Many parks in Miami were created out of reclaimed land which is one of the most cost effective ways to create new parks. Prime land is turned into developments while dirty land that was a trash dump or an incinerator site years ago gets cleaned up and repurposed as a park as is the case with Westwind Lakes Park. When Westwind Lakes Park was built the county discovered methane leaking from the ground caused by buried organic waste. A venting system was installed to make the land safe for a park. Today Westwinds Lake Park is a popular recreational destination for families with children. The park features a splash pad and large covered playground for outdoor fun. The park also has a skate park with two six foot quarter pipes, rails, launch and bank ramps, a wall ride, stairs and different sized hubbas, a ledge that angles down a set of stairs. A memorial to Columbia is also in Westwinds Lake Park. Kendall sometimes called Little Colombia, has a strong Colombian influence in its population, restaurants, and culture. The memorial highlights Kendall's deep-rooted connection to their Colombian heritage. Other park amenities include picnic pavilions with tables, outdoor fitness equipment, a paved walking course, sand volleyball court, and a recreation center that offers an afterschool program, school break camps for kids, active older adult, and fitness programs. Whether you're looking for a picnic, workout, or a family-friendly outing, this park provides something for everyone. The well-maintained facilities make Westwind Lakes Park a welcome destination for locals and visitors alike. read more

Really nice splash pad, calm nice area, clean and everything is working. Ice cream truck comes at least once a day

My kids love going to this park for the Skate Park. You can take your skates, skateboard, shooters, and bikes here. The play ground has been under constructions and in the summers their splash of is open. There is also a lot of party space here. Cool park. Annie cream truck passes by periodically too. read more

This park has a wonderful big playground for kids. It also has two soccer fields. It also has some great shelters with ample grass space so you can throw parties or gatherings. We went to a birthday party there and they hosted with a bounce house. The kids had so much fun and there was so much space to run around and enjoy ourselves. read more

Very nice and clean park. I don't know why when you google the park it says no parking , but there are plenty of parking. Parking spaces are spacious, which is good if you have a big car and getting kids out of the car. Main Negative is for the slides and swings to have more shade. I don't understand why don't all the parks in Miami have shade?!?! It should be a requirement for the parks to have cover. I love that they have a splash pad that only opens in the summer. I've never been to it, but I'll sure will taking my kids to check out this Summer. read more

Westwind Lakes is a great all around park in the West Kendall area. It has soccer fields, two separate aged based playground areas, a seasonal small water area, several picnic spots and a skate park as well. It's usually pretty busy, but large enough to accommodate the amount of kids that flock to it. The park is well maintained and also has a few shelters that can be rented out for parties. The walking paths are also lined with exercise stations, giving adults some activities to do as well. Overall, a fantastic and well managed park. read more

Celebramos la reunión de graduados. El personal fue muy amable. Continuaremos con estas actividades. Solo nos gustaría que para estas actividades que hacemos los de la tercera edad no fuera tan costosas ya que dependemos del retiro. read more

One of our favorite parks to visit. We love the playground, soccer field, picnic tables, nice trees and the walkway around the whole park is perfect to ride bikes, skating and jogging. They now have a place to skate board and skate and ride bikes too. My son loves coming here. We really enjoy our time here. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Came here today with my toddler son to find the splash pad closed and gate locked. No sign on the gate to tell you why it was closed. I had to go to the office for them to tell me it was only open seasonally. Seasonally in a place that is 90 degrees year round!? Just a coverup for the fact that they don't want to pay for the water to be on year round. But funny how we pay taxes that fund this park year round. There is no mention of this very pertinent information on their website and as stated above, not even a sign on the gate so you have NO way of knowing. It is hard enough to get a toddler ready and out of the house and then to have to deal with their disappointment and meltdown when they realize the park is closed is something no parent should have to deal with! Why is common courtesy and basic work ethic dead in Miami? It costs nothing to simply note this on their website but whatever park employee that was in charge of this simply could not be bothered. read more

Pretty nice park. It's clean. The playscape is well kept. Playground has some canopies over them The splash pad is clean. There's about 10 benches around the splash pad to sit down. The only downfall is that it seems like the splash pad hasn't gotten as much love as the playscape. There's one part of the pad that's not working and every spray and splash is needed in this hot weather. But what is pretty awesome is the sunblock they provide in case you forgot yours. Is it quality? Not sure but it's better than nothing. There's a part in the center of the pad that's about 6 inches deep which is sort of another small added bonus and adds for some fun. Around the playground and splash pad there's a skate park that is well kept and several soccer fields and Gazebos for shade and birthday parties. There's a office for the park that has bathrooms but not sure of the hours of operation. read more

This park is huge and busy! My friend threw her toddler a birthday party here. There were a couple of other kid birthday parties around, but there was still enough room for us all. Lots of stuff to do as well. There's a skate park area, a splash zone (I think it is only available in the summer), a playground, pathways for kids to roller blade... just about everything! Kept the kids busy! read more

Very clean and an amazing place for families. This park is at the corner of my house and I have always loved it.

This park would be awesome at the butt crack of dawn, definitely not on a Saturday afternoon on a cool day. We went on the latter and found ourselves lost in a sea of unsupervised, unruly children on major sugar highs or off of their ADHD meds. Saying it was mayhem would be putting it lightly. Good variety of equipment to keep kids entertained, most in good condition. Rubber flooring which is always a big plus. Bathrooms are close to the playground area which is great when one is potty training. I saw a splash park is being built which sounds nice in theory but the thought of the unruly terrorists mentioned about running wild on a wet surface gives me palpitations. Oh, and the very realistic looking toy gun lying around didn't help either. Wtf brings that to a park? Kendall thuggery at its finest! read more

Westwind Lakes Park - Let's take this "toy" to the park, said no responsible parent ever. - Parks Near Me - Miami, Florida

There are was few parks around my house, but I travel 7 miles or so to this one, simply because I love the fact that they have two playgrounds in one. I also love that there is *no* sand near playground. I withheld the last star because this park does not have swings, which is something children love. There also isn't a lot of shade for us parents nor good lighting once the sun goes down in playground area. With the time change, sun has been going down at 5:30 pm, I wish there was lighting at this park, allowing for more playtime. Aside from playground, we also enjoy the workout stations provided for exercise, as well as jogging path. read more

The bathroom is already closed at 5?!! Are you freaking kidding me?!! I want to give you less points for that since this is the second time I've encountered a problem with the bathroom at this park. However... Other than that, this park is really great. Very spacious with plenty of parking. There is also a nice little skate park inside the park. read more

One of the only parks I take my kids to in Kendall. I do suggest to steer clear on the weekends if you have children under 5 Bc the playground gets super crowded with older kids that can accidentally knock over your little ones, but so far I have had 3 parties for my kids at this park and they have all been a hit! read more

I went to a friend birthday party. The splash area it great for kids, lot of water fun. The playground is great for the little one and older kids. Park has a trail and to walk and has area to reserve for family festivities. No fee to park. read more

This used to be one of my favorite parks in Kendall for running and exercising. They keep it very clean and it has fairly good shaded trees along the paved running/walking course. The grass is always mowed and kept in great shape. I still use the park for running but I'm not happy about one thing. The park has many signs indicating that pets are not allowed in the park, but every day there are many individuals walking with dogs on the running/walking path and no one is there to enforce that code. On several occasions I was attacked by dogs as I ran by them, thank God I haven't been bitten yet but it's a scary experience. I've also seen people with dogs running around without a leash. This is an accident waiting to happen since the park attracts a lot of young kids. Because there are no poop bags available at the park people don't clean after their pets. If no pets allowed sigs are posted all over this park there should be a park ranger or someone from the administration office making sure that the regulation is enforced on an everyday basis. If nothing is done about this issue this beautiful park is going to go downhill really fast. read more

Splash pad is closed indefinitely. Very disappointing. Playground is nice and big but needs more shade. Why aren't there swings?
