McMillian Park is a neighborhood park in West Kendall. The park is located next door to McMillian Middle School which opened in 1976. McMillian Middle School is highly regarded for its two internationally recognized magnet programs, the Cambridge Robotics Magnet and the Cambridge Medical Magnet for grades six through eight.
Both McMillian Park and McMillian Middle School were named in honor of Howard D. McMillan (1919-1975) who began teaching at Shenandoah Elementary school in 1955. Through a series of promotions he became the associate superintendent of the Dade County Public Board of Instruction in 1971. He is best remembered for helping to integrate the Miami Dade School system in the late 1960's during desegregation.
McMillian Park amenities include a baseball field, club house, covered playground, lighted soccer field. The park is used by youth baseball, football, and soccer leagues.
