Spent the weekend at the resort and had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Both were fantastic experiences. The breakfast staff was very kind. I wish I had his name. He made a perfect coffee for me and the Lobster and Crab Quiche was excellent. It had large pieces of both meats and it was seasoned to perfection. The ambience on the patio was chill. We had a pool view under a veranda. For dinner the wait staff was a lot slower. My dinner mate did address the staff and he came back very apologetic which was nice that he did at least address his tardiness. I believe they were understaffed which is about norm for today's restaurant life. I had the wood fired artichoke hearts, deviled eggs, and my guest had the airline chicken. All dishes were spectacular. The deviled eggs were very unique and full of flavor. I think they were my favorite, but the other two dishes were just as grand so I would definitely get these again. I unfortunately did not get any pictures of my breakfast items. All in all this was the highlight of the stay. I must say that for an old resort in this part of Texas, I was mighty shocked that it tasted so good. read more

This is a restaurant in a hotel and usually I don't review to harshly but was expecting a little bit more from this place. This is definitely more upper class fine dining experience but just wasn't blown away or impressed by the menu and what was brought out. They almost did an elegant approach to bar food which was weird for the apps. Didn't really work. My steak was really bad and didn't come out the way I asked for it to be cooked. I think the Menu could use several improvements. For one thing, don't serve Nachos advertised as Queso and chips if you're bringing out nachos, cmon my guy. Another thing, the quality and price of the food were on complete opposite ends. Overpriced for mid meal and drinks. The view is a disappointment, the boujee nature of this place advertised online is grossly over exaggerated. They didn't have some of the extra amenities that are listed. Honestly what a joke - so disappointing to come here for a special date night. Service was great - How do you order a Medium well steak and it comes out raw? 2 crustiness or bread or whatever they were - for an app!? No balsamic? Beretta was an embarrassment. Cool views. Not too crowded. The food was just ok. Service was generally a bit slow but that's ok given it's more of a resort place.

My husband and I stayed at Lakeway Resort and checked out their restaurant for happy hour. Great deals on wine and beer, and all appetizers were 1/2 off. My husband had a couple glasses of the house cab while I had sparkling rosé. We also ordered the charcuterie board and the tuna tacos. Both were delicious, and the honey spread that came with the board was awesome! Spread some of that on bread with cheese and prosciutto--- yum! The tuna tacos were tasty too, a little small but perfect for happy hour bites. Would definitely recommend and we'll be back for happy hour! read more

We only had breakfast here, as guests of the hotel, but I just had to pop in here and leave a review. We sat out on the balcony and enjoyed lovely views and excellent service. The menu had plenty of options; I selected the French toast with coconut butter and bananas and my husband had a typical eggs and sausage breakfast. The food was served quickly, hot and was delish! We were most impressed by the staff working that Sunday morning, 9/26, very sweet, friendly and hard-working. People were moving around tables and making special requests, and they granted each with a smile. read more

Very nice spot to get some great food and drink. Place was VERY empty due to being offseason by the lake and the pandemic. Always unnerving to be in a mostly empty restaurant with tons of seating. Sat at the bar, got great service from Lauren. Had to start off with a martini, then got a great salad with beets, citrus wedges, and nuts over greens. Then to the entree, and yow, there's something really special when the skin is super crispy but the fish is not at all overdone. Paired with asparagus and beans, a great light dish. A meal like that deserves to be topped off with a whiskey, and wouldn't you know it, they had Blanton's in stock. Recommend you check it out, I know I'll be back because it's only a forty minute drive from my home. read more

We had NYE dinner here this evening and everything was exceptional-- from the service to the food to the ambiance. We ate in the bar area and were taken care of by Jeanette and Lorraine, 2 lovely people, great conversationalists, and smart young women. We ordered the calamari appetizer, grilled artichoke appetizer, 2 8oz filet, with veggies and wine. It was all top notch, and reasonably priced especially given the holiday. Really disappointed. Started with the host, who asked "do you have a reservation?" And then went on to say that they only take reservations Monday - Thursday (it's Saturday... sooooo... why?). Service was very slow and my entree was hideous. I went with the Crispy Salmon, which was oily and bland. Wife had the burger, which was not cooked to the temperature she asked for. How do you get a burger wrong? Not just that, but 45 minutes to get what amounted to sloppy cooking and presentation. So sad. Extremely overpriced food that tastes worst than diners. We came here a couple days after thanksgiving because we wanted some good food. But it turned out that they were serving thanksgiving dinner buffet?!?!? I literally heard a bunch of customers complaining about the stupidity in feeding customers thanksgiving dinner when they just had thanksgiving dinner at home. When we booked the reservation they never told us. $60/person for the worst thanksgiving food I've had in my life. And to call it a buffet is pitiful. After reading several reviews (more negative than positive) I still wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt. My husband and I are babymooning at Lakeway Resort and Spa, and this restaurant happens to be apart of the resort. The positive was the convenience and the view. Our visit, unfortunately, only confirmed the negative reviews and low stars. We made reservations at 7:45pm on a Saturday. The nice hostesses welcomed us. When we arrived, the place was not at all busy like I was told. This was totally fine since we were able to get a window table to watch the sunset, well at least what we can see since a building was blocking the sun. Our waiter had a hard time understanding us and vice versa. He had a thick accent and didn't quite understand things we were asking a few times. Never once did he ask what we were celebrating or "what's the occasion" which I indicated on my reservation. So there was nothing special about our dinner celebration. I ordered a cup of lentil soup which was "meh". A bit overcooked to me. The chicken lettuce wrap which was probably the worst I've had. The chicken was really salty. The type of lettuce they used was flimsy, not crunchy and able to hold up the chicken so it was messy. My husband had the pepper crusted NY steak, and it was ok. The entree came with asparagus, carrots, and mashed potatoes. The food was just not up to par for the prices they are charging. It's definitely not a five star restaurant, that's for sure, so they need to stop charging like they are! Good thing we had a $20 food and drink certificate with the resort to apply to this terrible dinner. We will not be returning and don't recommend it to others. Forget about the convenience. Shrimp Caesar salad was very good and service was good as well. They wanted it to be too fancy by waiting for long breaks between appetizers, bread, salad, meal and dessert. This led to a 2 hour dinner. All was well until splitting up the checks, a 10 top table with 5 couples was way too difficult and we waited 45 for the checks to be sorted out. They also brought the checks out one at a time and none of them were correct. Great restaurant if you are not in a rush. read more

First time staying here and my car broke so had to come to this restaurant, not other walking distance choices. Everything was way overpriced, and I was told the menu was changed just last week! The view was fine, but the food was in no way comparable to the view or price. Our brunch was out cold, one of the stars gave to our server that took our food back to exchange and heat up. View of the lake and pool are spectacular, but the main reason for only 3 stars is that the food is way overpriced for very mediocre breakfast food. For example, a cup of coffee is $5, and it's no better than a watered down hotel Keurig coffee, but I guess this is what you get when uou stay at a resort. We just moved here & really just wanted to sit & take in the view of the lake. This was not the place. The view was very restricted & the ambiance was not wonderful. I gave 2 stars because The charcuterie board was okay, not fabulous. You can tell that no one ever comes here because the restaurant was totally dead. I guess the locals know best. This is such a fabulous piece of real estate, not many restaurants on the lake. I wonder why the resort doesn't step it up a bit and make it a retreat for real. We will not return. read more

Came here on a Saturday night without a reservation (nor were we guests of the hotel) during Sunset and we were seated right away! Gorgeous views overlooking the lake. Prices were very fair for this being a resort. Good cheese plates are hard to find and this one was excellent at a great price! Staff was very friendly, our server George was sweet. Service is a little slow everywhere these days but we didn't mind taking our time enjoying the views. Definitely want to stay here sometime. We had the filet mignon which was tasty and finished with the flourless chocolate cake which was also great! Overall so happy we ignored the bad reviews and gave it a shot, i hope you do too! read more

We tried this restaurant late night as we were staying at the nearby Lakeway Resort. We just needed a little something and walked over. We were seated immediately and ordered a beet salad, which was delightful. My daughter ordered a burger, which was just as delicious. Next morning we decided to go for breakfast and had their lovely breakfast buffet. Worth every penny! An array of juices, milk, coffee, omelette bar, pancakes, breakfast meats, beautiful fresh fruit, eggs, breads, muffins, coffee cakes, cheeses and meats. So much to choose from! We came here twice within 24 hours! We stayed at the resort that is connected to this and really loved he food they had to offer. They have a great breakfest buffet for $20 from open till 11 and it's totally worth it! SO many delicious options. We also came for dinner one night and i got the veggie wrap and it was insanely delicious. Eggplant, romaine leafs, tomato's, topped with a dried tomato pesto... need I say more? A little on the pricy side but definitely pay for what you get. If your staying at the resort definitely check this place out, the view at night is spectacular! ! ! read more

Very disappointed in the buffet for the Christmas Boat Parade. First not told it was a buffet when I called for reservations. Communication was poor when we arrived, told there was a Buffet or you could order on menu...well only the $40 buffet. They offered nothing really special or exciting, baked salmon or chicken on the so called buffet. The food was lukewarm to cold.... mini crab cakes cold, stuffed mushrooms cold, salmon cool, veggies cool. Grandson could not even eat the French fries. Thought the dessert would be good until there was a long hair in mine. To top it off there was a 15% service charge hidden in the bill and asking for gratuity as well when you served yourself. With a bill of $200 for 3 people and 2 drinks (glass of wine and a beer) we will NOT be frequenting this restaurant again. We understand now why very few partook in the buffet and very few people in the restaurant on a Saturday night with a Christmas Boat Parade right out the windows. read more

Such a shame, we stayed at the resort and we were looking forward to a relaxing evening at this restaurant. Food was mediocre at best, like most of the other reviews, they were out of 1/2 the things in their already limited menu. The restaurant had more empty tables then full yet they acted as if they were packed. Not allowing families to sit out side even though there was ample seating They acted like they did us a huge favor in seating us without a reservation, yet there were only 2 other families in the entire restaurant. The real kicker, the next morning I asked them to deliver a bottle of wine and a few snacks to our room for my husbands 50th birthday. After they accepted the order, I got a call from the manger refusing to deliver the items because I wanted a meat and cheese tray and he said those aren't on the menu till after 5. Really? You can't simply put some bread meat and cheese on a tray? She was very rude and zero hospitality. But the front desk of the hotel pulled together a nice basket with all kinds of goodies and wine. So all was not lost, but we will never go back to that restaurant again! read more

Our visit was on 10.26.19. This cozy little restaurant is awesome! We were staying at the Lakeway Resort and we walked over to this place to have a nice dinner for my birthday. I had the Three Beets Salad and the Lamb Chops dinner. The salad was very fresh, and tasty! The lamb chops were seasoned so well, i lost my table manners and sucked on the bones! (I tried to be as discreet as possible) The staff was amazing from the time we entered until the time we left. I've eaten a lot of places - from food trucks to the French Laundry - and bottom line is that this place is NOT bad and gets the job done. I chose to write this review b/c I feel that this place is getting a bum wrap from the recent reviews in my opinion. The negative reviews are misleading, and almost made us skip it. Glad we didn't. SUMMARY: Food is a 3.5, service is a 4, views are a 5, prices are a 3.5 (I am from the northeast and I think things are generally more expensive so I am used to it). THE ISSUE: I think that people are expecting a different type of restaurant than this one is trying to be, esp bc of the resort and the view it offers. If I came here for an anniversary dinner or first date, I'd admittedly be upset. Not bc it is bad, but rather that this is trying to be a HOTEL RESTAURANT that caters to everyone from families to conferences to weekend getaways - and therefore focuses on core items (salmon, snapper, 2 cuts of steak, chicken breast, pasta dish, etc) with a little flair in other places (ahi tuna tacos, fried pickles, Thai lettuce wraps, truffle parm fries). HIGHLIGHTS: Service - they fall all over you and try very hard to make sure you are happy. Our waiter was great, and never skipped a beat. View - need I say more? BONUS: generous wine pours and fast delivery - sounds stupid, but I hate waiting for a drink to be delivered for 10 minutes. FOOD: There were highlights and some misses, but no duds or major issues. My party of 7 enjoyed bruschetta, lettuce wraps, and parm truffle fries for apps. All were good. Again, not the best I've every had, but tasty and generous portions. No disappointments. For dinner I had a burger - and this was the weakest of all the things i ordered. More bun than burger, and the burger was dry. I admit that I asked for it to be med/well (just a LITTLE pink left) but it was well done. It happens, and while it wasn't BAD it wasn't anything special. My wife and aunt had the chicken avacado bacon sandwich and both thought it was great. Kids meals were kids meals - grilled cheese, pasta, etc. Was fine. 7 meals, 3 apps, 3 glasses of wine for $157? I don't think that's expensive. Maybe you do? We also had breakfast there 2x - ate on the outside patio. $18 Buffett ($9 for kids). Pretty darn nice way to start the day. read more

The management is unhelpful and clueless, while the waitstaff never showed up to the table. 30 minutes here and everyone else getting waited on except our table. Part 2 of my visit to The Lakeway Resort and Spa. After an amazing massage and a lounge out by the pool, which has a cool swim up bar. We headed for the swanky dining room that over looks the lake for an amazing meal. The Travis Restaurant serves what I would consider Pacific Rim and French Fusion with a Southwestern flair. We started off with the Tempura Battered Squash Blossoms. The fried flowers were stuffed with pimento cheese mouse served with green tomato chow chow - delish! For entrees we had the Grilled Atlantic Salmon w/ Truffled Yellow Tomato Fondue and Creole Mustard Idaho Trout served with shrimp and cheddar grits, asparagus and pork belly. The Trout was the better of the 2 and absolutely amazing in taste and texture. For the vegetarians they offer 2 options and both sounded very tempting. Despite the high prices on the food they have some very reasonable options on their wines: 21 by the glass $6 -17 and 200 by the bottle $26 - 1,000. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion. I very much enjoyed my friends special occasion celebration. read more

Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from. We stayed at the connected resort and walked over for an easy reservation. We had great service from the hostess to the server. We ordered their spicy meatballs which had some kick in the marinara for sure. We followed up with some orecchiette pasta, which had a light sauce but still very flavorful. We haven't had the steak dishes, and I can understand how some people might view it as overpriced but I disagree, the service comes with the price and we had a good time. read more

After viewing the previous reviews for TR I was nervous about having dinner here, but we were here celebrating my birthday and didn't want to drive off site. The reviews couldn't have been more wrong, except they got the awesome view correct. Service was prompt and professional, entrees arrived at a normal pace. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly and the rice was very tasty. My girlfriend had the filet, cooked medium well and extremely tender. Adding a nice $9 glass of Merlot put a cap on the evening. It was a bit pricey but for Austin not too too far out of line. read more

After reading the bad reviews I was reluctant to try the place, but I'm glad that I did. I really don't know why so many people ripped on the food because I thought it was quite good. The shrimp soup was outstanding, and my sea bass was superb although not very filling. My wife's steak was good too. I would agree, however, that it is a bit overpriced. Maybe the food is better if you have a massage first....sadly...I didn't enjoy the food...or the price. For food that had so many onions in it I'm surprised how little flavor it had. We have visited Lakeway resort for many many years. We have seen the resort and the restaurant have its ups and downs. They are definitely on an up. Our dinner was delicious and the service was great. The menu is a little limited but everything we had was very good. I had the beet salad with Ahi tuna which was delicious and my husband had the gem salad and burger. Everything was very fresh and nicely presented. We will definitely be returning! read more
