... I saw it & pointed it out, and showed them the still broken spoke. Was told to come back the next day, whatever. Came back, & again pointed out the issue, then watched them fix the spoke in front of me as I was waiting. I took my bike and left (already paid days before) & when pulling my bike out of the car, I noticed now a new spoke had popped off the hub. Great, 5 days & $35 later, for nothing. Still couldn't use my bike. I went back in and showed this issue, and they told me because it wasn't the spoke the fixed that there was no way to help me. Straight to my face told me 'that wasn't us.' I mean, C'mon guys.. Absolute terrible customer service. Ended up spending $$ & countless driving miles back and forth, and back, and forth, and back again for nothing. Was offered no sort of compensation, and after I called to let them know that isn't the way to treat a customer, was told to come back in so they could make it right. Yeah, like that happened. VeloPro is less than a mile away, and they fixed my issue in the first 10 minutes of walking in the door. Their service was considerably cheaper, but they did it for me for free after I explained my week long headache with Bicycle Bobs. Pretty cool guys over there! They'll actually give you their time no matter how simple the issue it seems. read more

1st I called to ensure they had the product I was looking for. They ensured me they had 3 in property available. I drove over an hour to get there and when I arrived they said they did not have the bike on hand. So I came here, and let me tell you, these guys are absolutely amazing! They were so kind and they really paid attention to what was wrong with the bike. On June 9, 2017 at 10:45 am I rolled in with a huge nail in my back tire. It was day 6 of 7 days riding my bike from San Francisco to Los Angeles for my 10th AIDS Life Cycle bike ride. I told them what I was doing as I just got a flat on the main road, right outside their business. They immediately took me in and changed out both my tires. I bought 2 Gatorskin's for my Pinarello. During the ride we do have roadside service but I figured since I was literally right outside their front door that I'd much rather have them work on the bike so I don't skip any miles. I recently purchased a Trek gravel bike. Due to limited demand I had to go all the way to Ventura to find the right make/model/size. After suffering a few flats I decided to get tubeless tires from a shop near me in the SY Valley. Unfortunately, the front wheel wouldn't hold air due to a defect in the rim. When I called the Ventura Trek shop they mentioned that I could take the wheel into any Trek dealer for warranty work. As I was going to Santa Barbara that day I decided to bring the wheel into Bicycle Bobs. Matt took some pictures of the wheel and returned it to me so I could still ride. After only eight days I got a call that a new replacement wheel was ready to be picked up. Didn't expect this quick of a turn around.
