We were in discussions with another vendor for fabric and lighting and had plans to do a final walk-through with all of our vendors. As we were driving down to Santa Barbara for our final walk-through, the vendor we originally planned on using for fabric and draping cancelled on us! We frantically called around and confirmed a last-minute meeting with Jake at Bella Vista Designs. Once we met with him, it was clear to us we should have asked them to help with our event all along. Jake was professional, communicative, and even informed us that the other vendor we had originally chosen was over-charging us! She helped us understand what we needed, answered all of our millions of questions promptly, and worked with us so we could stay within our budget. It was such a joy to work with her and everyone at Catering Connection!! Most importantly of all, the food was EXCELLENT! Many of our picky eaters or those with high food standards came to us during and after the wedding to tell us how incredible the entrees were! Unlike what happens at many weddings or events, everything from Catering Connection was still warm when we were eating it and it was truly delicious. And we still have people coming to us with compliments about the mini desserts! Catering Connection also worked with Amigos Rentals and they worked with us to assemble our vision for our ceremony and reception! Everything was what we imagined and more!

I have already talked to the company about the sour taste left in my mouth with a few things that went wrong on our wedding day, but I am still feeling the need to alert others that this place doesn't have the 100% perfect track record that it has on here. A majority of our event went well. However my husband and I really regretted the small details (warm food, bride and groom saved apps, drink garnishes, certain rentals quality) that were supposed to happen, that were talked about in a phone call and documented on paper, but just didn't. I don't think they understood that I was deeply upset about all these things, maybe I phrased my email poorly, but regardless they refunded my husband and I's meal. Overall I am most upset by the service post emailed complaint. I felt like all of my issues were retorted and rebuffed. And it made me feel like I was wrong about my interpretation of my own wedding. Sure it's a business and they don't specialize in emotions, but it's a wedding..it's a high emotion experience. It just feels like a very overpriced for what you get situation. And I do regret using them :-( I wish we used a resturant instead.

They were there for us through the whole planning process, and we couldn't have done it with their guidance and support. We didn't have a wedding planner, so everything was on us. We worked with Annie to not only create an amazing menu that was vegan and gluten-free friendly, but also to coordinate all of the rentals and setup. That took so much stress and management off of our plate and it made such a difference in everything coming together in the way that we envisioned. I heard from probably 20 different guests that the food was the best they've ever had at a wedding... and that's particularly amazing considering that most of our guests weren't actually vegan and gluten-free. So it says a lot about the quality of the food that our guests felt that way. I can't recommend Annie and Pure Joy Catering highly enough, ESPECIALLY if you are looking for a top notch catering company that can also assist with rentals. This is extremely valuable in simplifying the planning process and reducing coordination. So thank you so much for everything!

(All other vendors were deficient in one or more of these areas. Every other vendor was deficient in the first. Scary!). 1-COMPETENCE- The Tent Merchant asked all the right, necessary questions to safely, legally, securely erect a tent and visited the venue early on to ensure they were prepared. Beyond safety, they had the best variety of tent sizes, features and embellishments. They also had varied tablecloths available from basic polyester (the only thing available from all other vendors) to cotton, linen, and luxurious textured fabrics. They offered more sizes of linens and tables than others as well. 2-TRANSPARENCY/INTEGRITY: Immediate, clear, unchanging prices and no "surprise" small print. By FAR the best contract terms. No required NON-(or partially)REFUNDABLE deposit on a tent until 10 days prior to event (when weather is more clear), yet guaranteed tent availability! (Others required tent deposit up front: a guaranteed loss if you don't need it). The weather forecast led us to forego the tent, but even after the 10 day deadline, TM assured "we'll do everything we can to take care of you". We had nearly daily communication that final week, with immediate responses, updates and support. 3-Word-of-mouth RECOMMENDATION by a local event planner, who also sent me a link to the 2025 Santa Barbara Independent Wedding issue, in which The Tent Merchant was a recommended vendor. Yelp and Google were sources for others. Concluding, every detail was efficiently and thoughtfully fulfilled as promised, and on time. I am grateful for the professionalism, competence and integrity of this company. I can't recommend them more highly. They will capably support and fulfill your vision with excellence, they will be available, encouraging and honest, and they will have your back from start to finish.

Tanya's kindness, generosity, and talent has changed our lives and given us happy memories to cherish forever. She is a true professional and excellent at what she does. She took care of everything so I didn't have to worry about a thing. And not only is she a fantastic wedding planner, but an amazing human being too. We feel so lucky to know her and hope to enjoy a lifelong friendship with Tanya and her husband Eirik. They're wonderful people. If I tried to explain all the ways Tanya went above and beyond to pull off a perfect day for us, I'd be a novelist. Plus, words cannot do justice to what she did for us. Tons of our guests commented on/after the day about how competent and great our planner was and we couldn't agree more. Tanya even bustled my dress with safety pins on the sidewalk outside the restaurant we were about to make our grand entrance into after we discovered my seamstress didn't shorten it enough. We were about to cancel the first dance we'd spent $600 on lessons/choreography for and had been practicing daily for months. She was not about to let that happen, so up my dress her head and torso went, and she saved the day! Also, she somehow was able to figure out exactly what we wanted and needed for our wedding when we didn't even know ourselves. She is decisive which, as a super indecisive person, I really appreciate. She was happy to make decisions for me and just get stuff done. She is just so good at what she does! Not to mention a strong, badass warrior. We are forever grateful to Tanya for giving us one perfect, happy day during a season of our life filled with grief and sadness. She gave us an oasis of happiness in the desert of struggle we've been stuck in, and fond memories to sustain us forever. Tanya has changed our life and we love her dearly.

It makes me very sad to join the other Yelp reviewers but I'd hate to see other couples go through…read morewhat we went through with Tanya. To be honest, I'm not sure this business exists any longer because the website has been down for months. We hired her in April 2021 right after we got engaged, everything went very smoothly until December 2021 when, as the other couples did, we started getting very bizarre emails from different assistants with different justifications about the lack of communication. Whenever I was able to get a hold of Tanya (which happened about 30% I was trying t reach her) she'd always reassure me and tell me it was all fine, and that she was in charge. Red flags starter to wave around February 2022 when she didnt show up to our walk visit and tasting (which was stated in our contract). She claimed she had emailed us to let us know but neither me nor our caterer got that email. Things got even more concerning when I heard from other vendors that she was not showing up to weddings at all! I tried reaching out (this was 4 weeks prior to our wedding with no planning whatsoever), since we had already paid in full (the contract said we were supposed to pay in full 3 months prior to our event). I sent her emails, schedule appointments through her calendar system, texts, instagram messages (which show as read and a week later that account was gone), with no response. We eventually decide to move forward with another planner and she didn't even acknowledge our notification that we were switching planners. A week later (2 weeks prior to our wedding) we got an email from, yet another assistant saying that she was ready to plan our wedding. We politely informed her we had moved in another direction and to please acknowledge notification of this and that we'd like to speak to Tanya to discuss some form of reimbursement due to breach of contract. It's been a month since our wedding and we haven't heard back from her or anybody from her team yet. We mostly felt betrayed because Tanya was such a great person to work with in the beginning, with great recommendations and we had great chemistry so this was totally unexpected and brought unnecessary stress to our wedding planning process.
