After several meetings they sent a candidate really not compatible with what we talked about. The…read morehandwritten scrawled original contract was for $39/hr (5hrs), after verbal discussion at $35/hr. I requested a clean printed copy for consideration, but they raised the rate to $43 due to so-called special requirements that were never discussed until they handed it to me. I told them that "bait-and-switch" doesn't work any more. I have NEVER experienced such a non-professional agency with such immature attitude as these people. All I really needed was "maid service" and these idiots treated it like a hospital case. BEWARE, Seniors.

Throughout my time at Freedom Home Care, I had the privilege of working alongside many dedicated…read moreand professional staff members. However, I've encountered several challenges stemming from management practices that I believe warrant attention. Specifically, a scheduling supervisor used her authority in a manner that was not only vindictive but also detrimental to my well-being. This resulted in unwarranted removals from schedules, blocked shifts, and unfounded explanations that ultimately created significant hardship for me. It is essential for a company that prides itself on providing medical and personal care staffing to treat its employees with respect and dignity. Unfortunately, my experience felt contrary to this principle. On multiple occasions, I was asked to accept shifts that required lengthy commutes, transforming my role into something akin to that of an "Uber driver" rather than allowing me to engage in meaningful caregiving. One particular incident stands out: I was sent to a location where no client was present, as the company had arranged a ride without confirming the appointment. After attempting to contact the "24-hour emergency line" for over half an hour without any response, I found myself needing the assistance of police officers to reach the correct site. This experience highlighted the inadequacies in communication and support within the company, and to my disappointment, I received no acknowledgment or apology for the distress it caused. When I resigned, I requested to receive my final paycheck for all hours worked, yet I only received payment for one day. HR informed me that the remaining pay would be processed in the next pay period, which seemed inconsistent and unfair. Such practices may undermine the trust and morale of employees who are dedicated to their roles. I genuinely believe that Freedom Home Care has immense potential to create a positive impact in the lives of both its clients and staff. To realize this potential, it is crucial to foster a culture of empathy, clear communication, and fair treatment throughout the organization. These changes would not only benefit employees but ultimately enhance the quality of care provided to clients. I would not recommend anyone to work here - I forgot to mentioned; one time their was a post to clean up urine and feces only, and to bring your own cleaning equipment - needless to say -I am not "the help", I would never recommend anyone to work under this administration - company

We both had full time jobs and needed someone to take care of my Mom during her recovery. After talking to a neighbor about our situation she recommended a come called Homewell care services. We called and Rob and Chandra came out and met with us and they were very compassionate and showed real concern for our situation. They went into depth about what would meet our needs and then they went into depth about my Motherd needs. They made it all about us and not about the money. And when we did get to cost we were amazed how affordable it was to have some one in our home taking care of our Mom when we couldn't and all if their caretakers our put through a thorough background check and license ,bonded and insured. My Mom loved the caretakers they provided and it got to the point that my Mom was asking when is Mary coming again, We not only got a caretaker, my Mom got a new friend. If you find the need to have someone come in to assist recovery for a loved one or just someone to provide companionship Chandra and Rob are the ones to go to. They are life savers and I highly recommend thier service to anyone who is looking for a first class service from people who really care. Thank you HomeWell Care for being there in our time of need. When my husband was ready to be discharged home from Whitehall Rehabilitation Center after…read morerecovering from sepsis, we needed homecare to help him fully recuperate and regain his strength and independence. I was referred to HomeWell Care Services in Lake Forest and spoke with the owner, Ines Eisner, MD, PhD, who immediately grasped our situation and offered a viable plan. I was impressed by her professionalism, knowledge, and sensitivity and felt like I was speaking with a personal friend. Ines visited my husband at rehab, and then met me at our home to inspect the setting and offer suggestions to facilitate recovery. On the morning of my husband's discharge, Ines met us at the Whitehall and introduced us to our lovely new caregiver, Noreen, whom I soon referred to as our "Guardian Angel." Noreen moved into our home for two weeks, assisting my husband with all of his needs on the road to full recovery while simultaneously helping me around the house. Rehabilitation impacts not only the patient, but the entire family. Noreen was invaluable, maintaining a very positive and cheerful attitude -- she was tireless and couldn't do enough. We will be sad to see her leave, but plan to stay in touch. I highly recommend this agency.

Then for the next 5 weeks a different nurse came out first twice a week and then once a week to change the dressing and just check up on things. All went well until the course of antibiotics was finished. The nurse was supposed to come and remove the PICC line on Wednesday (February 22nd). First there was a miscommunication between Lifecare and the doctor. The doctor's office claimed Lifecare was supposed to contact them to get the order to remove the PICC line; Lifecare claimed that the doctor was supposed to contact them. In whatever case, the doctor's office contacted Lifecare on Wednesday afternoon to authorize the removal of the PICC line. But now, Lifecare is unable to find a nurse to remove the PICC line and they have stopped communicating with me at all. I have no idea if or when I can get the PICC line removed and in the meantime I am breaking out from the tape keeping the PICC line in place.

We had gone through a lot with my dad before he passed away and so we knew what we wanted and what we didn't. Unfortunately, the informal network we used for my dad didn't have women caregivers so we were back to to square one. After doing a lot of research with the local senior center and online we called For Papa's Sake, which is based out of the town next to where my mom lives. From the very first phone call I suspected we had gotten lucky. After a couple of calls and some group discussion between me, my mom and a For Papa's Sake senior person we decided we'd try them out. And am I glad we did. They listened to my mom's and my requests, likes, dislikes, deal-breakers etc. and they never batted an eye. They did say it might take a bit longer than usual (given our needs) to find the right care giver, but they called back in less than 5 days and we had a care giver within 10 days to 2 weeks of that 1st main discussion. That care giver has worked out so well. It has really improved our lives and I can go days without worrying about my mom...what a relief. That's what For Papa's Sake provides: relief! If you are looking for an alternative to a nursing home or aged care facility or whatever you want to call it, For Papa's Sake really cares and I would encourage you to give them a call. They have worked out great for us and I would not recommend them for something so important if they weren't doing a great job.

I have stories, emails and voice mails of unprofessionalism by both management and caregivers. My family used Right at Home in 2022. It has taken me until now to write a review because I just did not want to think about how bad their service was. We are in a much better place now, and I feel compelled to warn others. Right at Home was truly awful- no communication. I'm not sure how they even had clients. We had to call them to find out who was coming for my mom. I can't recall EVER receiving a phone call informing me, I always had to call them. Schedules that should have been known and planned for became unnecessary emergencies because of their poor communication. My mom very much liked one of their caregivers - she was wonderful - so we were tied to the agency. That it the only reason we stuck with them as long as we did. The caregiver was pregnant, and we had to tell them! They claimed they were unaware. Right at Home had zero communication with us regarding her replacement until WE asked them if they had a plan. Their staff made us feel like they were only concerned about the money. I truly felt like they would just throw whoever they could on the schedule and they did not have as many caregivers as they said they did when we signed up with them. Two of their caregivers abandoned my mom. I never heard an apology. When I contacted their owner, Matt, regarding an issue, I got no follow thru other than an email thanking me for my communication and a promise to be in touch. Never heard from the guy again. They simply placed whoever they could find with my mom, taking no consideration as to how she would react to the person. Just horrible service. If you are a caregiver - don't sign up with them. They will treat you like crap and lie to you. I absolutely DO NOT recommend Right at Home. We've since used a different agency - and I can confidently say that Right at Home does not deserve to be in business. Don't trust your loved one in their care.
