Great visit to Kaaterskill Falls on Wednesday, October 7, 2026…read more Decided to visit mid-week to avoid the crowds as it approached peak fall colors...I think October 7th was a bit too early...another week or so would have been better for colors. I have read that the Main Trailhead Lot (Laurel House Road), closest to the waterfall trails, fills up quickly during the fall. I arrived there at 8:30am and was the 9th car in the 40-50-capacity parking lot. When I left at 11:30am, the lot was full and staff was routing visiting from the main road (North Lake Road) to the Scutt Road parking lot...which is a bit further away from the falls. Once parked, the fall viewing platform was a short 0.1 mile walk. It offers some lovely views of the falls from higher up. From there, the walk to the lower falls was about 0.5 miles, but be advised that there are lots of steps (over 300) to get from the top of the falls to the bottom of the falls. You can walk even further from the base of the falls, along Spruce Creek, toward Route 23A and you will get to Bastion Falls. Since I arrived earlier, there were too many people on the trails...which made picture-taking a lot easier. I suspect the crowds increase as the area approached peak fall colors and on the weekends...so plan accordingly. The falls were great...I actually preferred the lower falls viewing area, for its consistent lighting and heavier waterfall flow. The upper was very high but the flow wasn't as heavy. The park is well-maintained with efficient trail marking and directional signage throughout. Free to park and enter the park/waterfall area. Port a potties in parking lot...are as clean as you can expect from a popular public parking port a potty.

Be prepared, the trail down to the falls is very long and while its quite easy going down ,getting…read moreback up is a definitely a treck. It's so worth it though. If however you decide not to go down to the bottom, there is a viewing platform . The waterfall pressure/flow can vary depending on when you visit. Heavy after rain or less during the summer months. Swimming is allowed in the basin , the water is cold . The fall and parking are free in designated parking lots. There was a porta potty in tje lot we parked in. Not sure if there's one in each parking lot though. Don't park anywhere along the roads as you will get ticketed and/or towed. Arrive early aa the parking lots fill up quickly, especially on weekends. Personally I wouldn't do this trail on a rainy day especially if you're a beginner. Lots of stepping stones that can be slippery when wet. Other than that it's one of the most beautiful trails I've been on.

If you're booking for a group with a minor, they prefer to have the waiver printed and signed before arrival. However we were able to fill out another copy of the waiver on their tablets to start our group appointment. The two hour block was the perfect amount of time. By the end we were so exhausted we couldn't keep going. It has been over 10 years since we last climbed at a different gym so it was really great to get back into top roping. The staff gave us a quick tutorial to show us how the equipment works and discussed safety. It was a great refresher and extremely helpful. They offer equipment rentals, including harnesses, chalk, and shoes, also snacks and drinks are available. This was a lot of fun and we'll be back soon.

The facility is spacious, had nice clean bathrooms/changing rooms, a hand washing station, and cubbies. The climbing walls start off "beginner" and get progressively harder. There are various options for booking parties, monthly memberships, or attending open climb. You can rent equipment (shoes, harnesses), and buy chalk. There were kids climbing from five/six years of age all the way to grandparents. We will definitely be back in the future!

Helpful…read moreand friendly staff who don't coddle you--they make sure you're up to speed on belay technique and everything safety-related. This keeps the gym feeling really safe and professional, which I enjoy. I also love the variety of yoga and fitness classes, plus the free weights in the gym. It's the perfect mix for me of climbing, yoga (which I used to HATE and now generally enjoy, thanks to CRG) and weightlifting. The training area upstairs is also great for climbing-specific training, with a variety of hangboards, a kilterboard, and more. I really like the vibes here, and the music is great 99% of the time. Great atmosphere and a nice sense of community fostered by the staff with lots of events like queer climbing night, women's climbing night, and more. Honestly, my favorite reason for living in this area. Highly recommend visiting!

We were here for a birthday party and instead of being fully staffed having enough staff there to teach and help all the kids climb they make each parent be with 1 kid...oops well I have two kids meaning that 1 of them couldn't participate. Absolutely absurd. 2. If you are FAT or TALL or your kid is FAT you will not fit in the small triangle that you must humiliating squeeze though to be able to do the "caving" I saw a grown woman crying because guess what ...if you don't fit your kids can't participate. You need to go with them. and for gooood reason....the caves are pure terror... 3. CAVE trauma ...Children including my own daughter got stuck and lost in the "caves" my 11yr old was banging on the wall for over 20mins until a random person found her, you can't hear her because it's loud in there. I saw another two kids terrified and hysterical looking though a small plastic window in the wall..they were stuck and NO staff helped a parent had to try to go in and find them but got lost. 4. The rock climbing itself was not fun at all the treks up are *VERY* short and most are super easy even for kids...ropes dangling all over, just awful. I've been to several climbing gyms and was a novice climber for fun in my younger years. I've never been to such a poorly organized kids party where adults and children alike were crying. If you are thin go alone and plan to avoid the caves you might like it there. Otherwise avoid. See the triangle that all adults and all children must fit though for your kids to even go to the birthday party if that alone is not awful enough if you don't fit or happen to be claustrophobic there is no staff there that can go on with the kids. Dirty and it's clear that the mats, walls and definitely the "caves" do not get cleaned. Avoid at all costs.

This is a great climbing gym!…read more I've been here a few times with my brother. I'm an intermediate climber and he's a beginner. The routes are accurately graded, challenging, and use a variety of holds on each grade. There's a variety of climbs at each grade so you never run out of climbs to try. There's also a small fitness section including an assault bike, rower, and some free weights. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable as well. This is a good option for beginners and if you just want to start climbing and not worry about learning belaying. Anna was so supportive and helpful. The staff member helping you really does make or break the experience. We were given the harness to step into as well as shoes that should fit snugly. Then we started at the beginner wall to get our feet wet. We moved on to a few other walls, one with an automatic belay. The climbs are marked by difficulty level so a 5.8 is harder than a 5.5, for example, based on ease, size of the holds. You follow the color of your climb basically. We all got a good workout. An hour is good because you need to rest in between climbs usually. Perhaps the instruction option for 5 people would give you more techniques but this was fine for us. The space isn't that big but we didn't feel cramped. However if it was crowded you probably would have to wait. But no problems today on a Sunday at 11:30 am. If you have workout gloves they'd probably help with callouses on the hands. We didn't try the regular free climbs. There's cubbies to put your shoes and bags and lockers in the bathroom if you have a lock. I wouldn't want to bring anything valuable in there because there's a lot going on and someone intent on mischief could have a field day... hopefully not though! They seem to offer membership options and events. No issues parking. I would come back!
