Having recently moved to Atlanta, I didn't have anyone locally to drive me to and from a day…read moresurgery appointment and wait there as required by the surgery center. I scheduled service with Appointment Companions and everything went perfectly. Doug sent confirmation messages the week prior, the day before and stayed in touch that morning regarding pickup time. Doug is pleasant, professional, a very safe driver and was excellent company as I nervously waited to be called in. He really put me at ease. He doesn't ask questions or require any information about your medical appointment (unless you want to talk about it). He totally respects the privacy of his clients. After my procedure, the nurse went to the waiting room to let him know I was ready and he had the car waiting at the door for me to get me home when they wheeled me out. Appointment Companions is an excellent option for an elderly person who needs to get to appointments, a younger single person who doesn't want to ask someone to take a day off work to help them (like me) and many other situations as outlined on the web site. They also provide companion services on flights! Most people seem unaware of this very important service and I am telling everyone about them and I am sure I will be calling on them again in the future.

I was scheduled for surgery and MedTrans was taking care of…read moretransport to the surgery, as well as return home the following day. I think they farm this type of transport to other agencies. The day of surgery they texted and said they would arrive at my home at 8:30 as the Doc wanted me to be there at 10 a.m. When no one arrived by 8:40, I called and was told they would be there in 5 more minutes. The driver arrived at 9:10 a.m. 30 minutes later, and the driver said the traffic was bad. I asked about her GPS and she was on her phone GPS, not an auto navigation system. The following day for the trip to bring me back home, a driver and her partner arrived and the partner was confrontational when they were 40 minutes late. I got quiet and then realized neither of them knew where they were taking me. I gave them my home address and neither could get a signal to take me home. I was not feeling well, since I had surgery. I finally googled my home address and had to talk to the driver and guide her to my house. These drivers should have an automobile navigation system which guides them better when there are traffic delays. A person needing medical transport should not have to give them directions. Horrible service!!!
