On our first visit, I had the Belgian waffle with Chocolate Monkey toppings, my husband had the French toast with the same topping, and we both added bacon. Everything was delicious, and the staff were extraordinarily friendly, upbeat, and attentive. There was no wait when we arrived, but the restaurant filled up quickly. I also loved the atmosphere, especially all the fun quotes covering the walls. They gave us something entertaining to read while we waited for our food. The ordering process is unique: you grab a tray, choose your food and drinks, order at the cashier, seat yourself, and they bring your food to the table. We came back a second time, and I ordered the Gyro Omelette with hash browns, substituting French toast for the toast for a small upcharge. Sweet and savory all on one plate...and yes, I ate every bite! My husband couldn't resist ordering the French toast again. Definitely a must-visit for breakfast in the OBX, but be sure to get there before 8 am or the line will be out the door.

We didn't mind, but we definitely shuffled chairs to find a comfy high top since they vary. It was a windy morning, so it was hard to keep things from flying away! We ordered the South of the border omelette and western omelette, both with home fries. They both were so flavorful! The home fries had onions, bell peppers, and some seasoning. It was great! We also ordered half an order of French toast, but felt indifferent. The service was great and quick! We will return in future trips.

I thought the breakfast pricing was fair. Shrimp and grits for $12, etc. Especially for the portion sizes. Two things I didn't care for. -The ceilling tiles were crazy dirty and stained and the flor light bulbs were uncovered. -The shrimp and grits needs a re-do. It's huge, with a base of grits, ladels of bacon gravy, and about 5 shrimp and cheddar cheese. It's more like a shrimp, grits, gravy, cheese casserole. I would have much rather had a base of grits, the gravy scooped in the middle with shrimp stuck in it, and topped with cheese. Even with all that you'd think there would be flavor. It was kind of bland minus the occasionally greasy/burnt bacon piece. Also, the shrimp were flavorful but over-cooked and tail on, which is traditional--but in the casserole were a pain in the butt to get the tail off/cut. I know they can do good flavors and plates. My spouse's chicken biscut...omg the hand-breaded chicken was fantastic! My son's baked apples were to die for. You Philly visitors will be happy to see scrapples on the menu - yuck.
