The previous reviews don't really match the situation of the brand spanking new store, new owners and of course, new gear! After the last FLGS (friendly local game shop) that I frequented closed it's doors, I was left to find a new spot to get my table top on. The Nassau Tabletop game group meets here every Tuesday evening so if you're looking for folks to play your latest Settlers of Catan expansion or you want to try something different, go check it out. There's ample space at the tables in the back to get your game on and they have a small collection to borrow from up front. Naturally they have truckloads of comics (new and old), pop figures and card/magic tournaments too. If you have kiddos in tow, do know that they stock some age appropriate toys and comics for pre-teens and younger. Positive atmosphere -- Nerds and turds welcome here.. read more

Amazing spot. We stopped in today to pick up a last minute birthday present, right after opening, and were provided amazing service. One of the people working there (might've been the owner?), was super patient and helpful as we picked his brain for which game to get. Definitely coming back, would recommend to anyone. read more

I go heard often. Mike and the staff are great people and always keep me informed about new comics out plus there recommendations of any good ones I might've missed. Not to mention when I started my own business Mike took his time to give me tips on how to manage certain aspects to help me out in the Long run. The staff are true comic book enthusiasts and can talk to you for hours about their favorite authors and illustrators. From a business stand point Mike is always talking about ways to improve the experience of the end user. His game nights have come along way and he's spend a lot of time trying to accommodate everyone's needs and requests. This is a standup business and an overall great place to visit. read more

This store is now called Cosmic Comics & Games and it's great! The owner is very knowledgeable about both comics and board/card games. I love coming Tues nights for board game night. I know there's other events other days of the week and they look fun too. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Coming to Cosmic Comics is like watching and accepting a few things about porn. The musics gonna be really really bad and no matter how hard you try, your wife just isn't gonna allow you to put "that" in her like that chick. Having said that... When I first walked in there with my sons the owner did assault me to say, "please, please, please watch the kids." I got over the insult quickly when he saw that unlike the rest of Long Island, I have extremely well behaved kids. Now when I go in there he actually asks how my kids are doing. Secondly, he does seem pre-occupied with long distance calls and the randomly scantily clad consumers that come in the store from time to time but I'm not there to make friends. I'm there to satisfy my inner nerd. And speaking of that inner nerd, this store has back issues galore and they're not overpriced. He has statues and I love a comic book store that actually has comic books and no baseball card crap. Who the hell comes to a comic book store to make friends? I know I don't. I go to buy comic books and get the hell out before my wife realizes she married a nerd. Ignore the store owner 'cause more then likely he's gonna ignore you. I've been to both storesfronts (there is a change in ownership about 3 months ago and they moved to a larger store) and I love this new storefront more. There is more table space to play board games. And the owners are friendly and always willing to help. They have a variety of games to buy and a gaming library. Also they have a whole wall dedicated to comics. And if there is something you don't see, just ask and they will try their best to get it for you. I can't wait to see this grow! The grand reopening was this past Sunday so don't rely on the old reviews before April 28th, 2018. read more

Wow I went out of my way to go to this place. Owner couldn't be bothered to busy Skyping his girl who sounded like she was 98. Had an attitude when I asked for a specific issue. I said goodbye when I left and was ignored. Will never go back here again. Obviously doesn't care about actually selling the stuff in his shop. read more

Recomendation: Do NOT go here. Friday 9/21. Night. Went here with a friend after dinner. I remember when I lived in this area how great Cosmic Comics was when it was further west on Merrick Road in Oceanside. This current incarnation is NOT reflective of the store in Oceanside. When it was in Oceanside, the Selection was amazing, owner was amazing, even if the store was claustrophobic. This store now stocks comics that are 90%+ of just DC and Marvel. With a smattering of Image and Dark Horse. There is little to no back issues here to look thru. I saw what looked like only 4 long boxes, 1 was marked fantastic four, 1 was marked avengers. There is WAY more toys and games here then comics. This store now feels like a "trendy" comic store that only people who know anything about comics/characters from TV or Movies might frequent. That being said, that isn't the main reason why This store is receiving a 1 star rating and negative review with the recommendation to stay away. When I was in the store, it must have been game night for card game players. The employee was in the game. He seemed more into playing then engaging with the customers. This is not a major issue for me personally, id rather not have someone hovering over me at any store. What I found odd and the main reason why this review is negative, everytime my friend or I touched something he got up and re organized it like he had some sort of OCD issue. Hey that's fine, he wanted to keep the shop a specific way... but why I am shocked? I refer you to the picture in my review. I purchased 4 issues of Klaus Janson's "Sacred Creatures" series, 1, 4-6. When I got back to where i am staying to read issue 1, i pulled it from the bag and the back cover was essentially destroyed (See picture). This is due to the fact when bagging he decided to shove a bunch of extra free ad type stuff into the bag, which was half in the back cover. By doing this he destroyed the back cover of issue #1. I found this disrespectful and shocking since, again, he was essentially getting up and straightening everything i touched. So to act OCD and care so much about the items while IN the store, but showing ZERO respect for the purchased items someone just spent their money on, that are LEAVING the store, well, this showed me all I needed know about this employee and how much the owner cares about employing people who dont themselves care once they have gotten the money for their items. In the current state of consumerism in this world, where you can get instant gratification off places like Amazon, or find anything you want on eBay, in addition, to being able to go to large "cold" chain stores like Barnes and Noble, (where they stock the complete run of Sacred Creatures in 1 compendium), and buy it there, i wouldve assumed a mom and pop type establishment like this would make 100% sure to employee people who showed at least a modicum of interest in helping customers and making sure their employees take basic, common sense care by simply putting comics in a bag in a way they do NOT get detroyed, in that way assuring patrons come back... would be standard operating procedure. Not at this "new" iteration of Cosmic Comics. IDK what happened when they moved from Oceanside to Baldwin, but I will personally NEVER go to this establishment again after this experience, and would HIGHLY recommend everyone else find another comic store on Long Island to spend you hard earned money. read more

I've been to about 10 different Comic Book Stores around Long Island and NOBODY gives you the same personal and friendly service as Cosmic. The owner, Ken, and his wonderful 2nd, Tom, are the men to go to for updates on the newest collections, info on what to read if you're looking to get into something new, or just need a copy of that one book you are missing. Statues, toys, and books galore, Cosmic has it all. And if they don't have it, they will find a way to get it for you. I never feel looked down on, as a woman entering a comic shop often does, and I am always treated with respect. Ken's pull list email service is a great bonus because it lets me order my books ahead of time and pick them up when I can make it into the store. I'd give Cosmic 10 stars if I could but we're limited to 5. All of which are rightfully deserved. read more

Reading all the bad press on Yelp, I decided that I would go into this place with low expectations. I needed something and they were the only ones that had it, so I decided I was going to deal with whatever came my way. LONG STORY SHORT: Despite all the bad press, both the worker were incredibly nice and very interested in what their customers are interested in. Their selection is top-notch and so abundant. One could spend hours admiring Only negatives: They appear to be very old school, seems like all transactions are cash-only, and they do not appear to be on any type of social networking site. Also, Mississippi Queen was playing on their speakers when I walked in ... Nostalgia rush to the head; they have a tremendous selection of various different toys from different time periods lining the walls. It was awesome. When I walked in from the get go, the gentleman behind the counter (who looked a lot like the actor Dave Allen) greeted me warmly and seemed very nice. There was another man on a computer typing away, so I assumed that he was the bad seed I heard so much about. I continued to look for what I needed through their enormous selection. They had so much great stuff; old and new, and definitely an abundance. A true collector would likely rely on this place heavily. Anyway I got what I wanted and purchased it all from the nice clerk while making small talk. He was relatively knowledgeable about current lines and you could tell he does immerse himself in the comic universes as well as his customers do. I was about to leave when their collection of Trades caught my eye. I was skimming through some great old stuff, when the same worker who was on the computer came over to me. He had something in his hands and he was excited. At first I thought he had mistaken me for someone else as he said "look what I got!". I played along and to my surprise I saw something totally awesome. He received issue #1 of The Strand signed by Guillermo Del Toro himself. I thought this was crazy and converse for a solid 15 minutes. Sure enough I began to realize that this guy was actually very nice, and he was genuinely interested in not only me as a customer but our mutual interests. read more

This store is the best! The weekly pull service is excellent & the employees are both quite kind & helpful. It is a great place at which to become a regular customer, as they are very willing to help you get whatever items for which you are in the market. There is excellent selection of statues & action figures & they stock all of the major comic book titles each week. There is a seemingly endless amount of back issues & trades. to be quite honest, the only reason why I go to this comic book store is because it's the closest one to where i live and gas prices are not too friendly now-a-days. The owners are just there to show some presence and take your money lol. If you're looking so sit down and read comics in the store (which i don't think any store allows or likes) this is definitely not the place. But if you're like me and just want to buy your comic books quickly and get home, this place is okay. read more

I've been going to this comic store since the early 1990's. My comics are always waiting for me and I get great help with special orders or requests. The store is full to overflowing with toys, statues, comics and trades, and with the ice cream store next-door, the owner is understandably concerned about young children. But the owner is also a fan and has been in the business for decades and his knowledge is exceptional. Over the past 25 years I have lived in Nassau and then Queens and now I am in Suffolk, and this has been my comic store the entire time. read more

The owner of this comic book store is a good guy. Ken, when you finally get to know him, is a hell of a guy. Yeah, he can come off brutish, but he means well. He is a loud spoken man; when discussing anything with him, you will feel as if he is yelling at you; that is just the way he talks, when you accept this, everything will be ok. He IS always on his computer though, but if you ask for help, he, or his employee Tom, is always willing to help. Other two reviews are accurate and right on target about the owner and the store. Have personally seen and heard the non stop streaming porno that runs on the store PC. As a customer can't help but see and hear it. Too loud to be ignored. Not something that belongs in a retail store as parents do bring in small children and sometimes teenagers enter the store. Have seen other customers annoyed at the "porno experience". Horse bleep attitude from the owner regarding children, parents with children, getting an item from a display or inaccessible spot where it is stored, etc, dead on accurate. Never experienced that attitude myself just have seen that attitude aimed at other customers. Customer friendly the owner isn't. Know many area collectors who don't go to this store because of the owner's attitude. There are other stores on the Island to frequent and there is always on line shopping. i went into this store not expecting much reading the reviews that were posted before me but was pleasingly surprised by the vast amount of comics from various publishers and the amount of other merchandise available. this store has been in business for over 25 years now so he must be doing something right. he wasn't the most pleasant but he had what i came to look for. i'd go back again. read more
