The place is not really that big however he could have stayed in there for hours if I let him. The staff that were there gave us space to explore the place and asked if we needed help finding anything. Then they started having a conversation with my boyfriend about a record that was playing in the store. I ended up purchasing for pins for myself and he got some records. They have $5 bins and some exclusive records available. I say check them out & see what you can grab... The manager also told us about a show that he had and we actually tuned in to hear and his taste in music is great! The passion for music in this place is really refreshing.

The store itself was a bit smaller rhan expected, but still had a good selection of RSD releases still available, including all the ones I wanted. Staff was very friendly with me and gave me time to peruse their inventory to my liking. The only reason why I'm only giving 4 stars is there is much greater variety in their used vinyl than new vinyl... I don't have anything against buying used, but I prefer to buy new if I can, and their new record selection is a fraction of what they have used. That said, I still was able to find something else recently released that was not a RSD Black Friday exclusive, and at 20 percent off to boot! Will definitely go again to peruse their selection next time I'm in town.

Mr. Cheapo - You'll find a lot of great stuff. You might have to take two trips back to your car for all the stuff you'll buy.

You might find something neat here or there but for those wondering why they are called Mr. Cheapo, it's likely because of the experience selling items to the store. Not pleasant, they will lowball you to less than 10% of the value of your item, hem and haw about how they won't be able to sell it for much, then list it for way way way more than they told you they would. I come here if I'm bored and need to kill some time but it's never a fun experience really.

But to the people who…read morewant to sell their things like CDs, DVDs, VHS and laserdisc/ players, it's definitely not here. They'll try to lowball you instead of giving you a fare offer, they do it all the time. Also the guy with glasses in the counter was given my buddy a hard time when he was trying to negotiate his DVDs. Like not giving him a better offer or other options. The guy who works there probably had a bad day, but I don't think anybody would want to put up with his attitude. Also If you're looking for a specific title. They may or may not have it, so you're better off finding it somewhere else. *In conclusion. It's fairly good. I think for most people who want to find physical media, discover and stay away from the internet for a bit. Above average, it's not a bad store

I know a lot of you here live quite far from Marine Park/Sheepshead Bay/Gravesend, but if you want…read moreused records, Zig Zag is the place to go. Luckily for me, I live in the neighborhood west of here. I've always ignored this spot for years due to the insanely outdated and weathered posters (really horrible ones, too). However, I manned up and walked in about a year and a half ago and I must say: this place is great. It turns out that Zig Zag is quite historic. Back in the early 80s, heavy metal had its glory days here in Brooklyn. L'Amour's was the place to be and Zig Zag was the place to get records... and meet your favorite bands. It's hard to believe that bands like Metallica, Motorhead, and Venom all stepped through that door at one point. Stan, the guy who works there, has basically seen it all and has not given up his 80s days just yet. As for the actual selection of goods: it's just like any other used record store. You win some, and you lose some. Because this place has diminished into obscurity over the last 20 years, all of the super rare stuff is left untouched and hidden underneath everything else. The prices are a bit high ($12 average for a used record?) though the price is worth it for some records. How Stan manages to keep this place in business after all these years blows my mind. I know he does a lot of EBay-ing, but damn! He must kick ass at it. All in all, this place is filled with unexplored treasures and is definitely worth your time especially if you are a collector of classic rock, classic heavy metal, and everything else related to that from the 60s-80s. Oh, there are CDs too but who cares about that plastic crap?

Another one bites the dust…read more I used to shop here during my teen years. I'm quite sure it had an awesome Metal collection. However, I used to buy Post-Punk and 80s Goth vinyl here. Many times it would be cheaper at Zig Zag than some of the stores in the Village. Well, good music is officially dead. In the age of auto-tuned crap, the bell tolls for another fallen indie store. R.I.P.

I recently got into collecting Criterion releases and thanks to some open time, I was able to head out to Bridgeport on a recent trip out east and finally give this place a shot. From the moment you walk into The Archive you are completely surrounded by Blu rays, DVDs, 4Ks, VHS tapes, and every single thing that could possibly exist next to them. This place has every inch of the walls decorated, every shelf is full of movies, and all three rooms are slam packed with cool stuff. I spent probably an hour talking movies with the staff, digging through all the different sections, and it took a whole lot of restraint to not leave with 30+ movies (can't really fit that on a plane). Due to space restrictions for the flight home, I was only able to pick one thing up but Days of Heaven is safely at home in LA now and a proud member of the collection. Overall, The Archive is definitely one of the best stores the nutmeg state has to offer. The decorations were cool, the movie selection was absolutely unbeatable, the staff was knowledgeable, and it was definitely one of the best movie hunting experiences I've had in many, many years.

The shop is the brick & mortar division of Vinegar Syndrome: a film restoration and distribution company that specializes in protecting and preserving genre films (mainly produced between the 1960s and 1980s). The company was founded in 2012 by Emerson and business partner Joe Rubin and named for the acidic smell of deteriorating film. It is considered a boutique Blu-ray label and to date has released well over 800 titles on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. The Archive is dedicated to selling movies and music in a wide variety of physical media formats. Consumers will find all sorts of new and used titles available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD, VHS, Betamax, Laserdisc, Vinyl, CD, and Cassette tape. A second location opened in Aurora (CO) in October 2022 and a third (named 'Vinegar Syndrome') opened in Toronto (ON) in October 2023. I've been doing business with the Archive for a number of years now. I'm a huge fan of collecting physical media. Although streaming media seems to be the way to go now, streaming services are only as good as your internet connection, the quality is too compressed and titles are disappearing all the time. I like having an actual vinyl record or 4K disc in my hands. Physical formats are also usually loaded with all sorts of liner notes, posters and bonus features that you won't get with streaming services. I try to stop at the shop every few months or so. While I sometimes leave empty handed, other times I leave with some great finds. They often carry great film releases from labels like Arrow Video, Blue Underground, The Criterion Collection, Severin Films, Shout! Factory, and of course Vinegar Syndrome. At times, the shop will even get a limited amount of new releases weeks before they are available on Amazon. If you're a fan of physical media then you need to get to the Archive right away!
