I came…read morehere because I met a participant in their charitable cause the prior day and wanted to support the effort. This store is about one mile from my house and I had never been here before, even though they have been here over 20 years. This was their annual charitable event. I was greeted the door by Storm Troopers and Darth Vader. It was obvious that they have the right formula here. The small shop is PACKED with comic books and memorabilia. This is clearly the home base for comic book collectors and aficionados. I was here to see one of the artists drawing and support their charitable cause. I always find it amazing to watch an artist go from pen-paint-pencil to paper. Amazing talent. I had the opportunity to meet a cmic book author. We had an amazing conversation that was capped off by determining we went to elementary school together in Queens. It's always a small world. The owner is a wonderful man who is dedicated to his passion and charity work. I am looking forward to next years show and will look to possibly partner with them in my own charitable events. I understand that shops need to make money and cover their overhead, but the offer wasn't even close to reasonable. I sent the same cards to an online buylist service, where they scanned and evaluated them through their system and came back with an offer five times higher than what the shop quoted. At that point the difference stops being about business margins and simply bordering on robbery.
