I would have also liked to have rated this place higher but I can't in good faith do that. The resort is dated. The staff are all very nice but this is a resort standard. Nothing was exceptional or grand. It was all very overpriced for what you ended up with. My discounted rate should have been the normal rate. There is no way I would ever stay at this place at their listed normal rate. You'd have to be a fool. Honestly, You would be better off just renting a house for the price because the amenities are not worth it in this specific case. The food was mid but at arena prices. 20$ for a beer, 24$ for a burger, 4$ for an iced tea.. after the first day we just went into town for food. It ended up being much better economically and quality wise. The beach behind the resort is nothing remarkable. In fact it's sloped and awkwardly angled. The surrounding area itself is immaculate and lush with beauty and there are loads of things to do. It's definitely a family place and not an anything else kind of place so don't get any ideas. Kind of boring honestly, not really much going on. You really do have to make your own adventures. The complimentary bikes you can check out are all falling apart. The walls were so thin I could hear the conversations of the people in the room next to me. The power went out multiple times the day I was checking out which complicated things further including trying to get WiFi as well as the fact that they charged me for a latte that I never ordered and they had to remove it from my final bill. Good thing I checked. I am talking specifically about the resort and not the area itself. Parking was a free for all and there is no valet. If you leave your spot during the day good luck trying to get another one. If this place put some TLC into it they could turn it around very quickly.

A serene retreat at the Sanderling Resort inspired by the coast.

If you haven't seen, heard, or been to this place before, you're missing out. Treehouse Coffee is a must-visit for any coffee lover looking for a unique and serene experience in the heart of nature. Nestled in the beautiful natural setting of Duck, North Carolina, this hidden gem is worth every minute of the 30-minute drive from Nags Head. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with warm, friendly service that immediately made me feel at home. The young woman at the counter was incredibly helpful, patiently introducing me to the various coffee options available. Her knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience not just about grabbing a cup of coffee, but truly enjoying the process of selecting the perfect brew. I ended up asking the employee if they could make me their favorite drink, and she said, "Yes, of course I can!" The café's location is simply perfect--surrounded by lush greenery, it's a peaceful escape from the daily grind. The ambiance, paired with the delicious coffee, made the trip feel like a mini-retreat. Even though it took me about half an hour to get there, it was absolutely worth it. read more

Located in the heart of Duck, NC, Treehouse Cafe is the epitome of morning delights, albeit with a few quirks to navigate. While weekend mornings can see long lines snake out the door, and there may be a notable wait for your meal, trust me, it's a wait you won't regret. The coffee drinks stand out, not just for their quality but also for the delightful variety they present. A surprising highlight was chicken sausage, which tasted homemade and was the best I've ever had. But the star of the show is the Nashville hot chicken biscuit paired with pimento fondue. A word of caution for the faint-hearted: it packs a spicy punch! And speaking of biscuits, Treehouse serves them up huge and irresistibly fluffy. If you're in Duck and yearning for a breakfast experience that's a cut above the rest, Treehouse Cafe is the spot. Navigate the weekend rush, grab a biscuit, and prepare for a feast. Just remember to have a cold drink ready for that Nashville hot chicken! read more

Mixed feelings about this place. Their bacon egg and cheese sandwich is TO DIE FOR... it's worth going just for that. But there's always a wait, frequently up to an hour. And for a restaurant that doesn't even have formal seating, I find that hard to deal with. Coffee is mediocre but does the job. read more

It had zero flavor, no…read morelettuce or tomato, red onion was cooked with the meat (as opposed to yellow or white), and the meat itself added zero flavor to the sub. The best part of the sub was the roll, and it was just a standard sub roll. Luckily, the French fries were pretty good so I was able to eat part of my meal. Take it from someone who has worked in the food industry himself, you cannot just slap some meat, cheese, and onions on a roll and call it a cheese stake sub. The combination of ingredients only works if all them play their individual parts. The meat needs to have some char on it to bring out its flavor. The onions have to be caramelized so as to pop with sweetness whenever one is bitten into. The cheese needs accent the meat and onion, not mask it. There are supposed to be multiple layers in a submarine sandwich, not just one bland flavor. I would not recommend this place at all. You are better off going to Subway, at least it will not cost you almost twenty dollars for a flavorless sub.

Everything was delicious, and the staff were extraordinarily friendly, upbeat, and attentive. There was no wait when we arrived, but the restaurant filled up quickly. I also loved the atmosphere, especially all the fun quotes covering the walls. They gave us something entertaining to read while we waited for our food. The ordering process is unique: you grab a tray, choose your food and drinks, order at the cashier, seat yourself, and they bring your food to the table. We came back a second time, and I ordered the Gyro Omelette with hash browns, substituting French toast for the toast for a small upcharge. Sweet and savory all on one plate...and yes, I ate every bite! My husband couldn't resist ordering the French toast again.
