I could go on and on about the natural beauty of this park. It's a must to go at sunrise, and sunset! Not to mention swimming is incredibly! One of the clearest, smoothest bodies of water with views of cruise ships on certain days. One of my favorite spots in South Florida, and I find myself visiting at least monthly.
This beautiful pier is located at the southernmost point of Miami Beach. From here, you get a wonderful view of the coast and water. We rented bikes and had a pleasant ride through the park with many stops for pictures. it's the perfect place for a beachy or athletic photoshoot. Very instagramable!

This part of the beach is far from all the action but if you're looking for a little quieter area of South Beach, this is it. There is a small cafe and restrooms. I was also lucky to see manatees from the pier. Only negative is parking fills up early.

The park is alongside the water, there is green space for hammocks and picnics. There are benches for seating. There are dog parks and a park area of kids, as well as the large pier area. The restaurant Smith and Wollensky is close by if that's your vibe. Definitely a great park to walk or bike around in!

From the park, you can see the panoramic views of the South Beach shoreline, the cruise ships at the Port of Miami, and Downtown Miami's skyline. Beautiful views everywhere! Its a few minutes walk to the beach, and the South Pointe Pier. The park also have a dog park, where dogs come and play. It also have barbeque areas, lounges, picnic area, children's playground, walking trail, a yoga class and a lot more! Check it out!
There's an awesome playground and spray park here, with an ice cream / snack shop and clean public restroom . Shade areas with benches underneath for resting or reading
This 17-acre urban park is the southern most tip of the South Beach, on Miami Beach Island. Whenever we visit Miami, we come here. It reminds me of Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, in which they all face east to Atlantic Ocean, which has the pounding waves. (Miami is in the north and Rio's in the south of Atlantic Ocean.) But a slight angle to the South, the body of water becomes calmer. Bikers, walkers, joggers, kids, pets, beach, Smith & Wollensky, meter parking can be tough.
South Pointe Park is my favorite park in Miami by far. I usually come here on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon to unplug, go for a walk, enjoy the ocean views, spotting the container and/or cruise ships going in and out, have a picnic at either the Hills or around the lighthouse grounds, etc. I just love it, just wished it were closer to me.
Gorgeous park with clear white sandy beaches. Minimal sea life and arm seaweed, a vast distance of standable beaches area in the water to soak and enjoy the waves. Various lifeguard stands and a nice walkway along the beach if you don't want to go in the sand! Come back here often when we visit Miami!
This just may be my favorite park in Miami. South Pointe Park is located at the southernmost tip of Miami Beach island, at the end of Washington Avenue. The 17 acres of land for this park was donated to the City of Miami in 1979 by the Federal Government but at first Miami did not see the potential for a park. Instead they built municipal buildings and the Harbor Police, Miami police investigators, and the police horses were all housed here. In 1985 the land was converted into South Pointe Park with an amphitheater, two wooden observation towers, picnic pavilions, fitness courses and a wooden boardwalk over Miami Beach's last natural sand dune. The park was renovated in 1995 and in 2009 the it received a 22 million dollar redesign by the Hargreaves Associates, of New York City. New features added to the park included 20-foot walkways lined with Florida limestone and an ocean-themed children's playground, and splashpad. Unfortunately the splash pad and playground are currently closed. At the southern edge of the park is the large public art piece, Obstinate Lighthouse by German artist Tobias Rehberger. The lighthouse makes a great backdrop for pictures or string a hammock between the palm trees and relax in the tropical breeze. For foodies, Smith & Wollensky is a fine dining steakhouse located in the park. One of my favorite parts of the park is the South Pointe Pier which offers stunning panoramic views of the South Beach shoreline, Port Miami's cruise ships, downtown Miami's skyline, Fisher Island, and giant ships going out to see. I even saw manatees swimming off the pier. South Pointe Park also has direct access to the beach, walking trails, picnic and barbecue areas, benches, and an off-leash bark park. If there is a drawback to the park it is that parking can be a hassle, especially on a weekend. You have to pay to park and half of the lot is reserved for valet parking at Smith & Wollensky. Street parking in this area is scarcer than a unicorn. I came on a Saturday and had to give up. The next time I came it was a weekday and I was able to get a spot without too much of a problem. If you are able to secure parking this is a great park to visit. Another great option is to visit by Citi Bike which you can pick up at different kiosks around South Beach.

It features a a popular place to fish with stations for cutting bait and washing fish. Seating offered for various vantage points of the ocean, beach, cruise ships, yachts and boats going by. Free to visit, the pier is open 7:30am to 6pm.
It's really nice spot to walk or sit down and enjoy the view of the beach and the beautiful ocean and enjoy the water changing colors. It's also suitable for fishing; you can also watch the fish swimming in the water; very beautiful scenery in my opinion. They have seats and gazebo to rest under the shade.
This is a must visit spot if visiting Miami Beach. Parking can be a challenge. You may have to park a block away, but it's not a bad walk to get to the pier. The pier has nice views of the water. There are benches on the pier to stop and sit. It's a great spot for photo ops. Kid friendly with a great walking trail that leads up to the pier. It has a small park attached with a water sprinkler feature that you can walk through to cool off from the heat. There are clean bathrooms and a great little frozen treat spot all close to the pier.

South Pointe Park Pier is built on constraint. It's not a beach destination, it's not a fishing resort, it's a working pier where the water isn't about recreation, it's about commerce. Container ships move through this harbor. You stand on the jetty and watch scale happen in real time, cranes and stacks and the whole industrial apparatus that makes Miami function. That's more honest than another beach bar with a sunset filter. The pier is maintained like it matters. The surface holds, the railing is sound, the whole structure feels like someone decided it shouldn't fall apart, and they stuck with that decision. The breakwater gives you rock access, shallow water, tide-dependent depth. Early morning swimmers treat it seriously. The jetty extends far enough that the city shrinks behind you, and you're in dialogue with the open water instead of looking at it from shore. read more

This park has such a beautiful view in every way possible, it is super cute and family friendly , you can do picnics or take your little ones to the play area, they also have parking available how ever you do have to pay for it and make sure the time doesn't run out because otherwise they will tow your car! You can also see all the cruises taking off which is lovely ! I would recommend it read more
Parking in the area was a challenge on a sunny Sunday afternoon. There is a lot for the park as well as street parking. It is a great park to walk or have a picnic or barbecue. There is also a cafe. There is a playground with a splash pad. If you bring your dog, there is a bark park where they can run off leash. I spent about an hour walking the park, the views of the city skyline were stunning, you can also see the cruise ships if they are in port as well as large yachts. read more

The pier is at the furthest south end of South Pointe Park. The views are beautiful. You can fish off the pier, and they have fish cleaning stations in case you catch something. The pier is open dawn to dusk. The gates to the pier are closed at night. read more

The park is plenty nice but the parking and the people have made this a hard pass for us. We really like the design of the park, the views are stunning and the splash pad/ park area are nice. The parking though has become impossible and the beach itself is insufferable. Too many a$$hole that only care about themselves. I don't want to listen to your music on blast on your oversized speaker I will go to a more chill spot for sure read more
If you are coming to Miami Beach and have a family, this is the spot to go to. There is something for everyone. Playground and wet play area, snack bar, green area with picnic tables, and even a wallboard to ride bikes... and of course, there is the beach itself. Parking can be a bit tricky, so if you are coming for the whole day, plan in advance and reserve a parking spot online. read more
Loved visiting this park when in Miami. The pier was my favorite!!! You walk off the green area down to the park. there is a long pier and some bike rentals along the way if you are interested. The pier itself is pretty long with tall sides but offers amazing views! We saw big schools of jellyfish over the side and we loved looking out onto the beach area at the beautiful crystal clear water. We also enjoyed that there was a semi-covered area here with a bench where we could sit and take a break for a few minutes in the shade. This is a must visit place if you are at the beach here. read more
A park and a pier in the same place! Beautiful first impressions! Clean, airy, relaxing with ocean views, fountains, magnificent high rise architecture, lots of shade for grass lounging, and chubby pier feral cats! This is a desirable location with waterfront living. It's inviting for walking, biking, skateboarding and resting. From the pier itself, there are observable panoramic sights of the island, cityscape, marina, ocean freight passing, and South Beach. Amazingly, on my first visit, within about a half an hour span, the sky turned from bright and sunny to dark and stormy. The warm wind also picked up, strong enough to turn my hair into a face-shield. Long hair struggles aside, the pier is creatively designed with straight and jagged lines; mirroring the ocean waves and sandy South Beach. If the weather weren't bipolar that day, I could've spent more time staring out and around. read more

We visited this park twice: once during the day to eat lunch and once for sunset. It's a nice park to visit during the day. There are good views and it's not crowded at all. Don't come for sunset. Parking is impossible to find. My husband ended up dropping me off because there is no parking because of crowds. It was a zoo. I didn't think the sunset view was that great and certainly not worth the being in the crowds. Enjoy the park during the day, skip it for sunset. read more

Yes, I like to take long walks on the beach...to Southern Pointe Park Pier! This is a good destination to hit up in South Beach. Some great views of incoming yatchs, rocks, and for you to take some shots! (Double meaning intended. :P) You can fish at the end of the pier as well if that's your thing too, but you have to bring your own equipment. Oh! And sunrises/sunsets here are beautiful too! There are also some fantastic eats a short walk away! The Lobster Shack or Joe's Stone Crab to name a few!! read more
Really nice area to walk - spacious and clean. Depending upon the day and time - it can get busy. Sundays you can come down to check out the drum circle - many people gathering, listening to drums and music, dancing, doing yoga. There's a park nearby with a splash pad. There's a small spot there to buy some goodies (snacks, ice cream, etc.) At the end there's a nice pier that then connects you to Miami Beach. There are many spots to sit on the grass - so pack a picnic and enjoy the view. There's a parking lot nearby but it's often busy as it does share the same lot as the restaurant nearby there. Best bet is to find meter parking and walk. read more

Are the restrooms open? When I went last year, they were closed but don't know whether it was temporary
Not yet. I was there last week and they still had about 5 free standing blue restrooms just behind the hill (if you're coming from the kids fountain park, go under the hill pathway and they'll be to your left.)
How much is for the parking if we have to pay?
Anywhere from $0.01 to $1000000.00 per hour.
How much is parking? Is there a a discounted price if you go after a certain time?
I didn't see any specific parking for the park or that area. We parked at a meter a block or so away since it's a busy area. It was worth it though.
Are dogs allowed on the beach?
There's a dog park in the park itself but the beach area dogs are not allowed until sundown .. however I never see anyone enforcing it before 9-930am
Is it free to go to this park? Can we grill barbecue?
Parking is not free. As far as grilling I am not sure, but doubt it
Is the parking easy or pain in the butt? I am looking for a beach half day with family will this south point do the trick?
Parking is a pain in the butt around there. If you want to go to the beach and want easy parking, head up the beach to around 70th street or perhaps to key biscayne
