My highest compliments go out to Bud & Kim for their delicious breakfast each morning of our stay. We got a great deal at only $110/night, which isn't too bad for a B&B, but this is the off season. Room was nice and cozy, we got the one with the attached single and bathroom. Cons: Shower is very strange; just sort of gushes water out at you. TVs are very small (not really a con for us, but might be a big deal for others) Bea told us to bring swimming trunks for the hot tub, but it was closed for the year -- it's a hot tub, they're perfectly suited for winter months. Sometimes it's really 'too' much like home. Was woken up the last morning by her grandson -- I definitely didn't pay for that! Overall, a nice experience. Don't be taken aback by the fact that it's right on 'Main Street'. Spencer is a blip of a town, and almost certainly farther away from civilization than you are right now. Note: You will not get cellular service in Spencer; if you need to make a phone call, you'll either have to ask to use the house phone or drive to Ithaca (about 25 minutes).

The hosts, Greg and Lilly were gracious and kind and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. They were super conscious of my husband's allergies, to the point of getting locally sourced duck eggs to prepare his breakfast, as he's allergic to chicken eggs. Speaking of which - the breakfasts were amazing each day! Another couple there mentioned that they had never stayed in a B&B before and were commenting on how great it was - but this B&B is head and shoulders above any we've ever stayed at - I hope they don't expect this level of wonderfulness at every place they stay in the future, because the Beekman House is unique. Glenora Tree Farm B&B is just back off the Main Route, so its peaceful and quiet, yet situated so you can drive in either direction to your desired destination. The room we stayed in was comfy, cozy and clean!! The common area was pleasant and the front porch delightful. Kim makes a delicious breakfast to get you started on your days adventure and there is usually a sweet treat for later in the day. We were so fortunate to meet nice people at a family style breakfast and gleaned some great tips on places to visit that we hadn't known about. All in all it was a great fun. However, there was no attention to detail with weed filled borders and no flowers or mums in the lovely urns gracing the front (unused) entrance. Our host Kris was very welcoming and gracious...Quite a conversationalist and made us feel at home. The interior of the home, had large common rooms, and was clean. It is in desperate need of area rugs, more furniture, wall decor, flowers... anything to add warmth. The room in which we stayed had a comfortable bed and huge bathroom. Both very clean. However, staying at more B & B's than we can count, we were disappointed with the following: 1- A HUGE black plastic bag covered the waste can in our bathroom. I know that sounds petty, but we're in a B & B...not a Motel 6. There was no floor mat when exiting the shower so egress was onto the linoleum. 2- The windows were not only painted shut, but nailed shut. So, no fresh air. (Kris did provide a fan for our use). Most importantly there was no speedy escape route if there was (God forbid) a fire outside in the hall. (Fellow guess we met at breakfasts verbalized the same concern(s). 3- Breakfast was quite disappointing. Scrambled eggs, hash browns and Canadian bacon. All served in chafing dishes in the new, large kitchen. Again... this is fine, however, in a B & B, the breakfast is usually a looked forward to 'event'. Numerous boxes of Entemann's pastries were also available. Plastic utensils were set out, along with plastic cups for juice. Even though there was real silverware, glasses, etc., plastic was set out. Serving ourselves was perfectly fine, there was just no attention to detail. Large containers of sugar, powdered cream, etc., were set on the counters instead of lovely servers. It's the little things that make a B & B. So, all that being said we will not return. Although it is clean, right next to the lovely falls and within minutes of Watkins Glen.

The whole place was immaculate, and I have to commend them on a tremendous job on the renovations to the property; you wouldn't believe the farmhouse was built in 1847! Some bed & breakfasts drop the ball on the whole "breakfast" part of "B&B," but that's definitely not the case at the Apex Inn! We had such an incredible time in our little cottage! From check-in to check-out, everything was…read moresmooth. The hosts are welcoming, informative, and really keep these grounds pristine. Although the cottages are right off the main road, once you are sitting on your porch, listening to the birds and sounds of the creek, you are transported. The welcome basket upon arrival is a sweet touch! We loved making a fire each night and being "unplugged". We will definitely be back one day!

To be clear, the road is NOT right on top of the site and at night, when traffic is lower, you'd hardly know it's there. However, when a truck passes during the day, the illusion of seclusion is lost a bit. On the flip side, the owner has planted some tree lines that should grow in and make the space more secluded over time. To boot, there's a drought and the area is less lush than usual. But now the GOOD stuff. Clean, quaint, every attention to detail is considered. Breakfast basket, swing, firepit, barbecue grill, porch facing the brook. Just great. Firewood can be purchased on site for $4. We are really happy to be here instead of a hotel. Grilling in the evening to save money and be outdoors. We're really enjoying the experience.
