Trek Bicycle Columbia Maryland - New Bike day part #1 . Thanks Paalo, Antoine and Andrew - Bike Rentals Near Me - Columbia, Maryland

This is less about the staff, and more about price policies. I went there the day after Labor Day (they were closed for the holiday). No Labor Day deals. No senior discounts. No military discount, other than accessories (and you have to be active duty). If you are fine with paying full price, this is the place for you. As for me, I was ready to make a purchase, but ended up walking away...a small discount can make a big difference, especially in this economy. read more

Great staff, especially Paalo. Dealt with him twice in person and both times he went above and beyond to say the least. Even though my bikes were bought at another Trek store, they went on sale by hundreds 29 days after my purchase. Instead of having to drive back to another state to get the difference, Paalo looked into whether or not he could allow me to take care of this in his store to save me hours. He promptly called me back and allowed me to come to his store. He now has a completely satisfied customer for life. I will be getting another e bike soon and this is where I will be purchasing. Great job Trek Columbia!! A special thank you once again to Paalo. read more

Very detailed service . Harper asked incisive questions about my requirements for a new bike . Going back with my old Trek to compare to new one read more

Called to inquire if my bike could be worked on (an e-bike) to replace the front and rear tires and tubes. Went in to get service and then was told they could not work on any bike that wasn't sold by them. Then on the way out was told I'm not allowed to wear my shirt in their store again because it was "offensive" when it really isn't and just a joke. Suffice to say I'll no longer be going here and they LIE and to people then backtrack, poor customer service. read more

Needed a tube replaced on a jogging stroller and Harper took care of it under 30 minutes for me! thank you Trek and when we are ready for a bike we will be back!! read more

What a great bike shop! There's a nice selection of bikes here, Trek was their main line. It's large and spacious so if you wanted to test a bike fit it wouldn't be a problem. The bike wear was also good- bibs, jerseys, shorts, mountain and road shoes, helmets. The sock collection was awesome. It was busy and they practice social distancing, so we had to wait our turn to get inside. Bought a kids bike and cycling socks. They had a nice section of clearance mountain and road bike shoes, a bike trainer and a repair area. Awesome service and we will definitely be back! read more

I assembled my bike myself. Worked great. I just wanted a professional to look at it. Per the manufacturers recommendation, I took it to RacePace. Ever since, it has ran horribly. The chain just fell off the the track. I picked it up a few days ago and rode for the first time. I took it back to them after the back wheel was wobbling. I spent $225 for them to expertly look at my bike and it's a disaster. It originally looked great! Now, ugh! Called them and they aren't open. I guess I'll try again tomorrow. read more

I needed rear wheels for two older road bikes. They ordered them for me & told me how to get those old 9 & 10 speed cassettes to work on the 11 speed hubs. Very happy with the results. read more

Great local shop. Large selection and custom ordering if needed. Good customer service once you gain their attention. Bought a Checkpoint from them and very happy with my decision. read more

My husband is a happy camper after his experience at RP. He was in and out, with a brand new road bike. He doesn't remember the person's name who helped him but he did a great job at helping my husband, and bent over backward to make sure he found everything he was looking for (which he did!). The prices are to be expected for a bike shop in Columbia, but the service and quality of the inventory makes it all worth it. We will be returning soon for more cycle gear. read more

So Ive purchased cleats before. And they definitely never came packaged like this. Kind of confused by the stores decision to sell me these. At the time they pulled them from the back for me. I called up Shimano, and they also told me they don't come in a bag like my picture. I know Race Pace is normally a reputable shop, but I'm questioning the authenticity of these cleats as I've seen clones before read more

Very poor service. I waited for an hour without being helped. The gentleman working at the store was kind but they were severely understaffed. read more

Wa treated horribly by a female sales associate with shoulder length hair,!who was very condescending and rude to me. Manager was very pleasant and helpful. My uncle was buying a bike and we would have definitely walked out if the manager wasn't so nice. I will not ever deal with that female associate IF I EVER RETURN.!!!! read more

I purchased my bike elsewhere because I didn't know about Race Pace Columbia at the time. Disappointed with the service shop where I purchased my bike, I thought I would give Race Pace Columbia a try. It was the best decision ever! The difference is like like night and day. The service that I continue to receive each visit is nothing short of exceptional. I learn something new about general bike mechanics each visit as the service staff always thoroughly explain what's happening with my bike. I highly recommend Race Pace Columbia. They will continue to service my bikes for life, and I'll certainly make future new bike purchases with them as well. read more

I am active duty military training for the DoD warrior games. Cycling is one of the sports I am trying out for. This store made sure that I had the proper bike and gear to achieve training success. Petter (sales manager) made sure the impossible was achieved and found me the perfect bike. He went out of his way to make sure the bike made it to my hands. This bike shop is absolutely amazing. Don has the best bike studio I have ever seen and was amazing making sure that the bike was my proper size and adjusted things to make sure I was 100% comfortable. I will never go to another bike shop even though this is an hour from my house. The staff is friendly and I'm so excited to hit the road. First I bought my bike from there traded a mountain bike was sold a hybrid have always had it serviced there .Recently went in to have valve stems replaced where it would be easier to put air into tire, follow recommendation of their service tech, next day front tire was flat.called several times no answer. Got a survey filled out survey no one responded per survey I then sent email from the website. Finally I just went to bike shop in Glen Burnie, like night and day. Much more accommodating did a due diligence inspection found issues that should have been caught at Race Pace.Race Pace was more expensive and do less than desirable work.Bulldog Bike shop in Pasadena highly recommended more bang for your money. read more

Kudos to Travis and Jack for being very professional and friendly I had already been in state of frustration when I tried to take my bike to a shop that said over the phone that they could fix spin bikes, only to be faced with a rude repair person who is rudely was like NO without any customer service skill at all. Race Pace was the total opposite. Even though they automatic doors and parking is right in front of building, they kindly got my spin bike which is bulky into the shop even before I decided to let them do my repair. Unlike the shop I went to you can tell that Travis and Jack are real cycling enthusiasts, know the about local Columbia bike community, etc. by talking to them. read more

I have been going to Race Pace Bicycles since 2014. I purchased my Madone Project One from the Columbia store and service and attention I received was excellent. They took the time to understand my cycling needs and ensure the bicycle met my specifications. In 2017 I was hit by a motorist while they were driving and texting. Race Pace again went out of their way to assist me and get me back on the road. With today's online shopping, Race Pace has not forgotten the importance of the customer and caring for them. Since this time I have purchased two bicycles for my daughters and have introduced several of my friends to Race Pace. Thanks Race Pace for continuing to provide great products and great service. read more

This store has a very, very large selection of bikes for every kind of rider. The bikes are very high quality, colorful, and attractive as you would expect from the name brand Trek and also from the price points. Steve and Jason are great managers and they both go above and beyond to satisfy the customers from what I saw and experienced personally while visiting the store. Michael over in bike maintenance was fantastic in answering all my questions. The only bad thing about this store is the sale associate Gwen. She didn't seem to care or value me as a customer. I spent well over $2,000 and still was treated horribly by her. She was extremely rude, sarcastic, and horrible at customer service. She should be working in the stockroom instead of dealing with customers in person. Aside for that one bad apple, this store overall is great at what they do. read more

My husband and I went in looking for a mountain bike for him, and a good bike for me for the easier trails and for leisure. My husband knew he wanted a full suspension, but other than that, we weren't entirely sure what we were looking for as we hadn't ridden bikes in many years. Jill immediately greeted us at the door, and stayed with us, helping us shop for the next several hours! She was so knowledgeable and patient with us, even when our toddler started to fuss. When she wasn't sure on something, she made sure to get advice from her fellow employees. She also didn't make it a point to sell us their most expensive products, but rather exactly what we needed. We never once felt pressured to buy anything or spend more money than we were willing to. At the end of the day, we walked out extremely happy with exactly what we were looking for. This shop has earned our loyalty for the rest of our time living in the area. If you're looking for great customer service, and a wide range of products, bikes and services, this is your place. read more

Great place to get a Bike from and trade in as well. Brought 2 bikes from there and will definitely buy another.

I was interested in buying a bike today. I do realize that the Corona virus is rampant, but we had masks and they wouldn't let my girlfriend test ride a gravel bike. I was going to buy it today and they were like "buy it and we hope you like it. We are in shape and not just recreational beach cruisers. In my head I was like"Buddy you just lost a sale". I guess they don't need my business and it seemed arrogant. That's the problem w/ places like this... too many locations and unless your spending $ every year for a new bike they aren't interested in doing business. read more

Once again Race Pace strikes! My wife got a hybrid Cannondale which inspired me to look at Race Paces amazing selection of Hybrids and Cyclocross bikes. Thanks to Ben I was able to make an easy decision on a striking blue Cannondale hybrid which was the better choice for trips, errands fitness, fun etc etc. Bike is amazing. I'll be taking this everywhere including to work grocery store, beach trips, all trips etc. Steve on service always amazes me with his always helpful and efficient way of making the right decisions and expert repair knowledge. He recently repaired an issue with my Trek road bike and got me ready for a fun race. Again when my wife's bike was in for some accessories he got all done and even offered to pop some new cleats in my SIDI shoes. Thanks Steve and Ben!!! My recommendation to anyone who is shopping.... easy I drive from Frederick to this location and because I trust, have fun and love The Race Pace family! Mark helped me get fitted and order a new road bike for racing. He took his time answering my questions and was an excellent resource in purchasing my first bike. I highly recommend Race Pace and suggest you ask for Mark when you stop in. For reference, I visited four bike shops before settling on Race Pace and did so because it was the one place where I felt they were interested in helping a noice get introduced to cycling. read more

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm not an avid cyclist. In fact, I hadn't ridden a bike since middle school, which was more than a few years ago. As my son is learning to ride his first *real* bike, I wanted to be able to ride with him. That meant that I needed a bike. I was nervous and intimidated when I walked into Race Pace--the other customers were obvious enthusiasts. The sales staff was incredibly helpful and patient, talking me through the basics and offering suggestions. They didn't try to up-sell me or offer accessories that I didn't want or need, and more importantly, they didn't talk down to me. I got to test ride a few bikes and found one that worked for me in my price range. They installed a few accessories and offered tune-ups for the first year, along with classes. I rode out a happy customer. No doubt I'll be back. read more

Was immediately greeted as my family walked through the door. We were looking for a hand brake for my son's bike and they directed us to the repair area. The technician stopped what he was doing and quickly assessed what we needed. Came back with the parts and test fitted the part. Paid a fair price for the brake kit. Restores my faith in buying locally. Great job guys! read more

I went there to get my moms bike tuned up for Mother's Day. The worker at the repair shop talked me through what needs to be done, and we agreed upon a package deal that was $189. When I went to pick the bike up a week later, they changed the price. It was now $385. It's hardly legal to say it's one price, then when I pick it up it's a completely different one. read more

Excellent customer service. Employees are always friendly, patient, informative & ready to answer even our dumbest questions.

Great experience shopping for my bike. I received immediate service and was helped with my selection. I got to ride it for a test ride and was encouraged to take my time and get a good experience with rising it around the area. I also was able to look at various bikes and test rides those as well! It was great. I placed a deposit to hold my bike because I wasn't completely sure but I came back later that day and bought it! Great quality and great service! I will be back to purchase future bikes from Race Pace. read more

Huge thanks to Nick Richmond for helping our family get outfitted with bikes. So much patience and knowledge. From our 7 yo son's first "real" bike to my husband's first "real man's" bike. Nick answered so many questions and was so honest with us when we explained our individual needs. He wasn't just trying to make a sale. He let us know what we needed and what we didn't need too. We actually left a big box store with cheaper prices and went back to Race Pace to support local business and take advantage of their passion and expertise. We then found out that they match prices!!! read more

We went here to buy my daughter her first bike. The first salesman talked to us about the different bikes, adjusted the fit for her, etc. The first sales man almost had us sold and left us alone to talk over purchasing. However, a different salesman yelled about 15ft away for my daughter to get off the bike because "it's not meant for her weight". A salesman that literally came out of no where. Peace "Race Pace Bicycles", that salesman made you lose a sale and possibly future sales. We took our $300 for a new bike elsewhere and won't come back read more

I needed to purchase a bicycle light for off road use. The sales woman repeatedly argued with with, insisting that I needed to buy the more expensive combination light to be seen from the rear. For those who believe customer service is a thing of the past, you need to visit RacePace Bicycles. These folks are 100% awesome. My wife and I visited a Terra Trike dealer in Northern Virginia and didn't find the dealer was really interested in making a deal, so we left and searched the Internet. We found RacePace Bicycles in Columbia, Md and took the 2.5 hour drive to see them and were totally impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail. We purchased 2 trikes and are returning Saturday to purchase accessories. Everyone was great especially Kevin, Steve and Harper! There were others in the store that helped us with helmets (I forgot her name) and she was extremely knowledgable; even adjusted the helmet for me. Be good to yourself and do yourself a favor, go see these folks, you'll be glad you did. If they were a horrible company, I would blast them, but these folks rock! Don & Xuan read more

A shout-out to Gywnn for providing me with excellent customer service. Here's the story: my 16 month Bontrager MTN bike shoes had just suffered a failure through no fault of my own--the top clasp (plastic) had almost torn off its housing, and unfortunately the part was not replaceable. Bad design. This was after the replacement (by Race Pace) of the right side buckle after just three weeks owning the shoes. The left side buckle broke after about six months but the failure was not one that prevented me from using the shoes. Did I mention poor quality and design? Anyhooo, I brought the offending shoes in on a Sunday afternoon to see what could be done. Gwynn was super helpful, noting my issue in detail and letting me know she would call Trek Monday morning to see if they would cover the shoes or not (I was four months out of the one-year warranty, so I didn't hold my breath). Not sure of my fate, Gwynn directed me to some Scott shoes (similar price point to the original Bontragers) which I tried and ultimately purchased. Happy Camper, right? Well, Gwynn got word from Trek that I would be getting a new pair of Bomtrager shoes, the 2017 model! Outstanding. The shoes arrived at the Columbia store two days later and Gwynn called to let me know. i asked if shipping them to me would be possible to save me the 45 minute, one-way trip. She said she would check w/her manager. So what did I find two days later on my doorstep? A box from Race Pace Columbia containing my new shoes, shipped free of charge! Yes. Thank you very much Gwynn and thank you Race Pace for your excellent customer service. I will be back! read more
