I scheduled service with Appointment Companions and everything went perfectly. Doug sent confirmation messages the week prior, the day before and stayed in touch that morning regarding pickup time. Doug is pleasant, professional, a very safe driver and was excellent company as I nervously waited to be called in. He really put me at ease. He doesn't ask questions or require any information about your medical appointment (unless you want to talk about it). He totally respects the privacy of his clients. After my procedure, the nurse went to the waiting room to let him know I was ready and he had the car waiting at the door for me to get me home when they wheeled me out. Appointment Companions is an excellent option for an elderly person who needs to get to appointments, a younger single person who doesn't want to ask someone to take a day off work to help them (like me) and many other situations as outlined on the web site. They also provide companion services on flights! Most people seem unaware of this very important service and I am telling everyone about them and I am sure I will be calling on them again in the future.

    As I write this, I'm currently stranded at my doctor's office which has since closed, the sun is…read moresetting, I'm in a dangerous part of town where a shooting a few blocks away made national news a few months ago, scary people high as a kite keep walking by, and my appointment ended an hour and a half ago. I had TWO drivers in a row cancel on me. The first driver was 20 minutes late, which is whatever. It's free. I watched the app and went outside when the map showed he'd arrived just in time to see him pull away right as I spotted his license plate. He cancelled the ride without even contacting me. Customer service said the app mixed up my number and the facility number, which makes no sense because I got a call just fine earlier today, but I confirmed my number just in case. They booked me another ride and said they'd expedite it. Well, that driver cancelled without even a call too! I stood in front of the office as they drove around and around in the app and I had no way to contact them. I called customer service again, very frustrated at this point, and they had no explanation, just offered to get me a THIRD ride. I said never mind, I'll figure it out. Customer service reps took down my complaints, but really didn't seem to care much.

    I was at an appointment here in Buford waiting on my ride when I got to witness an "above and…read morebeyond the call of duty" moment in life. A driver driving in 3D medical transport van realized that the heavy motorized wheelchair her patient was in was malfunctioning. She took the extra awesome job on of pushing this patient in her chair all the way to the elevator and then to her correct floor and on to the Doctor's office. Kudos for that driver in representing what is still good and well with society. Her humanity was inspiring.

I was wary, because the website listed for this company on Yelp is inactive (as in, GoDaddy is selling the domain); a different web link I found via Google search was broken; and the Facebook page for the company is either deleted or privated. It seemed as though the company was no longer in operation, but my family are having a lot of trouble arranging medical transportation for our loved one, so I called the listed number just to confirm. The first call did not go through, and I tried twice more with the call dropping immediately after connecting, so I figured the business was defunct and moved on. Imagine my surprise when, several minutes later, the number called back! When I answered, the caller did not identify herself as 3D NEMT, and I had to ask to confirm if that's where she was calling from. She was rude and dismissive throughout our conversation, told me the service would be "costly" without asking for any specifics, and provided me with a quote without asking about the pickup address, the address of the medical clinic, etc. When I asked whether they provided any additional service of assisting the patient between the bed and the wheelchair, she told me they don't, and before I could ask anything else, she said "thank you" and hung up on me. I understand if you are scaling back your business, are struggling, are no longer operating, etc. I would have understood something like "We are, unfortunately, unable to provide the service you are requesting," and I would have moved on with my day. Several other transport services have said this to me; it's no hard feelings, it's business, I'll move on. But if you truly are still in business, please understand that it's both detrimental to your operations to provide such rude and disinterested customer service when someone is expressing interest in hiring you; and it's also very disheartening to the families of ailing loved ones to be talked at with hostility when all we're trying to do is provide comfort and care to the person we love. Again, I don't know if this company is ACTUALLY still operating, but if they are, they seem to be doing a pretty poor job.
