Gavin was GREAT! We selected songs for our playlist and gave him permission to add in things that he felt would be right for the crowd. People were dancing the night away and having a great time. He even ended the night with "I had the time of my life" which, we didn't think to add to our list but LOVE the song and it was the perfect way to close out our wedding. Highly recommend! read more

We had a great experience renting sound equipment and a DJ setup for our wedding. Everything was easy and fairly priced. Setup was on time, and communication was good from start to finish. We're very grateful, and we would definitely use Gavin again for future events. read more

Gavin is reliable, and knows exactly how to pull loose ends together. I retained Gavin Roy Presents twice now, and both experiences were superlative. read more

I used Gavin for music and a photo booth on my wedding day. Gavin was professional, responsive and overall very easy to work with during the planning process. The guitarist was lovely and did a great job selecting and playing songs based on a handful we said we'd wanted to hear at some point during the day. Gavin was also able to design a simple photo strip for the photo booth and I know our guests had a lot of fun taking pictures throughout the reception. I'd definitely recommend Gavin and his team to anyone planning a wedding! read more

Gavin recently DJ'd for our wedding in los Olivos California and I cannot recommend him enough! He was extremely professional and helpful throughout the process. He gave me great feedback and was very accommodating to my crazy planning process. read more

My [now] husband and I are convinced that Gavin is the best DJ in the Santa Barbara/Montecito area! All we wanted out of our wedding was for our guests to have a fun night of dancing, and he BEYOND delivered. I can't even count how many times we got, "this music is so fun" or "your DJ is awesome" from our guests all through the night! We are still getting getting compliments on how great the music was over a month later. Gavin was so receptive leading up to our wedding - understanding our extremely ambiguous notes and completely knocking it out of the park! It is very clear that he is the best at what he does. Gavin's professionalism, communication, energy, and kindness made him a dream to work with and we'd work with him again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Gavin, for making our big day so memorable for us and all of our friends and family! read more

We have used Gavin twice in 7 months for two different weddings and it was awesome! He did lighting, sound, DJ and photo-booth. He was professional, on-time, communicated well with us and did an overall wonderful job MC'ing the evening. And Buffy that did the photo-booth for us again was so energetic and fun to interact with, we all had a great time. I highly recommend Gavin and his team! read more

Gavin did an amazing job hosting our wedding reception! He handled everything from the music to uplighting to a Photo Booth and it was all perfect! He followed our timeline and was able to be flexible with last minute additions. He incorporated all of our songs and special requests. He mixed the music perfectly and had people on the dance floor all night. Many of our guests told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to and Gavin was a big part of that! I will use Gavin for all my future events and I highly recommend him!! read more

We used Gavin Roy Presents for our recent wedding in Santa Barbara and DJ Chris was our DJ. Overall, we felt that DJ Chris did a great job mixing dance floor music, but that communication and preparation could have been more thorough. Below is a summary of our experience. -Our dance floor was packed all night and the music mix was spot on for dancing! -We rented a karaoke machine through the company and it was a huge hit at our after party -All communication goes through Gavin and not your specific DJ; we would have loved more direct communication with our DJ prior to the event and/or visibility into Gavin passing along information to our DJ -We would have appreciated if Gavin and DJ Chris reviewed our Spotify playlist earlier than the night before our wedding so that any issues/questions could have been surfaced in advance (for instance, an unexpected version of a song was played for a first dance rather than the famous original version we assumed would play - we should have clarified this but also would have appreciated being asked which version ahead of time if there was confusion) -We had a couple unexpected mic issues during our wedding - all were quickly solved by DJ Chris All in all, it was a wonderful night and guests had a great time despite minor communication and preparation issues. read more

Gavin is awesome! He recently DJ'ed our wedding last month at the Canary and my husband and I couldn't have been happier! We gave Gavin very little direction in regards to picking songs and he was able to not only know what our guests like but us as well. Gavin is very upbeat, positive and was a pleasure to work with. He knows how to get the crowd on their feet and to the dance floor. We were so happy we picked him. We also got the photo-booth and that was amazing as well. We weren't sure if it was in our budget but, I was happy we spent the money because all our guests had so much fun in it. read more

Gavin and his team did an amazing job at our wedding! Thank you so much.

We hired Gavin to do videography for my late brother's memorial service. Gavin and his crew were very professional and the resulting sound and images captured the event perfectly. Gavin also took our slideshow across the finish line, getting the music we had chosen just right, and incorporating the slideshow into the final memorial video with high quality video and audio. The memorial culminated in a live musical tribute by two friends on acoustic guitars, which Gavin well- captured visually and aurally I feel like the out of town and country friends who couldn't be there were able to share the event with us in a very personal and intimate way because of the quality product Gavin and his team produced. Responsive, timely, kind, great value. I don't generally do on line reviews, but I make an exception here. read more

Wow! What an amazing person to work with. We first booked Gavin pre-pandemic for a wedding that we finally held this August 2021. Gavin worked with us through multiple date and venue changes. He was accessible, accommodating and gave us great advice throughout the process. The day of the event Gavin did up lighting, photo booth (HUGE HIT), sound system for ceremony and speeches and of course the music. A great DJ always knows when to mix up the songs the right way, fade out when something isn't that popular, and pump up the crowd whenever needed. The music selection included Latin pop, 70s, 80s, country, and Motown. He came highly recommended in the area and did not disappoint. THANK YOU from Len and Mari, you helped make our special day great! read more

We hired Gavin and his team for both DJ and lighting. We have received so many compliments during and after our wedding on our choice of DJ (E-wrek), and we are very happy that we did! We found Gavin Roy Presents via a wedding website, but it turns out that he knew both our wedding coordinator and caterer. Small community! So it was very helpful to have vendors that have worked with each other before. It made myself and my husband feel relaxed that we could hand the reigns over and not worry about it. That's just what we did! I enjoyed hearing all the music that we spent weekends listening and choosing for our wedding day. Looking back I cannot remember all that was played, but I do remember the important ones like the song during our processional and first dance. I remember screaming and jumping to Shout! And I remember the first song opening the dance floor - Shut up and dance with me. I've never seen so many people rush the dance floor before and it was amazing to witness. I truly cannot recommend Gavin and DJ E-wreck enough. It's true that hearing a song can bring back memories, and that's what happens when I hear these songs, which is a gift that will keep on giving. Thank you! read more

One of the best weddings my husband and I attended before our own wedding had its music provided by DJ Gavin. After we got engaged, we quickly snatched him up for our special day and it went perfectly! Gavin is seriously a gem!!!! We've been to so many weddings where the MC/DJ had horrible transition and awareness of the crowd that it was painful to even be around the dance floor. I know I am biased but I thought our DJ and music was the best! After our initial meeting and some touch up details in the week before, Gavin had an idea of the type of music we wanted and it went PERFECTLY. I remember standing there before the ceremony thinking that he was playing the perfect type of music that I had asked for and was in a blissful state (as every bride should be!). Songs transitioned so well together that I don't think the guests even noticed a change in music. The reception was a blast and between Gavin and my coordinator Kelly, everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) just fell into place perfectly. We also had Gavin do the lighting for the reception and everything was set up beautifully by the time I had arrived. Perfect execution by Gavin Roy Presents and staff and an even more perfect wedding. I am a VERY happy and lucky girl! Thank you guys soooo much! read more

Gavin worked with our daughter and her fiance to develop a play list that suited the all the guests at their wedding. He and our coordinator worked well together to make sure the music followed the timeline perfectly. Gavin was extremely professional and did an excellent job pacing the entire evening, not to mention acting as MC. The whole evening went so smoothly from the introductions, first dances, toasts, tosses, cake-cutting and all the music in between. Thank you, Gavin! We just knew it would be amazing. read more

My fiancee was really adamant about finding someone who could DJ and actually emcee our wedding, moving things along at a good pace and keep people entertained. We were so happy with the whole experience we had with Santa Barbara DJ's. We worked with Chris, who was very friendly and played all of our favorites, kept the party moving along in a good manner, and everyone had a great time. i'd definitely recommend them for a wedding in Santa Barbara read more

We hired Gavin and DJ Spencer for our daughter's wedding reception. Gavin supplied us with all the uplighting and spotlights for the dance floor as well as the ballroom areas. Everything was beautiful! DJ Spencer handled the music and he didn't skip a beat. He kept the party going from the moment we arrived. No one left the dance floor all night young or old and he had so much energy! He loves his job! Thank you so much for the best party ever!!! read more

Gavin Roy's team is amazing!! They were able to make the music appear seamless at a really complicated venue. They were always really responsive, made everything very easy, and even accommodated a walk-through. Then, there's DJ Bennett - he was amazing!!! Like - AMAZING. Everyone was dancing the whole time, he created such a great vibe and kept everybody having fun! We couldn't have been more pleased with the entire experience. A couple we know has already booked him for their wedding next Spring...and we're so excited because it means we know it's going to be another great time! read more

We hired Gavin to DJ our wedding and choose him because we had a little bit of a different flow and wanted someone that could really keep the crowd happy. Our number one goal was to have the guests on the dance floor for the whole dancing time. 2 1/2 hours!, we love to dance. My husband gave Gavin a list of must plays and do not plays and Gavin did an amazing job keeping the crowd dancing! When we heard our last song come on we were so sad it was over, but could not be happier with the night. THANK YOU GAVIN! read more

Gavin provided the lighting and DJ services for our wedding reception a few weeks ago. His accent and dance floor lighting really brought character to our event and made the space come alive. The music was great! His interactive website is loads of fun and allows guest to request music, we linked it to our wedding website and our guests loved it! People were so excited when he played their requests at the reception, it made everyone feel like they played a part in making the night come together. Gavin kept the dance floor packed and made all of our special dances, toast, and cake cutting run flawlessly. He was fun to meet with and really listened to our requests and made sure to play exactly what we wanted. I highly recommend him for both lighting and DJ services. read more

Gavin was SUCH a pleasure to work with from the beginning to our wedding day! He is so sweet and so easy to work with and flexible. I was absolutely blown away by how much fun everyone had dancing- people were on the dance floor all night and we got so many compliments about him! We sent him Spotify playlists of music we typically enjoy and he crafted the perfect playlist. I also heard great compliments on our singing guitarist Connor who was booked through Gavin's company. I'm just bummed I was busy with everything else and didn't get to enjoy his live music more! Thank you so much!!! read more

After hiring Gavin to DJ our wedding, I am absolutely convinced that he is the BEST DJ on the planet! Gavin provided extraordinary MC/DJ and lighting services at our wedding. He kept the evenings' events flowing consistently and from the moment the music was playing our guests were on the dance floor until it was time to kick everyone out of the venue. ;) Gavin also did the music for the ceremony and provided amazing little touches that I never asked for but absolutely need like cueing the music to the most significant parts of our requested songs during the first kiss, bride and groom exit, etc. It's little touches like that that paid our night memorable. Gavin Roy Presents is worth every penny for their professionalism and experience. You will have a blast with him mastering your ceremonies! I also enjoyed the music selection process and availability of easy to use technology for hosts and guests to request music prior to our event. Every song that we requested, even those that were obscure, were available on our wedding night. Amazing, simply amazing! I cannot say enough good things about how wonderful our experience with Gavin Roy Presents was. He is seriously the premiere DJ in town and it shows in the incredible work he does! Thank you Gavin! Our wedding so fantastic, beautiful and fun because of you! read more

Gavin had everyone out dancing at our wedding party--From age 3 to 83. Amazing night. Many guests told us it was the best wedding they'd ever been to. We chose songs from the "National DJ Top 200" link on Gavin's website. He used many of those (not time for ALL in one evening!) plus requests and shout outs. He worked professionally with the venue staff and smoothly segued our "First Dance" performance. We heartily recommend! read more

Gavin Roy Presents - Beauty Boys to Chicken Fried to Moon River! - DJs Near Me - Santa Barbara, California

DJ Pete: I have no doubt that Gavin Roy himself is great and my experience initially speaking and planning things for my wedding was great! However, we were assigned to dj Pete - ironically one of his dj's not reviewed by Yelp. For our wedding we had very specific instructions that were discussed and I thought through continual assurance that all would be great. No doubt my cocktail hour with familiar music worked and everyone enjoyed it. However, our family is half Armenian and half German. We gave Gavin and his team a flash drive of nearly 20 songs of Armenian music. We discussed mixing in Armenian with the American so our German side would not feel overwhelmed or exhausted. Sound easy right? Majority of the night was spent with erratic mixing and replaying of songs (while others were not played). Awkward transitions happened a lot - my German side who hardly dances finally got up to slow dance. Exciting right? So what does our dj do when he sees a dance floor full of people slow dancing? He puts on major salsa music. They took requests from genre's of music that I told them not to - because we have a conservative family. And, even I as the bride had to go and speak to dj Pete 3 times and my father 2 times too. The song that was suppose to be played during cake cutting was cut then never played, because quote: "the dj couldn't see us cause of a blocking wall" - I guess having a staff of waiters and a wedding coordinator wasn't enough to ask for help in that way. What this dj does not realize is that I had many guests, a wedding coordinator, and a wedding video that clearly supports our version - rather than the version dj Pete I'm sure embellished for Gavin (which he did instead of assuming accountability). Working with Gavin: I would say go with Gavin - given how experienced he sounds from other reviews. In my meetings and conversations with him he is knowledgable in vast music genre's and picks up on your wants as far as the music goes (and makes great suggestions - our finale music was a fantastic choice!) Gavin was extremely professional and quite kind in his exchange and dealings. He planned accordingly, organized and updated things as they went along. He is a consummate professional and will make sure you are satisfied. Sometimes a bad seed gets into a good apple and that is all that happened to us. Their production company will ensure that you are satisfied. Thank you Gavin! read more

Santa Barbara DJs are absolutely awesome! We got married back in 2009 and we still remember Gavin and his crew as one of the BEST BEST parts of our reception. Seriously we have never seen so many people dance for so long at any wedding like they did at ours. Everyone had a fantastic time! They played the perfect mix of music keeping people on their feet. I hate when DJs can't read the crowd and let a song play for way too long. SBDJs are masters at their job AND are super nice, down to earth guys too. We also liked their website where you can input your 'must plays' and 'do not plays'. They take that info and include their own recommendations too. Really, I just can't say enough about these guys. They're reasonably priced too. LOVE them! Love them enough to want to review them 3 years later! :) read more

Seriously, this company is as good as it gets when it comes to expertise and finesse in the DJ industry. My wife and I had our wedding a month ago (December 2014) in Solvang, and finding the right DJ had been our highest priority. She believed from the beginning that this could make or break the party, and after seeing how perfectly it went off, I see that it all really did hang in that balance. I admit that I was stuck in pricing from the 90s and didn't plan to spend what we did on this aspect of the wedding, but now I know I'd easily pay much more for the quality we received. (Side note: we skimped on the video people and got what we paid for). Gavin deejayed the event, but the overall company gave us real peace of mind from our very first phone call. Their online planning tool taught us what events we'd need music for, and they even provided all of the music and equipment for the ceremony. On our RSVP form, we had asked our guests, "What song is guaranteed to make you get up and dance?" - a question we weren't sure we'd ever get answered, let alone use at the event. However, their responses flowed in, and we sent them along to Gavin. Not only did he use every song - which kept our floor filled all night - but he mixed them so expertly that the beats seemed to match song to song to song in short intervals. The requests from guests weren't even all dance-friendly, but he made them danceable!!! We really had a pro dance party there thanks to him. Above all, it must be mentioned that our event was no typical affair for a deejay. I wish I could say we made it easy on him, but at least 5 different people had surprises that Gavin had to keep secret and straight from the next. This could have led to several miscues and mistakes - but not on Gavin's watch. He nailed every single cue with the perfect song intro or mic placement. All of this while playing master of ceremony. Gavin, Carly, and team, we cannot thank you enough for what you did for us. People are still talking about the wedding almost a whole month later, and everyone wants us to know that we had the greatest DJ. We are so lucky, and could not be more grateful. THANK YOU!!!! read more

I appreciate your fellow DJ that you work with Darla Bea. She is like a PHD of music. I love how she can come up with a play list based on my tastes and do themes. I'd like to say that her eighties theme that she did at our event was a HUGE success. We all danced our tushes off. I had to YELP about it. read more

We had Gavin Roy DJ our wedding in Sept 2015 and he was fantastic! His team is super responsive and he made himself available to chat by phone several times before the wedding to discuss our preferences and get a better feel for the type of music we wanted to hear. On the day of, Gavin was great. I had a number of people come up to me to comment on the music and how our DJ was really impressive. That's always great to hear as a bride. He kept the party going throughout the event and also did a great job MC'ing for speeches, announcements,etc...I feel lucky to have had Gavin as our DJ. He's incredibly talented!!! We also went through Gavin Roy Presents for our live music during the ceremony - a violinist & pianist (Neil) and both were fantastic. Gavin does a great job coordinating everything and ensuring everything goes smoothly. He clearly has high standards for who he works with. Would definitely recommend live musicians through his team as well:) read more

Gavin Roy absolutely made our wedding! He is so knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and musically talented. He had multiple conversations with us prior to the wedding to help answer questions as well as ask questions to really figure out our style and how he could make our day special. This being my first wedding, I had no clue where to start, he made the entire planning so easy and comfortable. At the actual event, he controlled the ceremony to the reception entirely and everything was seamless to our guests. We danced all night long and everything flowed amazingly! We have had multiple guests compliment him since the wedding. I would hire him for EVERY event and completely completely recommend him for weddings or events. Gavin was our wedding's DJ. He was phenomenal to work with throughout the planning process. From song selection to coordinating directly with our planner (i.e. taking legwork out of it for us) to the setup and execution of four different areas for music plus brining in his photo booth, everything was flawless - exactly how we'd discussed - and without issue. I highly recommend using Gavin for any event you can get him to DJ. read more

Gavin recently DJ'd our wedding and we could not have been happier with his services. He is very responsive and thorough, and the ceremony and reception music was all perfectly timed and crossfaded. Our guests had a blast dancing at the reception - every song was a hit. His online portal for creating playlists and music timelines for the day was super helpful and easy to use. Gavin is personable and super customer-oriented, he even suggested some songs we might like based on our music choices. Five stars all the way! read more

Gavin Roy was our wedding DJ on March 14, 2015 in Santa Barbara. What a pleasure to work with him leading up to the big day and then his efforts throughout the day were spectacular. Gavin took a couple of phone calls with my wife, Caitlin, and I leading up to the event and was friendly, capable and thoughtful. With his very easy-to-use website allowing us to slate selected songs -- and, perhaps, more importantly, create a comprehensive "no play" list -- as well as allowing our guests to share their requests, planning was easy. On the final call prior to the wedding where we went over those choices, my wife and I agreed that we could hear the wheels turning in Gavin's brain as he looked through our music. He seemed, almost, to be putting together playlists right in front of us. On the big day, Gavin worked very well with our ceremony guitarist and our officiant at the ceremony site (Santa Barbara Courthouse Gardens), as well as with our guitarist who performed during cocktail hour at the reception (Chase Palm Park Plaza). Once it was Gavin's turn to take over, his playlist and rotation of songs through the dinner hour was impeccable and he handled the announcements of the wedding party and toast speeches like a pro. No silly bluster, just very professional and on top of things. Leading up to the wedding, we told Gavin we really wanted the last 2.5 hours of the reception to be a big dance party. To say he got that idea would be a major understatement. The dance floor was packed as Gavin hit all the right notes, handled guest requests on site and just kept the party going non-stop right to the end. We had an amazing wedding day and Gavin was a crucial player in that. Thanks Gavin! Wishing you the best, and should we ever need DJ services in SB at anytime, know you're our top choice! read more

Gavin Roy did a great job as DJ at my daughter's wedding at the Riviera Mansion on December 30th, 2018. The sound for both the outside wedding ceremony, and the indoor reception was perfect. He played our many requests during the dinner part of the reception, and then played a great selection for the rest of the evening keeping everyone dancing until the end. Gavin himself did our wedding and he was amazing! Even down to the fact he looked a bit like Bruno Mars, haha. But really, his online tools were very helpful and he really listened. He got the vibe we were looking for absolutely down. He didn't believe me that we would have a karaoke packed reception, but since that's exactly what happened he rolled with it so well. Everybody had a blast! (note to all...yes, we had a karaoke wedding reception...I highly recommend it if you have crazy fun friends) read more

DJ Pete SAVED THE DAY! My siblings and I had been planning our parents' 50th wedding anniversary celebration for over a year. A month before the party we realized we were in over our heads, and not wanting to leave anything to chance, reached out to Gavin Roy. Within hours, DJ Pete was assigned to our event. The stress level dropped down significantly just knowing he would be there to help with audio-visual, music, and event flow. Peter was an absolutely delight, and assisted us, "A/V challenged". The party was a HUGH success! Several days later the guests are still talking about it. It would not have been so without the help of DJ Pete. Thanks so much for making this happen for us on such short notice. I recommend Gavin Roy and DJ Pete wholeheartedly! read more
