You can tell that they really take care to do a fantastic job and take pride in their work. This is after going to several other area groomers who did NOT know how to groom Golden-doodles to say the least. Also, admittedly, every time I've brought Onyx in, she was in TERRIBLE need of a groom and she always comes back looking great, even though she often has to be shaved down quite short due to matting. I will add that only once did she come back not looking as great as usual but still okay...on this day there was a man receiving her that I had never seen before and I didn't see the usual two woman who are usually there.

I chose The Hairy Barker because of the great reviews on Yelp and they did a great job on the hair cuts. My only negative is that I was quite taken aback by the less that welcoming feeling that I got when I arrived. No warm fuzzies there at all, but I guess that is not what I am paying them for.

The other times that my puppy has seen another groomer it's been a much higher price and not as good of an experience. Less friendly and not as well groomed. Most recently, I had the worst experience yet when Amy went out of town. My dog had matting around his neck after his neuter surgery so the man at the front said it would take a longer time to groom him and it would be more expensive. I dropped him and they agreed to call me to give me an exact price. It was around $60 more than usual so I asked if they could confirm this with Amy. It was agreed that they would groom my puppy while they waited to hear back from Amy. After six hours, I called to check in and they said that they never heard back from Amy so they didn't go ahead with the grooming and instead just let my puppy sit there for 6 hours. This was a total lack of good judgment and service. If they misunderstood, then they should have called me to check in rather than just letting my puppy sit there for 6 hours. I wondered what they would have done if I had not called. Would he have just stayed there overnight? And they did not apologize for the way they very poorly handled the situation. They just said oh sorry you can pick him up now. Terrible business practices! And it does often smell of second hand smoke as other customers have noted. Without Amy there, this business is terrible and has incredibly bad customer service and care.

The next day, he developed an ear infection, something he has never had in his seven years of life or after any previous grooming. When we contacted the owner, Patty, instead of taking accountability or helping us, she was extremely rude and argumentative with my mom, accused us of lying, and claimed our dog already had an infection and that we don't properly care for him. None of this was mentioned when we dropped him off or picked him up. She even had the audacity to ask for his vet's number so she can speak to him because she didn't believe us. He also came home with bloody diarrhea. Mistakes can happen, but refusing to take responsibility, blaming the customer, and being disrespectful when we simply asked for reasonable compensation was completely unprofessional. Especially considering how expensive the service is, we expected much better. We didn't thoroughly check reviews before going but they're consistent with what we experienced, rude owner, cuts on the dog, no accountability. We will absolutely not be returning, and couldn't recommend it to anyone.

**DEEPLY UPSETTING GROOMING EXPERIENCE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR A KEESHOND…read more I brought my two Keeshonds to Beau Chien expecting professional, breed appropriate grooming (especially when I was told by Alex he had experience grooming Keeshonds). Unfortunately, this turned into the worst grooming experience me and my two dogs ever had! Keeshonds are a double-coated dog breed and proper grooming requires preserving the coat (especially their signature mane). My female's mane was completely chopped off, drastically changing her appearance and coat structure. She barely resembled a Keeshond and looked more like a Polar Bear. My male's grooming was very concerning to me! About a week and a half (after their grooming appointment at Beau Chien) I took them to get their hair brushed from a groomer who had pointed out to me how thin my males mane was and showed me multiple bald patches on his neck where his hair had clearly been pulled out rather than gently brushed. or properly de-matted. Seeing those areas where his hair was gone had extremely upset me. Prior to their grooming at Beau Chien I had taken them to their regular groomers in Bethel. However, my groomer was fully booked and would not be able to groom them for another month. She came out to see the both of my dogs as she always did and checked their coats (a regular thing she does). I left there and went home. A week later I had taken them to Beau Chien. After this experience at Beau Chien I went back to my regular groomer to show her the chop job they each had. My groomer was in shock (as I had been when I saw my female) when she saw how the female's mane was completely chopped off as well as all her fur too. It looked like she was groomed by EDWARD SCISSOR HANDS! My groomer told me that both my Keeshonds were no where near severely matted and that there was absolutely no need to drastically chop off their hair female's mane and a huge majority of her fur and same with my male. She said that an experienced and patient groomer (familiar with the breed) would have safely brushed through her mane and not have chopped it all off which I agree with her a 100%! When I contacted the owner to discuss what had happened to my two dogs, I was told "It was the Humane thing to do" We are not there to euthanize my dog, we were there for them to get groomed!! I was in shock the owner said that to me! Humane grooming should never result in unnecessary coat removal or bald patches on my dog's throat. This experience left me feeling that there was a lack of breed specific knowledge, poor handling of double-coated dogs. NO WILLINGNESS to ACKNOWLEDGE CLIENT CONCERNS AFTERWARDS. I am sick over this chop job they called grooming
