Recently my daughter and I stopped by North Beach to enjoy a more quiet vibe and less populated beach. North Beach is that beach. It is beautiful here with nice soft sand, peaceful views, and is a bit different from South Beach where it is crowded, noisy and busy. Don't get me wrong, South Beach is beautiful also if you want to party and like big crowds. North Beach also has Argentinian restaurants nearby as well as shopping for your convenience but on a smaller scale. It is a nice neighborhood with minimum tourists. You can also enjoy the boardwalk, play volleyball, workout, and swim, This beach is great for families also. Parking is a bit hard to find so have patience because I have found that parking is a problem anywhere at any beach in Florida. I would definitely return to this lovely beach. read more

I go to North Beach when i go for a long walk on a weekend. This part of Miami Beach have less crowd compared to the famous Ocean Drive. Its like the same beach with less people and noise. Close to a lot of restaurants and stores, just a few minutes walk if you get hungry or thirsty. Public transportatiom like buses and trolleys are passing this side of Miami Beach so you just can take them if you dont have a car, or have a long, relaxing walk at board walk to go to this beach. read more

Okay so you know I'm thinking about my old home in Florida because it's freezing cold outside. The weather in South Florida is perfect today in the mid 70's! I can feel the ocean breeze while I'm sitting in the sand at North Beach. I frequently visited to get a change of scenery from where I grew up in Broward County. It's a nice drive down the coast. I still felt like I was getting away for the day. The beaches are clean and since my boyfriend drove I didn't worry about parking my car. He was very resourceful when he needed a parking spot. Beautiful sand, clear water, though the water was too cold for me for swimming. I'm spoiled with the 85° water temps in the summer! Water temps here in January are in the low 70s, with just a bit of seaweed on the shore. There's lifeguard stations here, as well as rest/change rooms, and body showers (near 5301 Collins Parking lot). Not as many hotels here, so it's a bit quieter. This is a family-friendly beach, which offers beautiful, clear water, a clean beach, and it's not crowded. Easily accessible, if you have small kids there are two nice playgrounds: Pirate Park playground[1] and the playground with the zip line near Allison Park[2]. There are also several outdoor showers along the coastline, and a public restroom right behind North Shore Branch Public Library, between 75th and 76th street. Parking may be difficult in the area, depending on the time of the year, and overall this neighborhood looks like it has seen better days, with several run-down places and a few boarded up ones. This is the beach closest to me, and I go quite often, so I may be biased, but I love North Beach. Beautiful clear-blue water. White sand. Not too crowded. Usually a quiet, chill place to relax. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby to get pre-/post-beach nibbles, drinks, and beach supplies. Paid parking lots located throughout the neighborhood. There are clean, easily accessible public bathrooms in the building behind the volleyball courts at the 72 St entrance to the beach and at the playground at 65 St. Showers (recently updated in 2019) are located at the 69, 71st, and 72 Sts entrances. read more

So disappointed....This has always been our go to beach in the Miami Beach area however Miami Beach needs to start cleaning up the coastline every morning to scoop up the seaweed the way Fort Lauderdale beach does so that be h goers can actually enjoy the water and so that the stench in the air will go away. Before coming to Miami, I did some research on the best beaches in the area. Many people recommended North Beach and I was not disappointed! My Airbnb was located across the street from the 73 street entrance which was super convenient. I only had a beach towel, but they had beach lounge chair rentals though I decided to save some money and just lay on my towel. This beach is just lovely! The water is very turquoise blue and the sand is soft. It had a more laid back vibe. Mostly locals and some European tourists. There were some volleyball courts and a nice walkway adjacent to the beach which would make for a nice stroll. Lots of metered parking and many restaurants and cafes to sit outside and enjoy the sun. Overall, a nice beach and I was very happy to be staying right across the street from the entrance! read more

Although this area is infamous for poor parking availability, that contributes to its private feel which is both a blessing and a curse at the same time. Just a quick walk from plenty of South American restaurants and cafes, this pristine sandy beach is the perfect destination for beach goers of all ages, it's less noisy than the southern beaches which are usually overcome by huge hotels and congested areas on the sand. As long as you bring all your essentials, this is the perfect spot to visit when you want a perfect day in the sun with friends of family in a quieter setting. Granted the more north you go, the quieter it seems to get but this location isn't far from areas in Miami Beach that don't want a long commute to a quieter and calmer beach. read more

I've been taking advantage of this slightly cooler weather to visit the different beaches in Miami. NorthBeach is amongst one of my favorites to visit. It's a great way to get away from the traffic and party crowds that usually accompany Miami Beach. My favorite time to go is around 2:30-3pm. The suns still out and you can get a tan, but within an hour or 2 it's already going down, and you've got this tremendous breezy, chilly weather that's quite enjoyable. Pros: 1. Mon-Fri parking is easily attainable. I can't vouch for the weekends. 2. Sand is pretty clean, and it's a short walk from parking. 3. The crowd tends to be more laid back, and it's not noisy at all. 4. Lifeguard towers galore to keep you safe. 5. Around 3pm Cons: 1. Some days the water can get a little "seaweedy." 2. A lot of the areas don't have a dedicated shower/bathroom area. So prepare to use the ocean as your toilet. 3. Not too many restaurants/bars within walking distance so you'll have to opt to find parking again. read more

North Beach is one of my favorite beaches in Miami. It's quiet and clean. Not many tourists are around. Many parking spots can be found right in front of the beach. It's convenient for a family with young children. The distance from the parking lot to the beach is shorter compared to South Miami Beach. Children can change clothes in the car. Manny fresh water fountains are available near by. There are many restaurants located across the street. Food can be delivered to the beach if requested. There are lifeguards on duty during operation hours. Sunscreen can be purchased on vending machines if you forget to bring it (it's hanging on the fence). The beach is more enjoyable after low tide. (11am) The water is more clear and clean. The bottom of the ocean can be viewed clearly. Many small fishes and crabs can be found under the seaweed. read more

List time... Pros: 1) Almost always empty 2) Seemingly no tourists 3) Super close to my condo 4) Calm and quiet 5) A beach (gotta love the beach) Cons: 1) TRASH EVERYWHERE!!!! I often find myself spending 30 minutes picking up trash. Cigarette butts, plastic bottles, abandoned tubes, you name it. 2) Seaweed? Can I count that as a con? 3) No recycling bins 4) Did I mention the trash? Summary: North beach is great for the family, if you want peace and serenity, or want to avoid tourists. Although the trash is a bummer, the reality is south Florida is super trashy so it does not matter which beach you go to, your sure to find a used "balloon" or candy wrapper stuck to your foot at some point. read more

I love my NoBe beach spot!! There's never a crazy amount of tourists - even in high season. There's plenty of parking in the pay lot or on the street, if you get there early enough (around 10). Plus, the bums are just so friendly that they are willing to help you with the parking machine ;-). It's my favorite spot for a chill-under-the-umbrella day. The waves are a bit more rough (using that term loosely) than other areas of Miami Beach, but that makes it a tad bit exciting, right? I love the proximity of affordable breakfast, lunch, and dinner spots, just a block away along Collins. Not to mention Lou's Beer Garden, right around the corner. read more

We love this beach! The parking lot is huge and inexpensive with tons of space available, except on holidays and some random weekends. The water is clean - most of the time - and the sand is soft and smooth. Though now and then you may come across 'rocky' sections, it is a pristine beach. Note to tourists: THIS IS NOT NORTH MIAMI BEACH, this is NORTH BEACH. North Miami Beach is around the 163rd St area and is not a beach or even near it. That being said, the beaches of North Beach are some of the most beautiful I've seen and are always well maintained. Most stretches of the beach are pretty quiet and mainly a well kept secret of locals... However, it can get pretty crowded on holidays, but that's to be expected. Just south of 65th there are some really cool pathways to explore but be prepared to see quite a few cats along the way. read more

This is where the locals from the south go for some peacefulness from Sobe Miami. Well, tourists come here too! The norther you go - beach wise, you will find cleaner beaches, away from Sobe. A tourist's view: If you're looking for a "scene," as in tatas, clubs, and noise, then of course there is South Beach (which I thoroughly enjoyed as a much younger dude). If you're looking for something quieter, cleaner, and more secluded, then North Beach is the better option. Spanning from the lower 60s to roughly the 80s (along Collins Avenue), you'll have no shortage of places to pitch a tent to sunbathe, swim, or stroll along the coast. (Now, If you're wanting something REALLY quiet, then head further north, to Surfside and Bell Harbor, which also offer great beaches). Although the beach itself is nothing spectacular in NoBe, it happens to be extremely well kept, consistently clean, and runs for miles. You will not be disappointed. For those wanting physical recreation, there are bike rentals nearby (and several connecting paths that run all the way to Bell Harbor), as well as several entry points for kitesurfing and such. The boardwalk is fairly free of the typical traffic that one finds in South Beach, so you won't be constantly dodging pedestrians while biking or running. NoBe has enough hotels, restaurants, and general stores to satisfy all the amenities of a tourist, while also offering some local flavor (it happens to be "Little Argentina"). All the places that cater to tourists are situated along Collins, but in the blocks heading west, one will find no shortage of cafes and diners that cater to the various Spanish-speaking tongues. read more

Nice beach and not too many crazy tourists. The beach is a lot smaller than the other beaches (i.e., the distance from the water to the mean high tide line is pretty short). There isn't too much seaweed (YAY) and the water also is less seaweed-y than South Beach. Parking is abundant and cheap (another plus) and no crazies. Just a short drive from I-195, so come here instead of South Beach, or even mid-beach; you won't regret it. read more

North Beach is my safe haven. It's what I come to Miami for. Not for the overhyped, ridiculously crowded South Beach. I escape to North Beach in order to enjoy the calming sound of the water and not be approached by club promoters every other second. The beaches are cleaner and there's more space for you to lay out. It was busier than usual during NYE, but that was to be expected considering the holiday and Orange Bowl. There aren't nearly as many bars/restaurants, so packing snacks and beverages is ideal. read more

I stayed at fountainblue last year paid a fortune and had a blast but staying here im having just as good a time hotel is just as fancy amd water is just as good. I got free parking at hotel whereas on south beach hotels charge $40-100 a night to parm. I paid $62/night at fountainblue last year. read more

Love going to this beach! It is a great alternative to South Beach. Parking is available in flat lot across the street for $1 an hour. Get there 10 AM ish and spaces are plentiful. Subway is 2 blocks away and a great place to pick up a sandwich before heading to the beach area. We have never had any problems here and it has become our local beach spot. This is my favorite beach in Miami, it could be because I live within walking distance but even so this beach rocks :) there is free parking (helllllo sobe!) and the beach is never to crowded, the crowd is mostly locals or people from nearby hotels on Collins. You're more likely to encounter a loud family here playing then loud rowdy party people, which is something I like. If you're looking for a crazy party beach head down to Ocean, if you're looking for a place to chill, catch some sun, go swimming without having to deal with the crazies of Sobe this is the spot! read more
