The Inn is a unique collection of houses and rooms close to downtown Ithaca - walking distance! Upon arriving, I'm greeted by hosts Madeline and Kenn--and the most amazing smells from Madeline's kitchen! Between the local apple cider and the amazing breakfasts, I tell myself calories don't count at the Inn. Some things to note: -Kenn is an architect, see if you can get him to talk about the history of building the inn -The Inn is dog friendly!! -Snag the gazebo is you're wanting some privacy -Bring hiking boots and explore the nearby trails -Book early... there might be times you can be spontaneous, but for big weekends (alumni/reunion, commencement), the rooms book up WAY in advance

Breakfast offerings change daily and she uses the freshest ingredients; I'm super picky and every option sounded scrumptious. It was hard to choose just one! HIGHLY recommend the Gazebo room; it is a standalone room situated towards the back of the property and is very private and romantic. The decor is simple, yet elegant. It includes an oversized jet tub, spacious bedroom and bathroom and mini fridge. There is also a fireplace in the room and is stocked with lavender toiletries. My boyfriend and I appreciated the attention to detail in this room. We will absolutely be back! Madeline and Ken were happy to recommend activities and restaurants as well. There is a lot to do in the area and I cannot wait to visit in the fall. Parking off-street, wi-fi, delicious cookies and juice served in the evenings, beautiful grounds and the list goes on. You will NOT be disappointed with this lovely bed and breakfast.

The house reminded me of a classic New York summer retreat house with its craftsman style and antique decor. Our room had beautiful Laura Ashley and Ralph Lauren linens, which gave it a very cozy homey feel. The two breakfasts (fluffy blueberry pancakes & homemade syrup, melon & fresh squeezed orange juice the first morning, and pepper, cheese & leek omelettes with strawberries & grilled pear caramelized with cinnamon & sugar and fresh squeezed orange juice the second morning) and cheese platter on our arrival night were delicious. We especially enjoyed spending our evenings on the front porch where there was a view of the lake, pleasant breeze, and fire flies & stars abound. The house is very centrally located to explore area wineries (which we did via bike) and Watkins Glen (highly recommend hiking the Watkins Glen State Park). It was our first post-COVID quarantine trip so we were a bit nervous, but Cathy kept it immaculately clean, provided hand sanitizer, which was always available by the front door and in our room, and Clorox wipes in the bathroom, and she always wore a mask when she interacted with us. We truly enjoyed our stay!

The family dog, Mayzie, greeted us upon arrival and was an instant friend and model hostess! The separate guest house is spacious and cozy, with a wood burning stove, living room and large kitchen on the first floor, and two queen/king beds and two singles on the second floor, so great for families. The grounds are gorgeous, with family horses roaming and rolling fields. The location is great--red newt winery is in walking distance and the Seneca Wine Trail right off Tichenor Road. Wonderful stay, can't wait to get back!

stayed here in sept 2012 for a girls weekend. the finger lakes are beautiful this place was not. we…read morestayed in a renovated barn ( i use term renovated loosely) the place was just plain filthy the toilet had not been cleaned for quite some time, the kitchen had mousetraps set in large gaps underneath the counters. there were mouse droppings in the toasters, the coffee pot had old dried coffee in it, some of the cabinets were taped closed with masking tape because they didn't close, upon opening the cabinets we found old paint cans, a variety of drills, old christmas decorations etc. looked like the place was used as a garage instead of a kitchen. in addition to that there was miscellaneous junk stashed and stuffed in every corner, a large vat of what appeared to be cooking oil, breast pads and half empty water bottles in bureau drawers the fridge was dirty with crumbs, spills and leftover food from previous renters. when we awoke afer our first night the mice had eaten our breakfast. they had chewed through bags of bagels, bread and danish, they left droppings in our wine glasses. when i contacted the owner regarding these issues she replied that we were charged a modest price for modest accomodations and refused to give us any compensation. we were charged $115 per night for a filthy barn infested with mice. she said it was cozy and rustic. i am a well traveled person both here in the us and abroad. i've stayed on working farms before, cozy and rustic i expect but there is no such thing as charmingly filthly. i've stayed in nicer tents .don't stay here you'll be wasting your modestly hard earned cash.

However, other B&Bs most likely will not live up to Lake Valley Legends! Lou & Vickie make this place so enjoyable. Their hospitality and personalities just make this the best B&B ever! We stayed here for 2 nights in the Cottage Blue/French Yellow Suite - which are two adjoining rooms with a lot of beds - great for a group! The room was so cute and adorable. There was a half bath in the room and a full bathroom across the hall. I absolutely loved the breakfast they provided on the weekends. Lou & Vickie cooked it themselves! The first time we had German eggs - mmmm cheesy eggs - I finished my entire plate because it was so yummyyy! The second night we had peach french toast, which was also very good! There were also homemade biscuits, scones, parfait yogurt with fresh fruits. All the food was nicely presented and delicious! They also serve coffee at 6:30AM for those early birds! This is also a great location if you're visiting Watkins Glen State Park. We were able to walk to the park and save $ on parking. Overall, I had such a pleasant time here at Lake Valley Legends! I highly recommend it! Lou & Vickie are the best! & for all you Pokemon Go players - I found a Caterpie on my bed!

Lou and Vickie are the ultimate of hosts - friendly, welcoming and so kind. They're also fabulous cooks! The place really felt like our own. 4 of us had two adjoining rooms which was basically our own little suite. One room had a half bath inside and our full bath was down the hallway and only to be used by our two rooms which was nice. We were able to come in and out of the house as we pleased. Everything was so easy. Saturday breakfast: Fresh fruit (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries) with vanilla yogurt and granola to start Coffee, orange juice, water, tea, milk German eggs was the main course - i would compare it to a cheesy frittata Then we were on our way to Letchworth State Park, we came back late afternoon and showered and rested. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. Not once did we feel uncomfortable. Sunday breakfast: Ambrosia - homemade and delicious! Coffee, orange juice, cranberry juice, water, tea, milk Peach french toast - so decadant and sweet. It was more like a baked bread pudding. This was the best! Notes: This place is within walking distance to Watkins Glen State Park if you are up for the walk. It's about a 15 minute walk or 0.8 miles. Once you get to the top of Watkins Glen you can even walk home (all down hill on the walk home since the park is all uphill walking!) You can get there early and not pay for parking too (before 8 am) A great weekend at a wonderful B&B!
