Never been in here before but I recently inherited a decent but not well taken care of e-mountain bike. I brought it in to these guys and boy they really made me feel at ease right away. I didn't know anything about e-bikes but they definitely do and the whole crew there took the time to check out my bike and give me a fair and detailed assessment of what needed replacing and what could be fixed or just simply adjusted. We are visiting the area for the weekend (we're from Orange County) and brought our own e-bikes with us. My BF had an issue with his bike and the mechanic helped us right away. I read through every Yelp and Google review on e-bikery prior to starting my own review. I first want to start off by stating the owner of this business, Fernando Tessari is not the problem. The service department is. My husband rides his e-bike to work every day (purchased 06/21) & often takes rides of 8-13 miles after work. He currently has 1300 miles on his bike. Earlier this week, he heard a strange noise coming from the brake area of his e-bike. He looked down and noticed a metal piece had become dislodged and was about to fall off. He stopped the bike, put the piece back on correctly, and continued riding home. Again, he heard the noise. This time he realized the piece had completely fallen off. He retraced his route but was unable to find it. He called e-bikery and made an appt for a service & to replace the missing piece. During the service, they noted he needed 2 new tires. He also brought in my e-bike, which was sitting for months because a piece had broken off. About 4.5 hours later, we finally got a call from e-bikery stating his bike was ready but there was a problem. The price Fernando had quoted for the tires was incorrect and they actually cost "a little more." As my husband was getting out of the truck, he told me, "i don't agree with this. They should've told me this BEFORE they put the tires on! I only agreed to $39.99 each!" A few moments later, my husband came striding out of the store and I heard him saying, "I'm telling you, there was a little metal clip between the brake pads and I saw it coming off!!" A big guy (probably 6'5 at least) was following him yelling, "There IS no extra part there! It's just the brake pads!!" Alex went to my window and said, "This guy keeps insisting there was no clip, but I know what I saw!!" I got out of the truck and heard the guy aggressively yell, "Are you a bike mechanic??!!" He then took a couple steps towards Alex in a menacing manner and Alex said,"I'd appreciate it if you kept your distance!" I then tried to explain to the guy the importance of customer service and remaining polite at all times. He repeated Alex didn't know what he was talking about, there was no clip that possibly could have fallen off, etc. He walked over to the bike, flipped on the display and said in a disdainful manner, "Look at this! You already put 1300 miles on this bike!" Alex responded, "What does mileage have to do with it?? I need you to put the missing clip back on!" The guy said sarcastically, "I tell you what. You go out and FIND the piece and then put it back on yourself!" I told Alex, "Just pay him and let's go. We'll deal with this later." The guy turned around and stormed back into the store. I told Alex, "Let's just wait till Fernando gets back and we can try to straighten this out." Alex said "Fernando won't be back till Tuesday! Moments later, the guy comes and stands at the door of the store and yells, "You need to pay now!!" I was sincerely appalled. Alex yelled, "I'm talking to my wife!! Don't you close at 5:00?" The guy yells back, "You need to pay NOW!!!" I said, "Isn't the other bike still in there? What does he think, that we're going to take off without paying and just leave the other bike here??" Alex went to go pay and get the other bike. Apparently when he went in, the guy said, "These are the brake pads. See?? There's no clip. I don't know what you saw, but it wasn't a part to your bike!!" He then violently threw the parts on the counter. Alex started to say something and the guy said, "i'm done with you. Just pay your bill and go!" Alex paid the bill (full disclosure: they only charged the price quoted by Fernando -$39.99/ea rather than the $79.99/ea price they said was the correct price) and then asked for the other bike. Then when he asked for the broken piece to it, they responded they didn't know where it was and "Fernando must have it." As Alex was inside, I got the idea of calling another e-bike shop and found one in San Luis Obispo. What do you know! The guy answering the phone stated he knew EXACTLY the piece I described to him. It was not a "clip" but rather a spring with a "folding cotter pin" inside. He said that it was dangerous to operate the bike without it. E-bikery may be a great place to rent or buy an e-bike but their repair/maintenance service is ABOMINABLE. Stay far away unless Fernando is overseeing. The majority of online reviews are from people renting or purchasing an e-bike. I saw 3 negative reviews specifically calling out the service department for rude, dismissive, or apathetic behavior. read more

I can't say enough positive things about E-Bikery and my experience buying my new E-bike yesterday. They were patient and helpful in introducing me to a bike that would be the best choice for me as my first e-bike. They adjusted everything even for my test ride on a different bike. and educated me on the bike, as well as riding in general. They truly wanted me and everyone that came into the store to be happy. They even had one of the employees bring the bike I wanted, back from the Earth Day celebration so I could have it right away. I give them a 5 Smile review!! That's a smile with teeth! read more

Full disclosure, this review is only based on a phone call and Yelp request sent. I inquired about assembling a new ebike. The person I called on the phone was very rude - Responses were short and unhelpful. Said they were booked out weeks and was put out to give me an actual date. The person who responded to my yep request was friendly, but was still quoting 4-5 weeks out. The fact that they are booked out for 3-5 weeks is crazy. They need to hire more staff and be more courteous to potential customers. Times are good now, but at some point you'll wish you hadn't run off new potential business. I'll need service and repairs for years and will definitely be looking for another shop. read more

Called them for a last minute rental for two bikes. They gave me directions to the rental facility. The employee behind the table wasnt the smartest or most customer service oriented person, but was more concerned that we would return the bikes before an early closing time Rented two bikes for $80 for two hours. One worked fine but the other had a dead battery just about 1/2 way thru the rental. Returned to have it fixed but he had closed the shop reporting he would return after lunch. By the time lunch was over and the shop reopened our rental time was up Reported the battery died and that we had tried to return to have it replaced "Im sorry, please return the helmets in the bin by the door". Was all he said Theres lots to choose from in this town. Choose elsewhere. read more

Seriously the nicest guys! I put my e-bike together myself (scary) and I took it in for a basic tune-up because I didn't trust myself putting the wheels on. They did an excellent job and even showed me how to use my bike after! Some of the tips I received didn't even come in my manual . E-bike shops have been popping up (and sometimes down) in town with significant frequency the past 5 or so years. We hope E-bikery becomes a long lasting fixture on State Street. After an afternoon of kayaking, my husband and I were unkempt and covered with brine (the Pacific's and our own) as we rode our (non-electric) bikes home. On a whim, we stopped into E-bikery to look at accessories - we ended up with 2 smart-looking durable Nantucket Bike Baskets. Fernando and Annie were so friendly and helpful - they installed the goods on the spot. We also browsed the e-bikes they had for purchase or rent. The rental rates seemed especially reasonable. I called this morning to get a price on replacement of break pads for my son's Super 73 and they quoted me no more than $30 with labor. so a few hours when my son went to pick up his bike they charged him $136.98. They didn't disclose how much it was going to cost to replace and adjust the from brakes and they did the work without asking if I wanted to move forward they said it was store policy to make sure the bike is safe to ride and that they had to fix it. I did not authorize the additional work I feel that they took advantage of a 13 year old. I called and spoke to a "manager" and he was rude and did not attempt to work something out with me. I was upset and frustrated with the whole situation. I will not be taking my bikes there in the future I gave it a 1 star because I couldn't give a no star rating. Horrible experience. read more

Bought 2 e bikes sales staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. However, I was told that I would get a free tuneup after riding the bikes for awhile. When I wen to schedule the "free" tune up I was told that only extends for 30 days . A time frame was never discussed during the purchase. We noticed this spot while eating a great lunch directly across from the location. The staff are very welcoming and informed us that they do rent bikes to tourist for use touring the area. The bikes are simple and the protective equip ment needed was included in the rental. These bikes made touring the area with family even more fun, and I would recommend them to anyone. read more

What a fun experience! My husband and I rented a pair of bikes this afternoon and we had an absolute blast! The bikes were powerful enough to take us up the steepest hills but also allowed peddling when we felt like using our own energy. Our 2 year old daughter rode on the back of my husbands bike and she was smiling ear to ear the entire ride. What a fun afternoon! The owners, Fernando and Analisa, were there and very helpful. They took the time to explain exactly how to ride the bikes-it was much easier than I anticipated. The shop has a great selection of accessories from helmets to baskets to bells. Our experience with E-Bikery was so awesome! The lady (we don't remember her name!) was so sweet and answered all our questions. The process to get a bike was quick and painless. You do have to put a $200 deposit down. She gave us a map of the city and told us some of the really beautiful places to go. It was so much fun! I love the bakery. I started using them before the pandemic and was scared they would close their doors due to lack of business. Boy was I wrong they are busier than ever. Still super nice people and they want service bikes they sell as well as other manufacturers. Many stores refuse to even service bikes they don't sell so this is refreshing. Great for sales but not so good when it comes to getting your bike serviced. Good luck getting an appointment. I like the Rook Surface 604 bikes bikes we bought but would not buy them again because it is such a hassle getting an appointment to service the vehicles. Don't have XL or S helmets. L was too small for me, even in the biggest adjustment. I have a 7 7/8 hat size. We waited almost an hour just to get service for our appointment because they were understaffed, and then had to cancel our reservation because they didn't have the right size helmets.
