The park is named after the Tamiami Trail, a historic road completed in 1928 that linked Florida's east and west coasts through the Everglades and Big Cypress Preserve. Tamiami Trail Park is often confused with the much larger 247 acre Tamiami Park located nearby. Although this park is much smaller, it is still a pleasant destination for an afternoon outing. In addition to the walking trail, which I enjoyed, there is a large open field for recreation and play. The park also features a covered red-and-white playground with climbing equipment, including wheelchair accessible and adaptive swings. The trees throughout the park are lovely and provide plenty of welcome shade. I especially enjoyed the blooming Royal Poinciana trees, which added vibrant color to the park. A sign in the park indicated that a dog park is scheduled to open in December of this year. This new amenity will be a wonderful addition for residents and dog owners in the community.

I did find a small sign on some foliage near the front gate that had a small white sign that showed this area was dedicated as a dog park on March 14, 2020, by NBV mayor and his team. The gate has a chain across it to block entrance and says Authorized Personnel Only. So, I am confused about whether the public could use this park yet or not. It looks like there are two separate areas for your dog - one for smaller breeds and another for larger breeds. The weight limit for small is under 30 lbs, and for large, they have to be over 30 lbs. I hope NBV enhances this dog park soon. It is a very good location, and you can see the NBV Welcome mural. The parking area has orange cones in each spot so that you can not park there. So, at this point, I am confused about using this park.

This park is named in honor of Dr. Arthur E. Woodward (1928-2014). He was the former principal of Miami-Douglas MacArthur High School where he served as an educator, coach, and civic activist. He lived in the Twin Lakes community, across the street from where this park now resides. Long before the park was here he used to cut the grass so the neighborhood could use it for recreation. On November 17, 2022, the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the four acre, lake front Alfred Woodard Park. This park is "part of the implementation of the Parks and Open Space Masterplan: a community-inspired vision to build a more equitable and sustainable community through parks, for this and future generations." Park amenities include outdoor fitness equipment, an elevated area for community events, picnic pavilions, with tables and grills, ten stone park benches, and a paved walkway for exercise. I really loved the walkway which runs alongside the lake. It was the perfect place to get steps in while waiting for the traffic to clear up. By the time I left the park, it was a straight shot home.

Granada Park is a tiny sliver of land along Granada Blvd. It seems to exist solely to showcase a…read moreunique piece of art gifted to Coral Gables from it's sister city, Granada, located in the community of Andalusia Spain. The art piece was donated by Jose Torres Hurtado, the mayor of Granada. It was created by Tino Marmoles, a marble producing company from Spain. Coral Gables became the sister city to Grenada in 1989. Granada is Spanish for pomegranate which is the subject of the white marble art piece. Pomegranates are called the crown royal of all fruit because when they are upright they have a calyx that resembles a crown. The fruit symbolizes fruitfulness, abundance, fertility, ambition, prosperity, and has been considered a symbol of good luck since ancient times. The sculpture was installed piece by piece like a jigsaw puzzle by the Public Works Department. Ice was inserted between the pieces and as the ice melted it lined up the pieces. The pomegranate is a symbol of the friendship that exists between the two cities. The art work was dedicated in February of 2008. The park also contains a paved walkway and antique cobblestones donated by Emma Dolores and Sara Marlee Broad.
