I found a used bike I liked on the website, called this store to see if I could test ride before ordering, and was told to come right in! I was able to ride a path behind the shop to get a feel and the workers here were very helpful and offered honest advice. Once I had the bike and put it together, I rode over and got it checked out to make sure I put it together correctly and they immediately were able to help me true the wheels and changed out a squeaky brake pad for me - free of cost. I had a great experience with their service dept recently. I was in town riding and my chain broke. I stopped in to see if they could fix it up quickly so I could finish my ride. I can't say enough positive things about this place. I want to highlight their bike mechanic Anna, who was amazing. First, she helped us navigate a new valve for our tires, charged us nothing, then voluntarily fixed the brakes on my daughter's brakes. We ended up buying a bike pump and other stuff because if her generosity. We then brought my son's bike which had a chain issue and she fixed it in 5 minutes and didn't charge us. We didn't even own Trek bikes so I was just astounded by the generosity and kindness she displayed and the store has definitely earned my continued business going forward. read more

So I decided to buy a bike, much like everyone else, and discovered that there was little to no inventory out there. Thankfully, the bike I was looking for was in stock here, so I reserved it online and made the hour long Trek out to Madison to get it. I worked with Jo who was very helpful, especially as I was approaching this with little knowledge. I walked through everything I thought I needed, and he helped fill in the gaps, as well as provide some options that were at appropriate price points. While there are some great shops that are local to me, I'd definitely patronize Trek Madison West as well the next time I need to head out to Madison. read more

The store is nice, clean and spacious. Staff up front were very helpful. But the maintenance team didn't impress me, plus they didn't seem very knowledgable. You wouldou. I had to stand there looking stupid at the counter before one of the members would acknowledge that i was waiting to be helped. Once I explained what I was looking for...they were unsure what part i was talking about (yes-i even showed them the part I was looking for on another bike) and were unsure if they could order the part. You would think for as much as you pay for one of their bikes, the team would be jumping to help you. read more

Every time I go into this shop for maintenance on my bike I am blown away by the professionalism, helpfulness, and friendliness of the whole staff--especially the guys turning wrenches. Every. I recently was in search of a new bike and hit up Eric's Bike Shop and this Trek location. I don't know much about bikes, as I am new to the hobby, and I told the staff member (Blake) that I was interested in a bike for recreational rides as well as commuting to/from work. He gave me tons of background information, pros & cons about each bike, and recommendations without going over my head. He was very helpful. After sleeping on the decision, I decided to head back and test ride a few bikes and was again very satisfied with the customer service. I've written a review before for this store which I have always been happy with but this specific review is focused on a review of the bike fitting I received from Mike Wodyn. I purchased a used bike from another person that was a bit off on the sizing for me but close enough that I figured it would work if I invested in a professional fitting. I've been told by friends with my past bikes that I should go see Mike at Trek because he knows what he is doing. I finally decided for this new to me bike (a non-Trek bike) that I would make the investment. After scheduling a fitting I went in and Mike took his time to make adjustments, observations, and make further adjustments. I had two additional sessions with him since the first to add additional parts to my bike (the third was needed because I had ordered the wrong Giant stem myself online. I am happy to report that my bike that started out somewhat uncomfortable now appears to be perfectly fitted to me. I am no longer experiencing back pain or leg issues like I had after I made he bike purchase. Mike was patient and great to talk to while I waited. As others had told me he was very knowledgeable and able to explain several new things to me about the make-up of my bike. Others in the shop also worked with me while I was there to get my Garmin paired with my Power Meter pedals and my other gadgets. Thank you so much Mike for all of your work!! read more

I found a Trek bike online I wanted that was available in store only. This location was the only one within a 100 mile radius that had it available. I emailed them & inquired about the bike. They responded back that same night. They had it built and ready for pickup in the morning. Less than 24 hours from the time I sent the email! The store has a great COVID policy and take it seriously. They have 2 lines outside, one for service & one for sales. They only allow a few customers in the store at a time and social distancing is spaced out with floor markers. The staff was professional and helpful. Got to test out the bike before buying and they installed the water bottle cage for me. The whole process took less than 20 mins. Shoutout to Alessandro who helped me! The overall experience was worth the 2 hour drive. Highly recommend this store! read more

I am an avid cyclist, and while I've never bought a bike from here, I ended up having to bring my Speci Allez in on a Monday after a difficult and damp century as my regular bike shop closed up completely on Mondays and Tuesdays since COVID, and seemingly forever now. I was reluctant, as none of my bikes are Trek and it's a small place that I thought would be overly busy but Julius and another guy were really awesome and honest with me, actually showing me the parts they would use on my bike and explaining what kind of issues come up with the mileage I do. They finished my bike in only 2 days - I was so happy! I had to come back after another few days of hard riding (they said the parts would take some time to settle), and they fixed up the Speci right away. read more

I wonder sometimes how bike shops such as this stay in business in such a competitive market. I recently purchased a bike online with delivery through this store. We're not talking a $600 cruiser - this was an $8,000 Project One Emonda. After I placed the order I realized that I'd not specified the color of bar tape I wanted nor did I say what logo color I wanted on the wheels. I was going in to Madison anyway so I stopped in. The first sales person I talked to said "we're going to have to charge you to make any changes" at which point I was going to say "forget it, cancel the order" but I waited and talked to the manager. He checked online and it turned out the wheel logo was the color I wanted and he said "we never charge to change bar tape on a new bike". I asked them to set up the bike for tubeless. I normally do all my own bike work but thought it'd be easier if this one just came delivered the way I wanted it - big mistake. Went to pick up the bike. The sales guy took a while to find it but when he did he rolled it at me, said "here you go" and walked away. That's it. Offer to set it up? No. Adjust bars/saddle height? No. On an $8K plus bike. I'd have declined anyway but they at least should have asked since not everyone does their own bike work. Oh, and the tubeless leaked air in the rear tire from day one. And they charged me for bar tape. I read a review of Canyon bikes and there was a quote in there from someone at Trek that basically said "we're not worried, we focus on providing excellent customer service". I just bought my third bike from Trek Madison West and use them routinely for service, parts, accessories, and apparel. The counter staff are always knowledgeable and eager to help. The mechanics are brilliant. They patiently give me good advice not only on maintaining my bike but also on choosing my next bike and accessories. Sales people make the sale but the mechanics maintain customer loyalty. It helps Madison West that Trek makes good products. The first generation Domane was a great road bike. The new Domane SLR is superb. read more

To start- I live in Seattle, WA and my bike was in Madison, WI. My sister and I did research to find out how to ship my bike, and make it affordable. Trek made it happen!They took apart the bike for my sister, who was able to ship it from the store and it was delivered yesterday. I had no idea Trek would be able to get my bike to me, but they did. If there was an option to give them 10 stars, I would. Their service was impeccable. I now have my bike in Seattle, thanks to Trek! A grateful thank you from Seattle, WA!! read more

I came into the store at 7:45 knowing that I had an urge to buy a new bike for a ride I'm doing Sunday, but really thought I would just get some information on what would work best. The sales person Jeff Bopp was extremely helpful. I told him that I knew they were closing soon and I just wanted to gather information about what he would recommend to me. Not only did he engage in helping me, but he made me feel that I was worth staying a little longer for because he wanted to make sure that I would be comfortable with whatever bike I chose. Not only did Jeff stay to help me, but Brian, Carlos and Joel stayed as well. I worked with Jeff for over an hour and because of his expertise and assistance with fitting the bike to my needs, I was thrilled to make a purchase that I really didn't intend to make, lol. Brian (I think was the mechanic who helped me?) was absolutely wonderful, as well. He stayed and got the bike ready for me to purchase. He changed the pedals and added a few water bottle holders. He also took some time to give me a brief tutorial and advise me to take my time on Sunday for my first long distance ride and listen to my body and not push it too hard. Not once did any of the guys make me feel that they were inconvenienced by me and the fact that they were staying long after they were supposed to. They educated me, recommended products and tools that would help me and were very kind. I have more confidence in the bike I purchased compared to the one I currently had and much of that has to do with Jeff taking his time with me to talk through what worked and what didn't work with my new bike. I bought my first Trek at the bike o rama this year and because of the experience I had tonight, I'll never buy from any other store other than Trek again. I work in sales and pride myself with the customer service I offer, not only was this one of the best experiences I've had in many years, but I can't wait to recommend Trek Madison West to everyone I know. I was on the market for new mountain bike for several months and could not find what I wanted for the price I wanted. I found this store while searching for the Gary Fisher Paragon and saw that they not only had my size but also at a rock bottom price. I broke the pedal off of our stationary bike at home and had called another local bike repair place first and received poor customer service. When I called Trek, not only did they know the repair process I was asking about right away, but offered to help me figure out what size tools to order if I brought the pedal in. When I went in, rather than order a $40 set of tools, one of their staffers lent me theirs and kindly explained that the pedals on the bike were on the wrong sides. With this new info, I was able to get the pedals screwed into their right places without even using the tools. Furthermore, when I returned the tools, the repair folks remembered me and offered a further, low-cost fix if the pedals became wobbly. In short, they gave me a great deal of friendly/knowledgeable service, free advice and free tool loaning. The next time I ever need to purchase parts, I will definitely go to Trek on Mineral Point. read more

I survived a crash with minor damage to my Kuota K-factor this past Sunday. The rear derailleur, hanger, and the HG chain were not so lucky. Travis and Brice completed a interim field expedient repair with parts replacement and sent me on my way. Thanks again...5 gears proved to be better than none by a longshot. read more
